Raising awareness of a very damming report that will be released tomorrow by the woman's rights network based on many FOI requests.

Particularly since it was supposed to confer legal rights such as marriage and pension rights.

Not a right of access to a non consenting woman's body.

I don't think those who argued against the GRA in the HoC had any idea of how foully men can behave and how far they will push any loophole to abuse women. I don't think many of us here realised either. But this is why the GRA has to be repealed. And before the inevitable crap starts, I do not give a crap about anything further: sexual assault of women is NOT the acceptable cost of peace in Northern Ireland or the control of global warming or anything else.

At this point they might as well just give out certificates which allow men to abuse women, take away their rights, coercively control and gaslight them and treat them as less than human legally. At least that would be honest.

In fact, that might make it worse.

They are always saying that a GRC doesn’t confer additional rights but it would appear we are heading towards a situation where it confers the right to a man to lawfully assault a woman. Strikes me that’s quite a significant additional right.

Froodwithatowel · 11/01/2024 08:07

The report actually mentions the irrelevance of a GRC and that it is improper to ask to see one, therefore any man is entitled to start groping women prisoners from the moment he 'presents as a woman' (definition not included).

Chris Phillips is apparently fine with men abusing women, he's just wanting to talk about which men.

IcakethereforeIam · 10/01/2024 23:08

The Times have done an article on it

https://archive.ph/Tx9GP archive link

Including the Minister's latest comments, that I suspect will be ignored by the Police anyway. Not a word about women expected to search biological men or men expected to search biological females. I wouldn't give a shiny shit if the Policeman sexually assaulting me had a piece of paper that said he claimed to think he had a lady brain. In fact, that might make it worse.

Also, what about in Prisons, Young Offender Institutions, Asylums, going through Customs? Can men with lady brains assault women and girls there too?

Trans police officers ‘should have gender ID papers to carry out strip search’

Ministers have told police chiefs to stop transgender officers conducting strip searches unless they have a gender recognition certificate.Research from the Women’s Rights Network found that the

Chris Philp and other Ministers need to get their heads around single sex exemptions in the Equality Act. Fast. This is not rocket science and if thousands of women have got a good understanding of the legislation, then why the heck can’t politicians?
Strip searching should be subject to a single sex exemption - always. So a GRC shouldn’t even come into it.
I still can’t quite get over the fact that police chiefs believe that this is so important to attract more of these men to the service. Like, HELLO? Why exactly would a service beset with scandals feel that access to women’s naked bodies is a game changer for recruitment?

Froodwithatowel · 10/01/2024 17:53

And by what?

Always come back to that.

Terribly terribly upset men, upset over what exactly?

Not being allowed to get their hands intimately on the body of a female, with her consent having been rendered irrelevant.

I mean really, how many red flags do you need?

It was my absolute peaking moment. I cried as I watched the debate on Parliament TV. To see my elected representatives state that validation and not upsetting certain men was more important than traumatised women was horrendous - the lack of empathy for those women is and was callous and shocking.

Just makes me think of the Forensic Medical Services Bill here where there was a distinct feeling that certain parties and individuals felt that it was necessary for traumatised women to suck up their trauma in order that other people felt validated.

Is it really going to be a source of enormous distress to a trans police officer (or nurse) that they just do not do searches, or provide intimate care to someone who has requested a same sex carer?

How? Why?

I've always had serious doubts about anyone who puts their own personal emotional feelings above those of their patient/ pupil/ person they're in charge of in a professional capacity.

The only situation would be verbal / physical abuse, but even then it's taken as given when you enter some professions that you are at risk of working with such individuals and you're given strategies and personal safeguarding to accommodate that.

There are a lot of people who take huge offence a lot of things, including professional criticism. Just because they think they are the right person for the job doesn't mean they are.

OP posts:
SirChenjins · 10/01/2024 15:33

@Froodwithatowel It's not going to cause them distress in reality, but they have to go along with the charade that it does otherwise it proves the point that they are biologically not women, and this causes Hurt Feelings apparently. Male privilege as per.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 10/01/2024 15:31

How? Why?

Because they're not being validated? We've seen how much rage that can induce. Remember what happened when the 'open' swimming category was offered, not one person entered.

Karensalright · 10/01/2024 14:47

@Signalbox @Thelnebriati funny that i have been thinking about this since just me post.

Why does everything have to be made so complicated by those in authority.

The police could quite easily state that strip searches can only be conducted by a person of the same biological sex.

I could not imagine that a GRC holder would make a complaint that they are being discriminated against on the grounds they are not allowed to intimately, search certain people, and what detriment would that involve to them anyway?

Its not about GRC holders rights though is it, its about the man/woman's, rights to some dignity in a horrible situation.

