I have balls in my fridge but they are left over chicken balls from last night's chinese that I will have for my lunch. Eggs are in the cupboard

OldCrone · 09/02/2024 11:39

Thanks for the reply @Hoardasurass.

I don't understand why some people think it's better to keep eggs out of the fridge, since they deteriorate faster at warmer temperatures. Why do you think it's better not to refrigerate?

Helleofabore · 09/02/2024 11:37

Oh FFS! The keeping of one's balls in a jar like some demonic trophy seems to be common after all. Do these blokes think that they can have them reactivated and implanted back in?

ResisterRex · 09/02/2024 11:36

I've never put them in the fridge (eggs, not severed balls, that is). And I don't refrigerate the ketchup either!

To be clear, I've never even handled severed balls. And have no plans to do so.

Hoardasurass · 09/02/2024 11:33

@OldCrone I treat the keep refrigerated on eggs the same way as I do on ketchup etc, I ignore it. As for the use by date on them that gets ignored too, I've always used the float test even on "fresh" ones

A friend kept the stump of her firstborn's umbilical cord when it dropped off. I think it may be in her special memory box rather than the fridge though. He was 28 last week so I think it's thoroughly air-dried by now.

Wasn’t there someone else who was a known TRA who kept their testes after they were removed? Is this a common thing?

Sarah Brown.

WTF have I just read
HellonHeels · 09/02/2024 10:33

This, er, individual must surely be in vexatious litigant territory by now?

MistyGreenAndBlue · 09/02/2024 08:58

In America they have to refrigerate eggs because they are "washed" before sale which takes off the protective bloom. They do this because of poor sanitation where they are farmed. Same as with the actual chickens.

I don't know the common protocol for storing testes though. 😂

This is interesting, thanks. Yet another reason to avoid factory-farmed produce.

As for the story — words fail me.

Angrymum22 · 09/02/2024 09:33

The Chinese eunuchs who served the emperor in the Imperial Palace kept their testes in jars. As Buddhists they kept any body part removed in order that they could be buried/cremated whole for reincarnation purposes I think. Also they were proof of their running status if they were moving from one area of service to another.

So, keeping excised testicles as a proof of status has a long history? There's probably a PhD thesis to be had out of this.

In the deep dive video, at different points, Kingsley reports up to 26 different medical conditions and disabilities and refers to self as "medically fragile".

All in, the story is replete with the usual tropes that centre the strapping medically fragile 6-footer as a victim whose altruism is constantly exploited by others.

If he had even a smidge of Machiavellian ambition, he'd start proceedings to sue the state for cutting the balls off somebody who kept telling them he was mentally fragile.

Amateur.

OldCrone · 09/02/2024 10:31

I'm wondering what people on this thread think 'keep refrigerated after purchase' means on egg boxes. Do you all have your own hens and eat freshly laid eggs every day?

If you want to eat fresh tasting eggs that are more than a couple of days old you need to keep them in the fridge. In their boxes and definitely not in the egg holder in the door. That's the worst place for eggs as movement thins the whites and if they're exposed they'll pick up other flavours.

What do people who don't put their eggs in the fridge think will happen to them in the fridge?

I keep my eggs in the fridge.

i asked for my appendix when it was removed but it had already been incinerated 🙁
also asked my DH to keep his hip joint after hip replacement but they said no!!

Fucking hell are you setting a a medical museum?

Finally the fat balls thread and the feminism board have crossed over each other, I've been waiting for this.
Fat balls thread was what hooked me into mumsnet in the first place and then I stayed for the feminism. (Well and a few other things...😂) For anyone who doesn't know the fat balls thread it's in classics and it's fucking hilarious. I would link it but I'm on my phone being hurtled to London in the car (dh driving).

😂

Didn't Lia Thomas's other half post something about their testicles in jars?

I thought so boiled. That was who I was thinking of

The Food standards Agency and British Lion eggs recommend keeping eggs in the fridge. The temperature needs to be kept at a constant and under 20 degrees and that tends to be the easiest place to do it I guess. I have always kept ours in the fridge.

James Martin says don't put them in the fridge because they absorb all the flavours - which if you keep them in the box just isn't true. I know this as we had marinated Chinese belly pork in there at the weekend and the eggs don't taste any different.

Mmmm. If I put my tiny truffle cheddar bit beside my eggs, will that make truffled egg omelet?

Kingsley said that her testicle-removal surgery cost $20,000. Although, she also revealed that the surgery was paid for by the state because she is 'disabled'

You have to ask yourself what kind of laws intercept with one another to make this sentence even possible!

I thought it was a skit. 😳

As per the videos, making life difficult for roommates, police, medical services, and the courts for quite some time.

Repeatedly doesn't have to face legal or civil consequences for actions because the courts know that they're being misused (as they are by many people) but there isn't an obvious way to handle this until the numbers reach such a tipping point that the legal system is no long able to function.
