Taxpayer-funded children's show with 'trans voices' branded tasteless

Scheduled shows at the Southbank include queer cabaret and 'tour around the human body' with trans, non-binary doctor

Upcoming events at the London arts centre will also include a show titled “The Faggots and Their Friends Between Revolutions”, an “unforgettable celebration of queer activism”, and another about dancer who wants to translate their moves into “renewable energy”, according to dance company Marlborough Productions.

The Centre, which receives £16,828,042 in annual funding from Arts Council England, will play host to “Pxssy Liquor’s Office Christmas Party”, “a cabaret collective for queer gals and nb [non-binary] pals” that provides an “antidote to the male-gaze saturated cabaret scene”.

As part of its “Imagine Children’s Festival” in 2024, the Centre has an event taking place called “Little Big Sing with Trans Voices”, marketed for 5+.

The organisers said: “After witnessing the growing <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/11Y4B/www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/09/21/trans-prejudice-doubles-three-years-jk-rowling-cancel/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">anti-trans rhetoric specifically aimed at children, both artists felt an urgent need to effect change and create a provision for mental wellness.”

Other events include “a tour around the human body with trans non-binary emergency doctor Dr Ronx”, an “inspiring, interactive writing session for children, with social justice at its heart” and an author discussing his debut novel, Pity, “a lament for a lost way of life”, about two brothers from a mining town, one with a “side hustle in sex work” and “weekly drag gigs”.

Why does the doctor (or anyone else who is non binary for that matter) need to announce it. I am agnostic. This has no bearing on my job. I would never mention it. It’s the self obsessed performative nature of it all that is so tedious. Honestly? You’re non binary? No-one cares. It’s not remotely interesting, nor is being trans. Try developing a personality, or doing something useful or helpful without announcing your ‘identity’.

So no one here is willing to go with the logical conclusion of claiming Dr Ronx should not perform to kids by virtue of being non-binary.

So what is the difference?

A non-binary doctor doing a show where there is no indication at all that they bring the fact of being non-binary into the show should be kept away from kids, but a non-binary teacher teaching where there is no indication at all that they bring the fact of being non-binary into their teaching should not.

If Dr Ronx is doing a talk as a doctor, I think that's OK for kids. If Dr Ronx is doing a talk as a non binary doctor, my kid wouldn't be going near it. The big problem is that these oddballs tend to be evangelical about their bizarre beliefs and there's no guarantee that they won't try to introduce them. If a non binary person is giving a talk about human bodies, how do you guarantee that they're not going to promote the idea that some bodies don't have a sex?

IcakethereforeIam · 18/12/2023 12:46

If Dr Ronx is doing a show for small children about the human body are we sure she doesn't talking about the usual gender nonsense? It's hard to see how it can be avoided.

Is she flogging a kids book that indulges this tripe? Will she be flogging that at the venue?

If the good Doctor doesn't delve into genderwoo in front of her impressionable audience, I don't see a problem. Although, by her beliefs she'd be being a bit terfy.

Much the same with teachers who identify as nonbinary, furries, swingers, whatever, they keep it out of the school, there should not be a problem.

£16 MILLION??? That has to be a joke surely?

I think Dr Ronx should be nowhere near kids.

Also, teachers who say they are non binary should be nowhere near kids.

It's like you read words and then mix them up into nonsense, which leads me to believe that you are caught up in this lie and are just trying to confuse people.

Dr Ronx can perform in any venue that is interested.

I personally would not consider Dr Ronx an appropriate role model for my child, which is sad, because as a working class black lesbian working as a doctor she would have been a great role model.

And I think that these venues should be making more of an effort to platform people who are actually good role models with positive messages to teach children.

So that brings us back to what should happen to non-binary teachers?

You object to non-binary people having influence over kids - irrespective of whether they are doing anything remotely relevant to gender identity - so what should happen to a teacher who identifies as non-binary?

Teachers can be non binary if they want. What they may not do is attempt to drag impressionable children into their bizarre world view.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 18/12/2023 10:26

Lionel Shriver is an arse. There is nothing progressive or left about plays like that, and she is wrong to tarnish the left with statements like that.

(Obviously I don't agree with the play, and I do agree with the rest of her analysis).

Non binary teachers should be told to stop being so fucking stupid and to either stop pretending they don't know what sex they are or leave the premises permanently.

On the other hand, maybe more non binary teachers are exactly what is needed to make teenagers decide it isn't cool or edgy anymore.

PatatiPatatras · 18/12/2023 09:49

Teachers are all sorts of things: Catholic, Muslim, pagan, atheists, homosexual, heterosexual, wife beaters, polyamourous, murderers, saints, drunks, flat earthers, lottery addicts, only fans sex workers.

Teachers should not bring their whole self to work.

Teach children facts. Go home and do whatever the rest it is you do - in private. Children should not be able to find your whole self.

There's nothing extreme about this.

RedToothBrush · 18/12/2023 09:27

The delightful Suzie from Labour is apparently trans non-binary gender fluid .

So I think this means they identifies as one sex on the days of the week it helps him get a job in male acting roles and identifies as the other sex on the days of the week he feels like wearing lurid pink skirts and knee high boots in the ladies (when not being subjected to teenage girls bullying) or ticking the diversity box for political jobs.

So they believe they are the opposite sex on certain days of the week but not on others. Hence trans non-binary.

In the past this was being a transvestite and no one believed you were magically changing sex. Now we have the quasi-religious anti-science madness.

FrancescaContini · 18/12/2023 09:05

I think teachers should keep their “identity” out of the classroom in the same way they should keep their sexuality, their politics and any other personal information out of the classroom. Pupils don’t need to know that Miss is bisexual and identifies as whatever and votes Labour in the same way they don’t need to know her address, bank account details or where her kids go to school.

