She’s absolutely spot on. I’m sure there’ll be a backlash but most people will completely agree.

The DM has many faults but it does seem to be the one MSM outlet that’s shining a light on the madness of gender ideology .

JULIE BINDEL: This gender ideology is a crime against a generation

JULIE BINDEL: Over the last generation, our society has thankfully moved away from compelling children to be 'proper' boys and girls. But now all that has changed in a very disturbing way.

Posters who say it is only the DM that covers trans issues are wrong. It is not true. The Daily Telegraph covers trans issues in its news columns, its features and its sports section pretty much every single day. I realise that being conceived as right wing, reading it could bring on an attack of the vapours among some posters, but honestly if posters believe it is only the DM on the case they must be going round with their eyes closed.

OK, so you're happy with the article and most of what JB has written, but you object to two specific phrases used. Why make so many posts dwelling on this rather than commenting on your agreement with the rest of the article?

You said yourself that "do gooder" is used by many people of all political persuasions about many different people whose actions they disagree with, and that it's not inherently right wing.

The other phrase you objected to is "right on". This is often used against so-called progressives by people who are more socially conservative, but not necessarily right wing.

Adopting DM language when writing for the DM seems appropriate to me. It will appeal to their readers. She would have written a different article for the Telegraph or Times - or the Guardian if they'd let her.

I have literally only answered your posts and a couple of others. Am I breaking some rules?

I guess you have to question why the articles linked on this board are always to the DM shit rag

I guess you have to conclude that the left wing press is captured and won't investigate these kinds of stories.

I watched an interview by the The Times on YouTube with Hadley Freeman the other day, and from what she said, I don’t think she wants to write about gender ideology anymore. She seemed to think that Labour’s slight move in the right direction meant that it was all sorted now. She wants to concentrate more on writing about anti-semitism.

I thought the same, felt like she had said all that needed to be said, didn't want to keep repeating herself and was looking foward to moving on to other subjects.

ResisterRex · 28/12/2023 15:36

The Times has gone tumbleweeds. Any follow up to their expose of mermaids and discord? NOPE

They are not. I have seen linked articles form the Independent, Metro, Telegraph, Times, Observer, Guardian and other less mainstream sites.

I don't think it is true that the Times has stopped featuring this issue, but i do note how much Janice Turner wants to be able to vote Labour - so she's now pretending that Labour has undergone a Volte Face on trans issues.

I think it's more relevant to question why none of the left wing media will report on these important issues.

cerisepanther73 · 28/12/2023 13:16

Of course this 🙄 Journalist is right with her article in Daily Mail,

She sassy 😍 ballsy and emotionally intelligent to see this issue for what it really is and the ramifications for society that will filter down in so many ways,

It's like Mary Shellys Frankestein story with extremists Trans males and their supporters doing a insidiously pervasive social experiments attempts on society's most malleable and naive ones at stages 😳 in their lives in which they are at their most vunerable.

we look back on histories social experiments and psychological ramifications, such as Labotemotemy and electric therapy for mental health disturbances,
and in medieval times " blood letting" cranial drilling ancient times ect,
and we often think 🤔 on how on earth could they think and do that,
it can't surely be real,

I wonder society in future will view this medical social experiments in the same way,

Also Trans extremists witch 🧙‍♂️ hunts on J.K.Rowling Author and anyone who doesn't agree with anything associated with their cause and mission,

Doesn't it remind you of medieval Britain and America and the persecutions of wise women known as witches in villages ect?,

It's remisant of that time,

And some people think history is just a pointless dead subject full of spiders and cobwebs,

It's weird how aspects of history can morph repeat in ways.

If only societies learnt from history was emotionally evolved enough.

Floisme · 28/12/2023 13:12

Anyway I'm getting distracted again. Does anyone have any knowledge of what gets talked about in these kinds of referral? I'm assuming most of the discussion is with the parents/carers rather than with a 3 or 4 year-old child?

I’ve met a few trans women through the work that I do and all were sexually abused and traumatised when they were young. I appreciate that I have only see a a snapshot but I agree with every word that Julie says here. Severe trauma can’t be cured by the illusion that you can change sex. It doesn’t help in the long run.

This cannot be said enough and I'm so glad that now it can at least be said a little. Great piece by Julie Bindel and let's hope 2024 brings even more sunlight and common sense on this issue.

Brefugee · 28/12/2023 13:09

well yes. And it is a hard habit to break. I am more receptive to strangers not thinking me kind than i am to strangers thinking I'm RW though.

I do realise that's a me-problem though.

Floisme · 28/12/2023 13:06

It is the same with GC (2nd wave feminism) and the trans issue (with an added side of many women fearing not being seen as "kind") - when you have been part of a class struggle for years, you don't appreciate being lumped in with your opponents. Even if it is only on one single issue.
I imagine that's why they do it.

Brefugee · 28/12/2023 13:01

WarriorN · 28/12/2023 12:41

It's so hard as, as this story and data illustrates, girls in one of the the most deprived areas of the country are being targeted by child sex abusers and then again (transed) by the social workers who are supposed to be helping them.

We urgently need a government who can tackle this kind of problem radically from both angles.

it's a difficult one. When we think back to the Rotherham sex abuse scandal, we have to face up to the fact that some agencies WERE afraid to "profile" because it was clear who the gang were and what community they ostensibly belonged to.

But the SW and Police were scared to mention the most salient point, and as it was (less than) working class girls who were being targeted (white ones at that) it took a while for anything to happen. And when it did? it was half-hearted. And part of the reason was the fear of being thought of as racist. And of the fear that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" thinking would put people trying to highlight the issue firmly on the same side as Tommy Robinson and his merry band of utter racists. It is the same with GC (2nd wave feminism) and the trans issue (with an added side of many women fearing not being seen as "kind") - when you have been part of a class struggle for years, you don't appreciate being lumped in with your opponents. Even if it is only on one single issue.

Racism=unacceptable
Homophobia=unacceptable
Misogyny=nothing to see here

Floisme · 28/12/2023 11:55

So many parallels between the obstacles JB faced then and the obstacles now.

It's the same mindset isn't it? Then it was the press not wanting to point the finger at some of the men in the grooming gangs because of fear of being called racist. Now it's the same left-wing press not wanting to call out transgender ideology for what it is for fear of being called a right wing bigot and anti-LGBT.

I see JT along these lines. Very keen to vote Labour and ready to sell in a supposed change

It’s not the case though really

WarriorN · 28/12/2023 12:14

Something bad, anyway.

Generally just women are bad seems to cover it . 1st rule of misogyny: Women are responsible for what men do.

Oh please don't criticise my looks..it's so important to me as a woman that people find me attractive. What other power do I have?

Whatever you think of Posie, she is out there bringing this to people's attention at risk to her own safety.

Feminist killjoy pearl-clutching buzzkills. As ever. With all the boring old whiny concerns about safeguarding and children, determined to get in the way of the good old chaps who just want to have a bit of fun?! Must be fash. Or bigots. Something bad, anyway.
