Why as soon as trans rights are mentioned are schools mentioned in the same breath? Do people honestly believe schools are pushing children into changing gender? I’m too busy planning lessons, marking books, entering data etc to even think about gender as an issue.

PatatiPatatras · 13/02/2024 16:48

Love it.

Can we consider the lgb without the T for conversion therapy - No, big tantrum.

Can we consider the tory relationship for lgbt?
No, I just want to know how the tories will treat the T.

😂

The number was at least 100 per year in an established trend. So, meaning many more than just 100.

CriticalCondition · 13/02/2024 16:44

I enjoyed the 'Somatically Female' link which I haven't seen before. Very catchy.

I had to look up the meaning of 'somatic'. It's used to mean of the body rather than of the mind. So makes no sense in the context of gender identity but heh, I've learned a new word.

Who was it who said on MN about an acceptable number of rapes being fine to accommodate transwomen?

It was a poster who disappears and reappears under new names from time to time. They disappeared again after that but they will return. They are a male 'ally' I believe. Boiled did a Travelodge name change once to reflect the topic under discussion with them. At one time we all had shortened the nickname to a British 70s & 80s band name. The short name consisted of three letters - they were Electric! And so so Light!.... The poster... well they were not so Electric or light.

I'm going to land up voting fucking tory, amn't I?

The world has gone mad.

Because they are playing the culture wars game? Have a look at the country they have created over the last 13 years.

I can't recall. I think they put the number at 100 women.

After that, they might have to think a bit, but 99 women injured mentally and physically with quite possibly life changing impact?

Pffft. Men have needs (to get into spaces with non consenting women in a state of undress,) and it's not like women matter, is it?

You really don't have to talk to anyone from this political view point for long before you realise the depth of their disgust and derision for women.

Mnhq only tends to delete posts when they are reported.

So,for example A man in court in California probably isn't going to be reading mumsnet during breaks in proceedings and take offence to being correctly sexed.

A man in court in the UK may be reading mumsnet during breaks in proceedings.

I seem to read there's a user who aspired to be Beetlejuice and was in the habit of vanity searching themselves.

I can't remember who that was...

Does 'support trans people' mean in fact 'fuck over women and children'?

To a transactivist, yes.

Apparently you can use wrong-sex pronouns if it's somebody you like , out of respect.
But it's fine to use the correct ones if the man is a sex offender.
It is confusing though because even if that man you like has a sexual fetish which he acts upon daily in front of children, then it's still okay to call him she/her if you find him likeable. Even if he is sexually offending every day.
🤷🏽‍♀️

There’s a correct pronoun for RMW still standing

Not a sex offender I take it in that case (mnhq that’s a not)

But yes it shows how ridiculous the law currently is

Even people upset by misgendering can’t get it together

ResisterRex · 13/02/2024 15:51

I get the impression from certain threads that they're watched and posts reported now, rather than engaged with and counter points made. But always instructive to see which threads it is this happens to, if not very nice for the posters who incur deletions.

lifeturnsonadime · 13/02/2024 15:48

Actually @CriticalCondition on rewatching, I think you are right. But nonetheless the point remains that it is trans people that are asking for different/ additional rights to everyone else, not LGB people.

CriticalCondition · 13/02/2024 15:41

To be fair, as a PP pointed out, the 'I think this is about trans' came from the programme moderator standing near White in the audience, not White themself. Different voice.

Do some trans people get correct pronouns and others not?

How does that get decided

I’ve had several! I think it must be because I used the correct pronouns, not the delusional ones. Off to the naughty step…

My record is something like 11 or 14 (I'd have to go back and check) deletions in one thread all about this exact issue that's been deleted today.

MidLangCleg · 13/02/2024 15:33

I fully intend on asking any politician lobbying for my vote the next question "what is a woman" and will vote for that person if they respond with a factual answer. Any hedging or fudging I'll laugh at them and walk away.
Sunak was strong in his responses to RMW. And yes we did note the "but what about meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee". I'm extremely glad Sunak has been briefed enough to know that LGB ✂️ T.

I've had my first ever deletion.

In this context this is a badge of honour and I shall wear it with pride

They seem confused on their stance

Some live in Somerset and some don't

CriticalCondition · 13/02/2024 14:50

Someone upthread mentioned Denton's playbook. There is a whiff of that here.

The 'barrister from Somerset' who pops up in a people's forum with a question to the prime minister isn't just anyone. Not even just any old barrister. Not even just any old discrimination barrister.

This person and their tweet were referred to in court that very same day to support an application for significant damages against their former client.

I'd be happy to bet very few people who witnessed/watched that news clip know how deeply involved in these issues this person has been for years.

RMW

Ah right.

Good to know 😉