Boundaries. Please.

NotBadConsidering · 18/12/2023 09:04

So that brings us back to what should happen to non-binary teachers?

Teachers should remain secular of all religions, including gender religion, if they’re teaching in a secular school. They should teach facts, science and reason and project those measures to children. A teacher should keep their non-binaryness out of the classroom in the same way a teacher should keep their Christian faith out of the classroom, unless it’s a faith-based school. If teachers who claim to be non-binary can’t handle the fact children can accurately sex people into the two sexes and that doing so is biologically accurate, they shouldn’t be teaching at that school, particularly if the alternative is to force children to pretend something they see, isn’t.

If someone wants to set up a gender religion faith-based school where children can be taught nonsense akin to other religions, then parents can elect to send their children there if they so wish. Then teachers who claim they’re non-binary can get jobs there! There’s a market for it if you’re keen.

DrBlackbird · 18/12/2023 09:00

so what should happen to a teacher who identifies as non-binary?

There’s been an answer to this already and it’s that absolutely nothing ‘should happen’. As long as the teacher’s focus is centred on teaching their subject as well as they can for a range of students, why would or ‘should’ anything happen?

There’s very likely been a wide range of teachers for my DC who’ve had different belief systems and different home lives outside of their professional lives but I didn’t know and therefore didn’t care because they have maturely kept personal and professional separate. That’s how it ‘should’ be.

The trouble with all the pronoun nonsense is that it puts the belief system front and centre and even requires children to participate in it.

You object to non-binary people having influence over kids - irrespective of whether they are doing anything remotely relevant to gender identity - so what should happen to a teacher who identifies as non-binary?

I've already answered this question.

Nothing should "happen to" non binary teachers.

Sensible parents will just have to sigh and carefully walk that tightrope between ensuring that their children treat the teacher with the necessary respect and pay attention to the actual teaching material, whilst keeping a close eye on them to make sure that they aren't being unduly influenced by the damaging ideas the teacher is promoting.

That said, my children are preschool age so I'm very much hoping it will no longer be cool to identify as something you're not by the time they are old enough to be vulnerable to it.

If "non binary" is still a thing when my daughter is 10 though, I will have to explain to her that it is not actually a thing.

MargotBamborough · 18/12/2023 08:55

PlanetJanette · 18/12/2023 08:51

So what’s the solution?

What should non-binary people do to avoid being googled?

Theres a reason none of you want to answer the question of the logical implication of what you’re saying for non-binary people who work in any way with kids. It’s because that implication is too extreme for you to admit but not so extreme that you would disavow it.

I've already answered your question at length.

Is there any reason why you ignored my response? Perhaps my response wasn't extreme enough to fit your narrative?

PlanetJanette · 18/12/2023 08:51

AlisonDonut · 18/12/2023 08:27

It isn't about the content of the show.

It is about thinking through to the end of the sentence. So kids go and see this person. And then they Google him/her/they/them/hands/knees/boompsadaisy
Are they squeeky clean with zero other nonsense or are they likely to then get lost down other rabbit holes that lead to the depths of the internet.

It's like Rubber Suit Fetish Guy at the NSPCC. He probably didn't rubber fetish whilst with kids. But as 'talent manager' he lead pretty damn quickly straight to the Rubber Fetish website that was even on his Linked In Profile, that wasn't even checked by the NSPCC.

People seem to think every QT person is a vulnerable minority when in fact adding themselves to the QT community is major red flag.

I think that the act of identifying as non binary is in itself regressive and damaging and sets a bad example to children.

What adults do is up to them but children are very impressionable (although it sounds like the adult Dr Ronx is also very impressionable tbh).

So that brings us back to what should happen to non-binary teachers?

DrBlackbird · 18/12/2023 08:37

Perhaps @MargotBamborough but it’s possible to be both ie to have experienced past trauma and also be compelled to signal their difference/specialness. I wouldn’t think it was entirely just a cynical ploy.

Completely agree the LGB is not only losing voice, but losing ground. At a recent LGBT+ awareness presentation, 14 of the 16 slides were on the T. Meanwhile, there is growing anti LGB intolerance because of this forced teaming and it’s worrying.

FrancescaContini · 18/12/2023 08:36

DrBlackbird · 18/12/2023 08:21

*for adult women, I’m convinced there’s a link to trauma. For children/teens, it’s absolutely linked to being ND and highly suggestible. This is why the regressive tsunami of T’ness spreading via SM, education, health care, films, arts etc is so damaging.

Yes. Social contagion.

MargotBamborough · 18/12/2023 08:30

@DrBlackbird I wonder what the root cause of it is for Dr Ronx.

The discussion about pronouns in that interview is quite curious. Ronx talks about encountering more and more people using they/them pronouns before deciding to do the same, which suggests a high degree of impressionability.

But it's also a bit suspect that the key moment when Ronx decided to adopt they/them pronouns was during a discussion with their agent, because that's the point at which you're no longer just a bog standard doctor but you're branching out into entertainment and making yourself into a brand, and the timing kind of suggests to me that using they/them pronouns is almost calculated to create some sort of USP/ensure that more diversity boxes are ticked.

It's very clear that stuff which is intended to celebrate "LGBTQ+" people very rarely focuses on the LGB these days. Is it such a stretch to imagine that adopting they/them pronouns might get you more exposure and better opportunities to be the voice of the LGBTQ+ community, compared to just being a boring lesbian?

I can't help but be sceptical.

AlisonDonut · 18/12/2023 08:27
