The term "gender identity" used to be used to mean a child's understanding of what sex they were. It was used that way in academic papers about child development.

It's now been twisted to mean the sex a person wants to be, regardless of their actual sex. I think that's how @Tandora is using it. The definition of what a gender identity is becomes circular when used that way which is why @Tandora's definition doesn't make sense.

Everyone has a basic sex. There fixed it for you. Sex cannot be changed. I know what sex I am.

People might chose to live as they perceive females or makes live eg by wearing dresses, make up and growing hair, cutting hair, often using stereotypical ideas of male and female, however they still have a biological sex which cannot be changed. They might add bits or chop bits off but tge Dna is there in the cells and not how someone feels.

I agree that not allowing girls to wear trousers to school is regressive. Trousers are perfectly acceptable attire for women and girls and insisting that girls wear skirts to school is pretty regressive (does that still happen?)

Use of pronouns is not stereotyping. Pronouns for people denote sex. We use male pronouns for male people and female pronouns for female people. This says nothing about your personality.

You're right that suggesting that some activities are "for boys" or "for girls" is stereotyping. This really shouldn't be happening. What have you been prevented from doing?

In that case "gender" is entirely subjective.

If you make the concepts of "man" and "woman" entirely subjective then you can't assign rights to them which belonged to those words when they referred to something material.

You can't have it both ways - if you want to divorce gender identities from biological sex then do so but you then have no logical claim on rights that appertain to sex.

Interesting that sex exists, and gender is how people understand their own sex, but at the same time people can have a gender that is different to their sex isn't it! Almost like...it doesn't make any sense

Ah. So we've reached the 'yes absolutely children should be made to undress in front of a child of the opposite sex because it suits my adult politics' posters.

Take your own kit off in front of whoever you want. Deny reality, embrace naturalism, follow the faith of your choice and do whatever floats your boat. You're an adult and whatever boundary issues you may have are your problem. But no adult should be using their own or other people's children in their own agendas and psychological enactments, and children must be protected from adults who are out to try.

I should add, that no doubt there will also be a biological underpinning to gender.

Of course a boy can enter the boys' changing room, because he's a boy. He shouldn't enter the girls' changing room (because he's a boy, not a girl). Boys' bodies are not the same as girls' bodies. I'm sure you know that really.

Again, please spell out your concern. Can boys enter other boys changing rooms and “expose themselves and watch other boys dressing?” Do we need guidance to prevent this?

The only people promoting regressive stereotypes are the people writing nonsense guidance that says that because I have a vagina I must wear a certain type of uniform to school or be addressed by a certain type or pronoun or engage in certain types of activities.
