Why is Mumsnet so GC?

Maybe an odd question but I've never come across another space, online or otherwise, where being GC is the norm. IRL I only ever discuss GC views openly with one family member, whose stance on it is similar to my own, though, so I'm not saying it's unwelcome.... Just curious how/why it's come about. Any thoughts or theories?

The outward assumption of something driven by 'mums' is by society's definition something of little consequence. Patriarchy relies on dividing women - hence the enduring belief by young women that older women are 'out of touch' etc. The sad truth is that any woman with children has in many ways given up her autonomy, her time, her financial freedom - thus making her opinions harmless. At the extreme end, if any 'mums' were to attempt any action which could execute social change they have a ready made foil - their children.

Evolution in action @JanesLittleGirl - happening before our very eyes. 😁

When you look at them closely they make no sense. There's odd legs all over the place, bits of dinosaurs going through tables, all sorts of things wrong. I wouldn't be using them for professional jobs that's for sure, but they'll get there one day! I found it funny that when it turned the vipers into an art deco shot and have them feet and high heels

Ah, the trans, gender stereotypical view of a viper. Happily ignoring the fact that vipers are actually poisonous snakes and the essential characteristic of a snake is that it doesn't have limbs.

I’m on a GC textiles facebook group where someone posted similar AI pics of people knitting. Lots of comments about how hilarious (and heartening) it is that computers evidently haven’t the tiniest clue about what knitting actually Is. The more I look at what they’re doing with their hands the funnier it is, and I don’t even knit! (Apologies for the derail of a derail)

Omg, the expression on that poor rat's face!

sofagofa · 23/02/2024 18:37

I’m willing to bet that the vast majority of the population are GC but are too frightened to be honest about it in real life for fear of being cancelled and losing their job and Mumsnet is seen as one of the only safe spaces where they can share their views.

the AI program at least got the label “rat” right

Talk about "damned by faint praise". 😂

Older and dinosaurs. Got it...

<excited>

That's me in the orange and purple!

I always did have a good eye for colour.

Boiledbeetle · 23/02/2024 13:49

Oh wow! That's an impressive appendage on that rat! I'm fairly sure if that was the case rst traps would be a different design!

Here's some rather funky dinosaurs to clear the rat penis image!

Why is Mumsnet so GC?

Only quoted so we have two giant rat appendages to laugh at! Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention.

I have decided that I love copilot too. I am loving the images.

Has anyone seen the story about the scientific paper that was published with hilariously bad AI produced illustrations and diagrams and had to be retracted by the journal?

I've not seen that

They are far too young.

Don't forget we are dinosaur like too.

Most of them are slimmer than I am (well, all of them, actually . . . ) but other than that the likeness is uncanny. 😂

Love 'em. Especially the last one with the red specs. We should ask MN to change the logo 🤣

A beetle queen!

MAGNIFICENT!!!!

A story about this majestic coleopteran monarch could completely revive Disney. (As long as they didn't "put a chick in it and make her gay" or have her relying on the advice of "magical creatures".)

Boiled - do you give lessons in how to use Co-Pilot? I would gain a lot from being able to make my uninhibited review notes on a paper and then have Co-Pilot or something transform it into something more moderate to return to a journal or funder.

NB: On every relevant paper I review, I ask why there aren't sex-disaggregated data or why, if they exist, they're not in the abstract. I normally have to re-write this as my exasperation might leak through from time to time.

I didn't know it existed until yesterday! I just start with my basic premise of what i want and if it doesn't churn out what I'm looking for I tweak the wording to correct the errors! So I presume you could enter a paragraph and get it to change certain bits of the language

IcakethereforeIam · 23/02/2024 10:10

Brilliant 👏