Thelnebriati · 10/01/2024 14:28

Look at this from the POV of the person being searched.
If I'm threatened with a strip search by someone who appears to be male I can't ask to see their GRC, they aren't going to show me their birth certificate, their warrant card can be falsified, and their colleagues cannot legally out them as trans so I'm going to be gaslit by a group of police officers lying to my face.

PACE specifies sex, not gender identity. There are other situations where having a GRC does not change a persons legal gender, and this should be one of them.

Posted today. Still concerning that this man thinks holding a GRC should be the criteria.

Just watched this. Completely shocking! This is Chris Phillip MP who is currently Minister of State (Home Office). Why on earth does he think that a stupid certificate should entitle a male police officer to strip search a woman in custody? What does he think will happen when Labour become the next government and bring in self ID (or make it super easy to get a GRC?) If the Tories do anything at this point they should be correcting these bloody loopholes that allow men to abuse women just because they have a certificate saying they are of the opposite sex. It's so bloody infuriating!

WelshSerafina · 09/01/2024 21:11

Well exactly.
You’d think politicians would intervene wouldn’t you? I understand that the Chief Constable of each force has operational independence though from above.
Having said that, the Police Crime Commissioners are elected by us and hold each Chief to account and can fire them.
Perhaps it’s (once again) down to women. We should all go and see them and make it clear we’ll vote them out and vote in ones who’ll have a bit more sense. Check the stance of each force in the WRN report and go armed with the info.

Datun · 09/01/2024 12:17

If MPs are willing to let this happen, wtf are we paying them for? If the law is made and controlled in practice by whatever nutcase extremist group has the gall, why bother with the expense of parliament?

Quite.

Froodwithatowel · 09/01/2024 09:40

The report makes it very obvious, they have downloaded policy wholesale from extremist activists who believe that you control the law by ignoring it, training organisations in what you want, making sure that what happens on the ground is what you want by your evangelised sheep, and leave the government with two options. Do the massive massive job of forcing these organisations back into compliance with the law, or let it all roll until eventually some captured political party (waves at Starmer) changes the law to what you tell him.

If MPs are willing to let this happen, wtf are we paying them for? If the law is made and controlled in practice by whatever nutcase extremist group has the gall, why bother with the expense of parliament?

Datun · 09/01/2024 01:24

If it's not even legal, where the hell are they getting their advice.

If it's Stonewall or any other trans lobby group, they need investigating.

It's not good enough that these groups are leading our institutions down illegal paths and then claiming their hands are completely clean afterwards, because it's not them making the actual decisions.

ffs.

The home office needs to grab a microphone and say loud and clear that mixed sex strip searching is not allowed.

fromorbit · 08/01/2024 12:56

Worth noting various trans police/military staff have been discovered to be criminals:

Worst cases:

Multiple Sex offender

EDI officer convicted of Explosives charges, Possession of weapons,

Froodwithatowel · 08/01/2024 12:41

Yes.

Reflecting, I'm not sure whether I'm more concerned/revolted at the thought of a distressed, frightened, non consenting woman being forced to comply with handling a male because he wants her to, or at the thought of a woman who believes that letting said male use her body is an important demonstration of her righteousness.

Chersfrozenface · 08/01/2024 12:30

"And let's just check - is it privileged, affluent, well protected and represented women who are going to find themselves at the sharp end of this abhorrent practice?*

Actually one other group this might affect sre female protesters e.g climate campaigners. Some such protesters claim to have been strip searched in ghe past.

Still, given the huge overlap in the Venn diagram of climate protesters and gender ideologues, that specific cohort should have no particular complaint about the officers being transwomen.

Froodwithatowel · 08/01/2024 10:47

It always comes down to should it be a legal requirement for women to validate men with their bodies.

At all.

Some of those women may genuinely believe that those men are something other and different to other men, and that their internal sense of self expression has meaning to other people.

Other women may believe that those male people are enacting a fiction that is no different to expressing themselves as a Klingon or a cat.

All these women are fully entitled to their own perceptions.

Many people of both sexes seem to believe there is a difference between a male sincerely believing he is a woman and a male pretending to be a woman, and that the objective experience of the woman is ok or not ok, dependent on the decision made about the male person's subjective sincerity ffs.

Why are women's realities ever supposed to be predicated on what may or may not be going on inside a man's head?

And why the actual fuck has the police and law of this country become involved with this to the point of being threatening, coercive, threatening and applying punishment and actual forcible assault to make women provide access to their body to validate a man?

Great post.

Yes, this policy, in a nutshell, is about prioritising a man's inner feelings over women's feelings to the point of forcing / coercing women to validate men with their bodies.

It's like Taliban beliefs with a gloss of queer theory.
