Let no-one say things can't get better.

Sending unwanted dick pics is illegal in the UK now. Spread the news.

The only downside to this is there is NO way the police can handle the number of arrests that will now need to be made. However, I think this new law is a great way of targeting male stalkers and sex offenders as online stuff is one of the first types of harassment they use. Also we can expect a lot of harassing TRAs to get hit by this.

Man, 39, becomes first person in England and Wales to be convicted of cyberflashing

Nicholas Hawkes, who was already a registered sex offender, sent unsolicited photos to a 15-year-old girl and a woman in February, a court heard.

Even certain women on here and some women in real life trivilises and downplay problematic troubling misogynistic attitudes and behaviours

Cause thats the reality of how Common it is
in our society and other societies in the 🌎 world
Cause it happens so 🤷 often,

It's weirdly disturbingly how totally unacceptable attitudes and behaviours such as this,
that it is, normalises to such an extent in our society and other societies in the world,

even the way women dress, their is attitudes still that it must be cause she looks acctractive and dresses good she must be asking for it
In some way blaming the victim of sexual assaults, rape.

How 🤔 come even women from middle Eastern cultures in which they are fully covered with a burka still experinces sexual harassment and sexual assaults ect in their cultures then?

women are blamed for the way they dress acctractive way,

If she drinks too much she is blamed if predatory males takes advantage of her state of mind,

How about society looks at problematic misogynistic behaviour in general in our society and educates from secondary schools onwards about this matter..

Whats acceptable and definitely not acceptable behaviour in this regards in general in our society..

and the police force and the criminal justice system in the uk make it one of their top priorities targets to achieve to address these issues as effectively as possible,

They are, though. Like toddlers wanting to show off the poo they did all by themselves.

guinnessguzzler · 14/02/2024 08:53

Oh @EBearhug that absolutely cracked me up 😂😂😂

Me too especially this bit: I'll be thinking, it's a dick, you've all got dicks, and you're so very proud of them, and very predictable, and really, there's nothing special about them, because there are so many of them, and I don't need to see a picture, whatever you think

guinnessguzzler · 14/02/2024 08:53

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 14/02/2024 08:42

I mean... I'm very willing to believe that a disturbingly high number of men have, but all?! Do me a favour.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 14/02/2024 08:40

And yes, every man has sent one.

Oh don't be so ridiculous. You may exclusively hang out with creeps, but that doesn't mean we all do.

cerisepanther73 · 14/02/2024 08:34

@ArrestHer

I wonder why some or so many women have such a low 🤔 opinion of men then in general?

Mmm lets work out this mystery for you

Do you think its just possible that some men give women extremely valid reasons to feel like this then?

even some men the good ones who wouldn't dream of doing anything nasty to women in their personal life or to women outside their home,

Can be remarkable blaze or put it this way oblivious at times, in their attitudes, towards misogynistic behaviour,

Such as boys will be boys type of attitude 🙄

Not speaking out about offensive misogynistic talk or behaviours or just ignoring or just trivialising it 🤷 downplaying behaviour,

Happens all the time

I've personally experienced it myself

I really am glad that Cyber exposes behaviours has caught up with the times we live at and is being pursed the same way as the flasher in the park and other places in regards of the law

ArabellaScott · 14/02/2024 08:24

achangewoulddougood · 13/02/2024 09:25

Well, surely the point is to stop men doing it? We don't need to waste money on arresting every man, just tell them times have changed and hope they make the choice to keep it in their pants!

And yes, every man has sent one.

What a lot of shite.

EBearhug · 14/02/2024 08:15

@EBearhugWhat do they ask you to send? A photo of the vulva area? I mean, really? Is it to check how flexible you are?! 😂And do they just say, 'Do you want me to send you a photo of my dick before we meet for coffee?'

Usually they ask for something like, "can I see more pics?" (My dating profile has just one pic, of my face.) "Have you any full length pics? Any unclothed? I'd love to see your tits. Show me your pussy, do you shave or is it full bush?" And for them, it's likely to be, "Shall I send more pics?" and then I'll get one topless (regardless of whether they've a torso to be proud of,) and maybe headless whole body in front of a mirror with pants on, and then it'll be, "do you want the rest of me?" or, "wait till you see what's under this," and I'll be thinking, it's a dick, you've all got dicks, and you're so very proud of them, and very predictable, and really, there's nothing special about them, because there are so many of them, and I don't need to see a picture, whatever you think.

I don't think it's to show flexibility- I could just stand in front of a mirror, were I to indulge them.

And then if you've actually met and had a date (which went okay,) it'll be, "look what you've done to me, let me show you," like getting an erection is worthy of a Nobel prize or something. To be fair, with some men in their 50s, it can be an achievement, but I still don't need to see it.

