Now in year 4 is 'flashing their willy' at the girls.

Hopefully someone can archive the link

When my ds was that age he was a superhero! He would regularly go invisible. (Hide behind something and then suddenly pop out!) He also used to fly to Russia at night and catch baddies. (This was pre Ukraine invasion.) If he caught 10 baddies in one night then he got a treat - to go on an iPad!

Do you want to know a secret - he wasn’t really a superhero!

Reminded me of this

My preschooler doesn’t understand yesterday, today, last week, tomorrow etc. and has regularly asked where my Willy is.

Why aren’t the parents parenting this child? When did vaguely steering in the right direction become synonymous with child abuse?

pronounsbundlebundle · 27/01/2024 03:06

Sorry, that's all I have....several aspects directly breach kcsie.

pronounsbundlebundle · 27/01/2024 03:06

Well, that story has urgent safeguarding referral all over it.

Doesn't that idiot realise sex is a protected characteristic?Hmm

Yup. Someone needs to challenge that guidance. It is plain wrong.

songaboutjam · 27/01/2024 01:49

The main complaint is that the girl doesn't want to befriend boys and that the boy starts hitting them.

The main complaint, which is pretty explicit in the interview with the family members, is that the girl has lost trust in adults.

It is absolutely nobody else's business what is inside a 4 year old's pants. Have you thought the chikd might have been born intersex?

I agree this is a highly odd story and I suspect there is more to it than is being reported.

But if he is genuinely peeing standing up aged 4 and “flashing his willy”, it doesn’t sound like he’s intersex.

A 4 year old cannot 'come out' as transgender. At that age they could be a fecking fish finger one day and a dinosaur the next. They have no clue of sex or gender. This has to be an Insta mommy and daddy exploiting their child for likes and follows.

Absolutely I agree with this. I do think a lot of children are pushed in this direction for sm likes and praise

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 27/01/2024 01:27

I absolutely loathed teaching children to brush their teeth, and the daily reminders never seem to stop being necessary. You have to check that they've actually brushed their teeth for long enough every day, of every week, of every month of every year, for a flipping decade. At one point, we had to buy plaque disclosing tablets to demonstrate to them why and how they weren't brushing their teeth properly. Then there's arranging the dental check-ups around school, provided you can even find a dentist accepting patients.

With any future child, can I just check out of it after four by declaring "it's nobody's business what's in a four year old's mouth", or are we still classing that as neglect?

PeggySooo · 27/01/2024 01:15

When my dcs were young I was in a fb mum group with someone who did this. The mum changed his name legally and everything from about 2.
I unfriended her because I knew she had gender disappointment in her pregnancy with him, and to me it was an obvious ploy to make him into the girl she had wanted. He said he wanted to wear dresses, as a lot of 2yos do regardless of gender, and she ran away with it as fast as possible.
Very odd behaviour.

I'm a tail-end boomer.

When I was 4, I watched a black-and-white war film on telly and informed my mum that - as a 2 yr old - I used to kill Nazis by dropping boulders on them.

AgathaAllAlong · 27/01/2024 01:11

Ridiculous sensationalist article. The main complaint is that the girl doesn't want to befriend boys and that the boy starts hitting them. Newsflash, lots of girls are friends with boys - and most little boys aren't violent to their friends.

“I don’t want to hold hands with boys, Mum. I was only holding Bobby’s hand because I thought she was a girl.”

The interviewed parents say that their daughter has been robbed of her childhood!! What nonsense.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 27/01/2024 01:05

It is absolutely nobody else's business what is inside a 4 year old's pants.

Has anyone told the child this? Seeing as the child is showing the contents of said pants to other children?

Also, may I just highlight the absurdity of the sentence "nobody else's business" on a parenting site, especially when followed with speculation that the child might have one of a range of extremely rare medical conditions, all of which would need management and continued follow-up from specialists?

Even if your child does not have a complex medical condition, parenting is jusr continuous management of "what is inside a child's pants" from birth onwards. It does not stop at four, unless you are an irresponsible ratbag masquerading as a parent!

Sure, the majority of four-year-olds are potty-trained, and so presumably going to the toilet independently, but even for them, occasional accidents are normal, needing support from an adult. Kids of that age still don't necessarily wipe properly. Then there's the urinary tract infections, the constipation, and discovering that all the children in the class have worms from shared playdough.

"Nobody else's business" indeed!

Toseland · 27/01/2024 00:58

How is it possible to completely change society on the sly? How is this happening with no discussion, consultation or expected dissent? How are we just supposed to go along with this?

What if the girls cannot recognise men for being men when they are older? What if they have less instinct, less understanding of their necessary boundaries? Their 'cave women' senses dulled?

Where are all the studies on this that have been done before they implemented this - there are some - right? Where is Gillian Keegan?

Does the CofE have particular expertise in either bullying or the law that qualifies them to issue this guidance?

I imagine as one of the richest entities in the country, they have much expert advice they can draw on.More than you anyway.

The former, probably- perpetration and coverups.

Northernsouloldies · 27/01/2024 00:40

So much simpler when I started primary school (admittedly a long time ago). We even had separate line ups to get In, one for boys, one for girls. I feel sorry for kids now. How and why did it become so complicated.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 27/01/2024 00:36

Binglebong · 26/01/2024 23:06

The Church of England’s guidance for schools on bullying, titled “Valuing All God’s Children’, which includes a foreword by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev Justin Welby, states: “The protected characteristic of gender reassignment only works one way – not being transgender is not a protected characteristic.

“Consequently schools can make adjustments to meet the needs of a trans pupil without being accused of discriminating against non-trans pupils.”

Fucking hell. Definitely no hierarchy there.

Cricky only one way, hasn't heard of fluid, pan, star and Omni etc? And which way is non binary going?

The man is an idiot.

Great post @MouseMinge!

duc748 · 27/01/2024 00:30

I'd agree with all of that, Mouse, So sad that children are being let down like this.

MouseMinge · 27/01/2024 00:25

That little boy is being damaged by all of this. He's bullying, he's acting out and because of his "protected characteristic" he's getting away with it.

I think there's an element of "reward" in it for him, not that I think he would even understand it in that way. Being a girl makes him special to his parents and because he's special he gets more love, more attention, more - as we'd have put it when I was a child - spoiled. He's living the lie of his parents and the better he lives that lie the more he gets from them. Right now, in terms of his ability to understand the game they're making him play, there is nothing but reward for him and he's a child, of course he's happy to "be a girl" because that's what makes him special and being special, etc.

Interestingly, because he is a spoiled boy he is showing the sort of behaviour one would expect from a spoiled boy of that age. He's acting out, because he can, after all there seem to be no repercussions for him punching a girl in the stomach or other violent acts. If he was seen as the little boy he is he'd be punished for that behaviour but he isn't, so why not be even naughtier? After all he's not going to get into trouble, Until one day, of course, he will. And as he gets older the pretence that his parents are pushing will be a more obvious lie. It's easy to pass as a boy or a girl when we're that young, less so once puberty kicks in. He's already taller and stronger than the girls and that will only become more pronounced.

I'm sorry, I'm sort of rambling, trying to get my thoughts in order. This currently spoiled, "special" little boy will be damaged by this game that grown adults who should know better are playing. This "protected characteristic" isn't protecting Bobby at all and it's in danger or ruining his life. The girls have lost their trust and innocence which is absolutley appalling but I dread to think what he is losing and what he still stands to lose.
