Whatever happened to going high when someone goes low?

Using an abusive slur about a group of women which probably includes most of her female constituents?
Er... the person she's replying to set the tone and words used, now people are moaning it's a slur when someone uses it back at them?
Seems it's seen as a slur only when it fits.
She's got every right to block someone who's basically just given her a heads up they're likely on planning on trolling her.

Anyone who doesn't agree that trans women belong in women's toilets, changing rooms, communal showers, rape crisis groups, prisons, hospital wards and sporting categories is a "TERF". That includes most people who aren't completely disconnected from reality.

If you are incapable of responding in an appropriate manner to the person who has actually annoyed you without using a term which constitutes hate speech and could be applied to the vast majority of the electorate, you have no business being an MP.

Looking forward to Keir Starmer condemning her disgraceful behaviour.

Oh no, he's too busy fretting about Rosie Duffield stating the bloody fucking obvious about only women having a cervix.

Seeing as she's replying to someone being a knob presumably thinking they're funny or something (My NYE resolution is to t*RF Kate Osborne) can't say I blame her responding like that to be fair.

Anyone responding like that isn't fit for public office.

My new year's resolution is to keep a running tally of Labour MPs saying things like this and if it gets as high as 50 before the general election I will actually vote Tory.

Ask and you shall receive

It's a depressing read

When MPs and public bodies Tweet with replies turned off
its either a masochistic desire to be ratioed
or because the know they should not have hit the "post" button

Yes, turning comments off, says everything really. What a disgrace she is.

LondonLass91 · 31/12/2023 17:08

GauntJudy · 31/12/2023 15:12

Yeah in response to someone being twattish. So what, she's a decent MP who cares about her community, we could do with more like her.

"Twattish' ? 🤣

duc748 · 31/12/2023 17:08

She seems very dim. Her v Badenoch was painful watching. And it's not like she's a kid; she's 57!

LarkLane · 31/12/2023 17:04

Another MP selling her own sex down the river, hiding in her little Twitter bubble.
I can't begin to describe how pissed off I am in my later years, at these utterly pathetic wannabe cool girl politicians.

She is emotionally and intellectually adolescent.

She really is, she’s an embarrassment and I’m not sure why anyone would vote for her.

RebelliousCow · 31/12/2023 16:44

Most Labour MPs are still trying to frame the issue of 'women's rights versus tans ideology' as a " Tory Culture War". They seem unable to see it in any other way. Everything has to be placed in a box or categories according to tribal allegiance. When you buy into one idea or policy you are supposed to subscribe to all of them.

They aren't half going to get a shock when this issue persists when/if they get elected.

Floisme · 31/12/2023 16:41

Kate Osborne isn't just an MP, she represents Labour on the Women and Equalities Select Committee.

I think it's time for Starmer to remind his party that he expects them to support single sex spaces.

Theinnocenteyeballsinthesky · 31/12/2023 16:32

I remember when politicians generally had a certain amount of poise and gravitas

KO probably thinks gravitas is a film with George Clooney

Froodwithatowel · 31/12/2023 16:14

What can you do with someone who just identifies out of people who mention issues that challenge her?

Well. Not making them an MP or letting them run the country is a damned good start.

My NY resolution? Not to vote for anyone who lacks the capacity to cope with reality.

RebelliousCow · 31/12/2023 16:09

Wow! The middle finger for Sharron Davies because she stands up for women's sports. Honestly, the conduct of so many MPs and public figures is shocking.

That's what happens with those with no rationale or arguments to articulate. They resort to abuse - it's all they have.
A bit of a shame when they're elected representatives but she's just one of Starmer's many emotionally incontinent MPs to manage.

RebelliousCow · 31/12/2023 16:09

PronounssheRa · 31/12/2023 15:42

She has form for ill judged behaviour

He she is with Linda Riley, showing their disapproval of Sharon Davies.

I'd say she's unprofessional and disrespectful. People in such responsible public positions should not be posting on twitter in such a way.

Furthermore her performance at the recent 'Women and Equalities Committee' was embarrassing and juvenile. This is what hides beneath Starmer's carefully orchestrated public messaging; don't be in doubt.

Waitwhat23 · 31/12/2023 16:04

On a related note, the amount of elected representatives who use block lists to make sure they can't hear any dissenting voices from the people they are meant to represent is quite astonishing.

During the Rutherglen and Hamilton West byelection, I clicked on the Twitter account of the SNP candidate, Katy Louden, to see what she had to say. I was blocked. Had never heard of her before the election and had never previously interacted with her. And I was far from the only one.

The SNP lost that byelection in quite a spectacular fashion. Perhaps if they'd been less keen on blocking women.....

RebelliousCow · 31/12/2023 16:02

This woman is supposed to be an MP. There to represent her varied constituents, not to act in such an unprofessional and disrespectful manner.

GauntJudy · 31/12/2023 15:12

Half of her community (as an elected representative in a democracy) is female. A majority of those would be classed as terfs, as defined by a belief in the importance of bio sex rather than feelings as the basis of laws.

She has therefore either: admitted that she has resolved to stop representing a large part of her community; or revealed that she only gives a flying shite about a very specific community.

In either case she should stop pretending to be a democratic representative, stop taking the money and resign.

Or grow the fuck up and step out of her echo chamber.

In neither case do we need more like her.

Oh dear. So a woman communicating the needs of women and girls, ie. female people to an elected representative of a UK government is not worthy of being listened to by that MP?

Good to know. That communications with an MP must only be of the topics that that MP and Judy agree with.