Some of them have the sense to send me links about things like history or linguistics or art, but they still want to send dick pics too.

I think the only one I actually solicited was from a friend when I got a slightly panicked message asking how to remove glitter, because he picked up his daughter's soap in the shower. (I used the power of Mumsnet to advise him, once I'd stopped laughing.)

IcakethereforeIam · 13/02/2024 17:00

I'm glad they specified he was an Arsenal fanConfused NAAFALT!

He...he put handsanitiser on his genitals! Won't that sting. You're supposed to keep it out of eyes.

SquirrelsAssemble · 13/02/2024 14:59

My Nigel is a very suspicious character & wouldn't send a dick pic because he would immediately assume he was about to be blackmailed.

Or have his identity stolen

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 13/02/2024 16:36

And I'm normally a poster who has to caveat NAMALT as No But An Awful Lot Of Men Are Like That in discussions like this.

But yes OP, a small step in the right direction

You must all be living under rocks. Every guy I have ever dated, men I talk to in pubs...probably not my dad because he can't even figure out how to charge his mobile....They ALL sit and go "oh no I've NEVER done that"! Do you honestly think most men haven't sent photographs of their genitalia? Madness. Carry on though. It's obviously not your Nigel.

I think you need to re evaluate the male company you keep Wink

I hadn't actually read it yet I got distracted! Dear lord!

He then rubbed hand sanitizer on his genitals and walked around the foyer for five minutes. He left, crossed the road and approached a resident before police were called.
Then on July 23, he approached a group of young people in Mopsies Park, Basildon while only wearing his trainers and engaged in a 'sexual conversation' with the victims and 'kissed one girl and hugged another.

Hawkes was spared jail for those incidents, blaming the incidents on his PTSD and heavy cocaine use, denying a sexual attraction to children.

Well he sounds an absolute treat. Think dick pics is least of this one’s problems.

And that’s how it works in the courts these days then ‘sorry I got my cock out at the doctors and wandered down the street with is on display but I’m a Coke head’ and the judge thinks ‘fair enough, no jail necessary for you son.

Boiledbeetle · 13/02/2024 16:29

SamW98 · 13/02/2024 16:26

He was already a convicted sex offender after admitting to stripping off in a doctors' surgery and covering his genitals with hand sanitizer last summer.

Dear God 🤦‍♀️

As much as my view of men is low these days, I do not think all men have sent a dick pic.

Some of the guys who do it are not necessarily getting off on the flasher aspect, it is more that their whole self is focused on that floppy appendage. They are fascinated by it so assume that women will be too. Men are basic. It is literally like a baboon showing its arse.

It's quite literally the definition of a sex offender to expose yourself and is a good predictor of predatory behaviour. Technology makes it easy, but flashing is often a precursor crime to other, contact based sex offending. Men who do it deserve the attention of the authorities

That reminds me of a comment I read years ago about men and their mobile phones - the reason they were playing with them and displaying them so much is because they couldn't play with or display their other best friend in public, so they displaced that onto their phones. A display tactic about their place in the male heirarchy - like the bloke who sat opposite me on the train home one night with a Blackberry resting on each knee and trying to make eye contact. LOOK, I AM TOP MONKEY, I HAVE TWO PHONES AND I'M DISPLAYING THEM BECOS I CAN'T THUMP MY CHEST AND SWING FROM THE BRANCHES.

Not so sure how or if it applies nowadays when EVERYONE'S on their phones.

Rubbish. Most men haven’t sent one.

Datun · 13/02/2024 14:45

In any case, it doesn't matter how many ask, because it is about unsolicited ones, and it only needs just one to be wrong. I assume some get off on the flashing aspect of it, else I don't understand why they do it.

Me neither. I'm going to take a guess and estimate that the number of women who have been persuaded to meet up on the basis of an unsolicited dick pic, are in single figures.

Apart from anything else, it would indicate a huge, deal breaking gap in their understanding of women.

glad to hear about this law, though.

SamW98 · 13/02/2024 14:36

Sparklfairy · 13/02/2024 12:59

I'm the last person to defend men but I have to say, I've OLD on and off for probably 12 years, spoken to hundreds of men. And I've never, ever received a dick pic.

I feel quite left out Grin

I did OLD for about 6/7 months last year and had 1 dick pic, 1 naked arse in the mirror and several in the bath with bubbles or laying in the bed with a towel both covering the vital bits and asked if I wanted to see more - I always declined and only once was that ignored and the photo sent anyway.

So while there are men out there who get off on sending unsolicited dick pics, it’s a long way from it being all men imo

Boiledbeetle · 13/02/2024 14:19

I don't want pics of number 4! It might be the wrong robin!

ArrestHer · 13/02/2024 14:19

Look at all those great tits!
