I'm all for it being statutory though it doesn't go far enough.

WarriorN · 06/02/2024 06:34

I do know a lot of charities have said to ignore it. Barnardos for example.

WarriorN · 06/02/2024 06:34

I keep reading that and am failing to see where the neu has officially said to ignore it.

Kebede has so far been v neutral on this. Labour schools minister actually welcomed it. The quote from another neu leader was his personal opinion on twitter. Can't comment on the other union.

I haven't seen anything from the neu on it at all.

A friend of mine works in artsy stuff. One fellow dressed up as her (same hello kitty leggings and T-shirt). Weird. Not as weird as - oh yes really - cat girl. As in kitty cat not super villain.

Regarding inappropriate work photos.

So, can someone who's a naturist in their home life have a bollock naked staff photo? How far does it go?

What if they're a furry? Gimp outfit?

At what point should a workplace say 'um, you 'expressing yourself' is putting off the customers / making other staff uncomfortable / making doing the job impossible'. What if one person's dress (or lack thereof) is an affront to another person's religion? Isn't this why business attire was invented?

pronounsbundlebundle · 16/01/2024 14:54

Encouraging children in the idea that someone having a different opinion is literal violence and akin to not wanting you to exist is also emotionally abusive.

It's also undermining the parent - child relationship more generally.

And on the other hand, parents are supposed to force kids who are scared / anxious / hate school / have SEN but no support into school and fined if they don't. What happened to respecting their inner identity (someone who doesn't go to school today) then?

We're supposed to believe on one hand that kids with trans identities are uniquely vulnerable to mental health crisis and bullying

And that they are mentally robust enough to handle the psychological pressure of keeping a massive secret about who they are, that hundreds of people in their school know and could reveal at any time even by accident, from their parents who they live with and switch between the two identities daily, perhaps multiple times. With the threat that their parents will reject them and perhaps harm them if they knew that they didn't conform to gender stereotypes.

They can't have it both ways.

How socially isolated those children must be. How much training and support are given to full adults who live double lives as part of their jobs (undercover detectives, spies etc)?

Basic safeguarding and psychological safety.

This a million times. I've tried to point this out before. If they're really concerned the parents will harm the child if they find out (which they will if the whole bloody school knows and there is forced compliance with wrong sex pronouns which other children may really be very unhappy about, and tell their parents ) then that should be dealt with in the normal way via social services and the police i.e. they should remove the children if there's an imminent threat.

The problem they have with this is it's all bullshit. Most of these parents only have their children's best interests and wellbeing at heart, certainly much more so than those willing to sacrifice their mental wellbeing for an ideology.

I love the point about spies. Yes, living a double life is very difficult, even for a highly trained adults - teachers imposing this upon children are emotionally abusing those children. It's clear as day and those going along with it are enabling abuse.

But they're lying, aren't they?

You try bringing your homosexual female self to work and explaining that you do not do men regardless of how the man explains he feels internally at the time, because you see homosexual as meaning same sex attracted with sex being fixed from birth.

Or turning up to work in an adult human female t shirt.

Only some people get to let it all hang out and express their little selves. It's like only some people get to choose their language and coercively label others. And only some people get to be allowed a sincere inner belief about themselves. And only some people have to be tiptoed around while others have to 'reframe their trauma'.

These are not values equally applied to all, this is just wall to wall bullshit to do with enabling coercive control and escaping boundaries on appropriate behaviour. So much of this is to do with a desire to break other people's boundaries.

Oh i agree, it's a load of bollocks.

HoneyButterPopcorn · 16/01/2024 13:00

Kids are being sold lies. No wonder so many seen desperately unhappy.

gender ideology inherently denies and discards the rights of others.

That needs to be on t shirts and billboards.

Well said and those 'some' people have one thing in common - they're almost exclusively male.

A few women and children are allowed into the club to try and pretend it's not all about a certain aspect of toxic male personalities. But we all know, everyone knows. If the people pushing this logic defying & dangerous ideology weren't male they wouldn't be pandered to.

I'm so pleased to see Helen Joyce finally catching up with what we've known on here for so long - gender ideology inherently denies and discards the rights of others. At the most basic, fundamental level. The rights of women and children predominantly.

I can't stop thinking about whether Amy/Andrew Miller's victim had been told repeatedly at school that to clock a transwoman as male would mean she was 'bigoted' - we know this is being taught in schools, particularly Scottish ones. I wonder to what extent that overrode any evolutionarily hard wired red flags that jumped up when she got into that car that maybe getting into an enclosed space with an adult male wasn't a good idea.

Of course we're not allowed to care about safeguarding and ask these questions under this ideology.

IcakethereforeIam · 16/01/2024 09:33

Can you imagine if someone said the gender critical equivalent of half the stuff he's reported as saying and advocating for? Their feet wouldn't touch, they'd be out the door so fast. Presumably, leaving a wake of dying tp (those unfortunate enough to have been within earshot 😔).

I know, we have to let everyone express their personality at all times. "Bring your whole self to work". No. Please don't.

I say this as a steampunker who wears similar outfits. But not at work! Compartmentalising is important.

Edited for typo.

I’m happy to bring myself to work to speak out against this! HR know my thoughts (and agree). I’m too old and knackered to play.

Possibly 'professionality' has become a bourgeois thing. Like 'ethics'.

Binglebong · 14/01/2024 20:15

That looks like a steampunk outfit. It will depend how much they are encouraged to do casual pictures or professional ones.

IcakethereforeIam · 14/01/2024 18:25

I wonder how many women in the Civil Service have themselves in a strapless frock in their profile picture?

CriticalCondition · 14/01/2024 00:18

At first glance I wondered if this person was wearing some kind of clerical collar. As someone in the comments has helpfully pointed out, the Telegraph appears to be using a cropped photo. The full version appears on this person's official civil service profile page.

I think 'Governors for Schools' have amended their wording and all this stuff that was previously contradicting government guidance, is no longer there. I can't find it on their website anymore. They should also remove their references to 'trans' students and replace it with 'gender questioning' to align with the guidance, but I think it's reasonable to expect this to happen going forward, rather than the website content to be corrected retrospectively.
