Or half full depending on your take.

Mulvaney said it was 'amazing' to be recognized by Forbes, adding: 'I think I am becoming a bit of a businesswoman.
'As much as I love the creative side, I love getting smarter: I want to know everything, and how it all works. Of course being in front of the camera, but I love the idea of producing and I think, why not learn it all.'

I'm loving they had a VIP waiting list for when it sold out.

Oh dear. How sad. Never mind.

@RedToothBrush Thanks for the explanation. That all makes sense. I’m trying to think what this might mean, not so much for the Dylans, because I really can’t see that as anything other than a cynical piece of parody, but for the trans boys and girls I know, and know of, with their carefully constructed trans identities but also with a host of comorbidities jostling for space. They have so much invested in this bubble, and so many barriers to successful work and family life, which is what keeps most people going. I think there will be so much suicide and despair, rage turned inwards rather than outwards.
Either way, definitely a shitshow.

I was offered free seat filler tickets the other day to a talk dear Eddie I'm a Laydee Izzard is giving at BFI. Apparently he can no longer fill a central London venue. i wonder why.

Ooooo interesting!

Did you go or did you have something more important to do like pick up the autumn leaves from your garden with a pin?

Fuck him and Jeffrey Marsh. Dangerous men

nobodysdaughter · 07/12/2023 10:14

Oh drew! What are you DOING?
The tik tok bubble has burst for many creators, leaving them completely fenced in peddling the same boring stuff they went viral for.
Mulvaney and their fluffy, vapid message seems dated even in this short, but escalated by social media, time scale.
My DD 12s generation seem tired and jaded from "be kind" and I'm glad. I'm hoping the backlash involves some good old fashion radical feminism, but I'm not holding my breath.

OceanicBoundlessness · 07/12/2023 10:03

He looks ill in the photo. Worryingly thin. I know it's been commented on before but it's really striking now

Well, I'm amazed that he even managed to get it half full.

Fenlandia · 07/12/2023 09:53

I would have more sympathy with the "don't be cruel" position if I hadn't seen pictures of Dylan gazing at a tampon (gross) or advertising women's sports bras (he's skinny af and has no need of them). Dylan might have persuaded Drew Barrymore to get on her knees but ordinary people who aren't in showbiz bubbles don't buy into it.

Oh I will, @DreamTheMoors, I will.

You made statements about OP that you can't know are true or false. And Mulvaney has harmed all women to some extent by behaving in that utterly ridiculous ditzy manner.

When Mulvaney was at peak goading of women a few months back, I read an article discussing the utter befuddlement of show business insiders in California about how Mulvaney had got to be in that position.

They outlined how Mulvaney's talent s recognised in the business as being somewhat sparse, with many other people being much more suited to play this role - and it was made clear that it is a role, an acting role. Mulvaney is represented now by an agent who normally only creams off the top talent.

So something is going on.

DinoDays · 07/12/2023 09:42

I think we are about to enter the really rather unpleasant backlash stage.

I agree and also for LGB. Ridiculous books like Grandad's Pride, which has BDM images, just reinforces an outdated gay stereotype.

But back to Dylan, as a precious poster pointed out, the event was free but they still couldn't get the attendance!!! The TRA's are all for twittering (or Xing, wherever it's called now) and showing up with placards to bully women but actually being interested in it.

Nope!

@RedToothBrush . I think the transdemic might be over too, although, not sadly in the social circles of my adult dcs. I was relieved, but now I’m worried. What kind of backlash do you envisage?

You've got all these activists with no where to go politically. They've got used to being enabled. When the politicians start to go cold on them and they start to say "no" there's likely to be issues because unfortunately these are radicalised extremists.

I think there is going to be a big backlash in Canada. The next election should be interesting. I think laws there will be targeted and reversed. So there will also be a feeling of lost rights (which would be correct, but this will only be equalising women rights back to where they should be before they were removed).

The scary one is the US if Trump gets back in - which I think might well happen looking at the numbers and the momentum there. I think it was the Washington Post that wrote a piece about him being a Caesar like figure who will dismantle democracy. In that scenario all bets are off in terms of how that will go down and how it will impact on a federal level. He will have control of the Supreme Court and put it in Republican hands for at least a generation.

I think we are looking at militancy level stuff in the US in that scenario. We have young males with access to guns who regard this as a matter of life and death and that they are facing a genocide. Some of them are particularly fixated and have clear comorbidities which (due to the cracking US health system and activism refusing to address mental health in trans people as it's transphobic) are somewhat concerning. It's a volatile mix and I don't think it's one thats too beyond the realms of possibility. They will look for people to blame.

You also have incels who again are going to be fuelled by Trump rhetoric and anti LGBT feelings to take this out on all LGBT groups.

Lesbians get the particularly shitty deal being caught between the trans activists and incels.

And just wait until the law suits start to roll in. Which they will. We have already started to cross that bridge.

I think the UK is probably insulated against the worst of it for a variety of reasons. Because we've held the line to a degree. It depends on what Labour do and how much things burn out in other places before Labour do anything. I don't think there is as much willingness to do things as suggested. I think it is liable to get shunted down the agenda with other things taking priority (hopes).

But yeah, I don't think it will be pretty.

Speaking of talks at USA Universities, this one seems to have been very apt for Mulvaney’s actions. I cannot wait to see Holly’s speech on this.

Holly was part of the debate at Princeton about whether it is morally wrong for a man to claim to be a woman. It feels like a significant moment. It wasn’t protested and she wasn’t abused.

I think the tide has turned and I think the future generations will not view Mulvaney with kindness.

Yep - Dylan has built a career out of misogyny and not only that misogyny directed at teenage girls.

He deserves to be mocked. Honestly, I think he's quite happy to be mocked as long as he gets the attention he craves. That's all he cares about, but the fact people (like Biden) are abandoning reason and integrity and taking him seriously is harming women and girls.

The whole transdemic is over according to my DD. Totally uncool now.

There will always be a small minority of men that wear women’s clothes or women that wear men’s clothes and that is fine but a huge number of people signing up to up to this fad is over. No one wants to line the pockets of big pharma.

Oh, I so hope this is true...

TheaBrandt · 07/12/2023 08:57

from the snippets I’ve seen his whole career is ripping the piss out of teenage girls. Why would any woman want to endorse that?

DreamTheMoors · 07/12/2023 03:17

Why are you gloating over someone you don’t know, will never meet and who has absolutely no effect on your life whatsoever?

Whomever it may be, that seems a bit cruel.

I can't speak for the Op but I do it because I think it's funny AF.

Why do you dismiss the impact this male person has on women and girls collectively?

This is a male person who has been presented to the world as a leading and aspirational woman. Fuck! Have you missed all the plaudits and acclaim, and meeting the President? Have you missed how angry young women are with those opportunities meant for female people being given to this person ?

Cruelty covers many aspects of behaviour. Mulvaney is constantly cruel. Mulvaney is mocking women, and being applauded for it. I suggest you are cruel in your dismissal of the impact that this has directly on young women, but also on society.

Well done in scolding people who see the issue though! A great live demonstration on the lack of critical thinking that goes into posts such as yours.

LeggyLegsEleven · 07/12/2023 08:50

He’s a novelty act. He doesn’t actually do anything but dress up as a woman. How much of a career did he think that would give him.

Undermining females and who they are DOES affect people this charlatan hasn’t met. He clearly couldn’t get famous as a bloke (and god knows he tried) and used a pretend female persona to do it.

He’s a gaslighter.
