Anyone been following this on twitter? He's been attacked for calling Debbie Hayton she in an interview.
Some horrible homophobic stuff and he has left twitter.

The attacks on Janice Turner, Stella Creasey, Kathleen Stock and now Andrew Doyle, people who've been at the forefront of putting themselves on the line over this issue, for years, is so utterly depressing.

Sure, disagree with their decisions make your point but accept good people, really good people in these cases, may make come to a different decision to you sometimes. Particularly when it's complex, tricky, and still being worked through.

Some GC feminists are really revealing themselves to be as authoritian as the TRAs.

I've just been looking at a thread about a TW's death threats to Helen Joyce and KJK.

I can't compare them to what was TwiXed to Andrew Doyle but it's giving me food for thought. Especially if I consider how HJ and KJK are affected by this but carry on vs Doyle's comments to Benjamin Boyce and elsewhere.

I've a very strong feeling that some men are oblivious to the lived reality of the lives of women and how so many women in the public eye just have to carry on because it's not remarkable to them. It's not for lack of examples when I think of Joanna Cherry and so many others. But is it somehow not happening to real people? Yet again, is it the sense that we all really understand that women are support humans so it's not the same thing at all?

That's a brilliant interview with Peter Boghossian RethinkingLife

Isn't it. Between Peter B and Helen J, I need a weekend in which I do nothing but watch their videos and make notes.

But, I need to practise. And that's the more difficult part.

The victim blaming is appalling from Boyce. Used to like him and his interviews. Seemed like he got it. Will watch the interviews for the guests only

BB is very much a 'women created this problem' bloke.

anothernamitynamenamechange · 09/02/2024 13:33

Whereas Meghan Murphy absolutely has been open to changing her mind/evolving how she thinks about wider issues and talking about it. I don't even necessarily agree with her on everything but it is interesting reading how some peoples exposure to the trans rights issue has affected how they thought about other issues/howin some cases it made them more sympathetic to opposing viewpoints.

Boyce came into this from the angle of being anti-SJW/the "wokeness" spreading through universities (which I agree with him on). But "feminists"**= part of the SJW problem in his mind.

**In quotes because for some men feminist = any woman disagreeing with a man.

anothernamitynamenamechange · 09/02/2024 13:27

I can't find it but I can remember a (very good) bit Boyce did on the Toronto library protest. He mentioned radical feminists/Meghan Murphy and said something along the lines of "I consider Meghan my friend even though we disagree. At least I hope she's my friend/doesn't hate me". Its weird because I don't think there was any beef between them at the time or anything like that. It came across almost as if trying to make himself a victim in a hypothetical scenario (where a "radfem" hates him for disagreeing even though he wants to be friends) that hadn't even happened. I know I'm not describing it very well but it was quite out of place within the video. I don't think he has bad intent but I think he started this with a very clear preconception of what other people (women, feminists, SJWs) were like and I don't think he was really open to change it. I don't think his audience want him to either. It is what it is.

I believe boyce and doyle do care passionately about protecting AGP. I really do.

What they are unable to do is justify why feminism and safeguarding should. So instead blame women being extreme and not having the majority belief.

ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 09/02/2024 11:32

TooBigForMyBoots · 09/02/2024 02:11

And don't even get me started on him saying he doesn't even see sex and gender.Hmm

Really Andrew? You've made a quare living out of it on GBN.Angry

I haven't listened to the interview. But of couse he sees sex and gender, sexuality depends on it. Usually what it meant by saying that is it only matters when it matters to them.

anothernamitynamenamechange · 09/02/2024 11:29

There are a lot of commentators/podcasters who see it all as a great big popularity contest.

By definition the types of people to set up podcasts and be good at them are usually people who like attention, and who are good at getting it. That doesn't mean they don't also believe or care passionately about what they are saying or that they are bad people. But it selects for a specific personality.

ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 09/02/2024 11:24

There are a lot of commentators/podcasters who see it all as a great big popularity contest.

They are encouraged to talk about it by viewing figure. And when they do take a stance, try to claim to be right by the number of supporters. "Most people want to find a middle ground or compromise"

AD used to teach, he should know it doesn't matter how many people support the erosion of safeguarding, safeguarding still has to happen.

MatchingBedding · 09/02/2024 09:39

He seems to be getting lots of support, sympathy and publicity over this which is nice for him.

TooBigForMyBoots · 09/02/2024 02:06

OMG that interview.Shock

AD comes across as a right whiny misogynist. He was publicly exploited on his own TV show by a self-confessed AGP. But because some feminists voiced their concerns about it and a feminist on Twitter was mean to him it's women who abused him.Hmm

Wow, Benjamin’s always straight in there for podcasts during a kerfuffle. He always has an eye on the prize… of growing his channel 🤷‍♀️ Given his many anti-feminist statements (whether edge-lording or genuine) I don’t see Boyce as much of a friend to women, but he is happy to use their fight for his own podcast content.

Oh, my bad phrasing. Anna Slatz is the commenter on Zach's lifestyle, and she is a prominent Canadian GC, so it is a catch, as that was seen as a homophobic remark. However, it was not one Doyle himself added to the thread.

These original X thread(s) disappeared, but sweeping accusations* by others remain. There's an element of opportunism about that, IMO.

Edited

Oh, ok!! It's so annoying that Musk has decided to not really allow any access to Twitter unless you have an account. I could browse it quite freely before, but it's got less and less, and now it's virtually nothing. So thank you very much for supplying all that info.

If we're told that all transwomen are AGP then that effectively means all transwomen being barred from teaching.

I don't think the public will remotely understand why that is not transphobic. I certainly don't.

We are not effectively being told that all transwomen are anything. Quite the opposite. TW are as diverse as any other group.Smile

We know that DH has AGP because of the articles, book and interviews done over the years. DH is an actual teacher. This is not a hypothetical situation.

Other than the 4 anons I previously attached (white images, as not my caps), I remember this being included as evidence of homophobia alongside a different cap of anotrher Xr's comment. Anna Slatz of Reduxx wrote it in 2023. It criticises a tiktoker, Zack Willmore a 19 year old living with a HIV diagnosis. It's not empathetic, for sure.

Right. Thank you. He doesn't seem like a gender critical feminist, either.

Speaking of the unnavigability of X, found the initial thread of Duncan being sensible, via PC, not the godawful orgami nesting of the app.

Thanks, genderwoo.

Are there any screenshots of the tweets Andrew is talking about? (Apart from those already posted on here)

''Which brings me to my point which is that there are many agents provocateur on X/Twitter, and not only when it comes to this particular topic, and it makes sense to treat things with some skepticism.''

''Yes! I don't know how people on TwiX navigate the bots, TwiXers looking for a fight, and the evil algorithms.''

Its not foolproof but the algorithms can help - if you are unsure about a user, scroll down their main feed to the bit where Twitter suggests similar accounts to follow.

StephanieSuperpowers · 08/02/2024 20:06

I didn't say anything about barring them. I don't know why you're making things up. I think they need to do their fetish outside work. If they are absolutely compelled to involve pupils in their fetish, they need training to understand why forcing non consenting people to participate (and pupils are unable to consent) is not appropriate for teaching. That's not banning them from teaching, it's maintaining the same standards that apply to all teachers.

So if it was true that the word transwoman could just be a name for men who have a public sexual fetish, you still think they should be able to display it in Schools??
