Video in link. They say it is a bit 'prostitutey' but main concern is she's hot...

It's such an eye opening film @TheClogLady

Slothtoes · 03/12/2023 22:47

Only ‘slightly’?
How awful for any girl child to hear their dads talking in such a casually misogynistic way about how they came into being.

flyingbuttress43 · 03/12/2023 21:06

Well they were spot on with one of their quotes i.e. "we were slightly knobheads".

Anyone who thinks surrogate mothers are the only concern and that egg donors aren’t also exploited and their health put at risk needs to watch Eggsploitation:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jAMrwAGR3GA

Tuition at US university is eye watering LT expensive and young female students are specifically targeted by predatory Fertility Clinics. These very young women have not had children of their own and are not already undergoing egg harvesting for their own reasons, they are told it will be easy money AND they are helping sad, childless, couples.

Some of these young women have lost their own fertility when reckless, exploitative clinics put the number of eggs collected over the health and well being of the donor.

And that’s before you get to the health and social consequences for babies created in this way (which will take decades to truly understand and unsurprisingly the clinics that make millions out of this aren’t keen on studying the negative consequences).

(no doubt I’ll now get a load of predatory YouTube ads from IVF clinics, as usually happens when I post on these topics online!)

Eggsploitation

The infertility industry in the United States has grown to a multi-billion dollar business. What is its main commodity? Human eggs. Young women all over the ...

I should add the clip is taken from a longer interview, they will talk about her. The clip is about the 'commissioning', so the thread is too.

Whoooooosh! Totally over your head.

It's not donor sperm or donor eggs, it's the woman that actually carries them that is the issue - not the ivy league educated supermodel that apparently needs to make extra imcome donating eggs
The one you, and they, have so little concern for they don't even warrant a mention.

I fluffed the title tis all. And I disagree it is all three; donor, surrogate, child. The surrogate, Rebecca, is not mentioned in this instance but they've spoken about her many times before and we have threads on her already.

They’re repulsive. People with attitudes like that, are only going to fuck up any children they parent.

I hate surrogacy and the use of donors anyway but this pair make it even worse if that’s possible.

Well, renting wombs for purchased eggs/baby trafficking is a lot like prostitution/human trafficking, so at least they said the quiet bit out loud.

Good they had fraternal twins, at least the siblings will have each other, which might help ease a little of the pain of not having a mother.

Ahhh. I remember this. This was reprehensible. What a great way to start being loving parents.

An 11 week prem baby is in neonatal ICU. You simply do not move anyone in ICU, unless lives are at stake. A hospital to hospital transfer would have to be done by ambulance, wouldn't it, with a neonatal nurse on board? It could have killed the patients if the ambulance went over a bump in the road!

If it's inconvenient for you to visit someone still in an ICU, tough luck. You move to them. They do not move to you.

This is a new style of “debate” isn’t it? Commented on another thread earlier about how exaggerated, heightened language is now commonly used to describe perfectly normal interactions and discussion in order to pretend that the other person is deeply unpleasant and flawed rather than just…disagreeing. It’s all so tiresome.

It's tiresome, but I feel partly to blame as I did question why they did seem to know such personal detail as to how virtuous Locke et al are..
But yes, I agree, it's a lazy new form of 'debate' quickly throw slurs, soft accusations of 'being mean' to try and shut people up because #unkind..

Helleofabore · 02/12/2023 21:40

NotBadConsidering · 02/12/2023 09:05

No, I don’t think they will either. To do so would admit the circumstances of the birth of the children was wrong, which is mentally tough thing to put on your kids. I don’t think anyone who’s bought a baby will be brave enough to say they were wrong to do so. I can’t think of anyone who has done this.

It’s not guaranteed, but it’s more likely a child will feel the trauma of that circumstance as an adult, because that’s happened.

Yes. I agree

I've not come across you before on this board...but the bilious, vindictive unpleasant style is not for me. So I doubt I'll be responding again. Discussion is one thing - but acrimony for its own sake - no, thanks!

People don't automatically have the capacity or the will to value children's welfare just because they have spent much money to have them.

Surrogacy Concern tweeted the following in July, regarding an unknown set of celebrity commissioning parents.

News has reached us of another celeb couple commissioning babies like they’re pedigree dogs.

This time the babies have been born 11 weeks early. They’re in hospital: the Dads allegedly threatening to sue hospital if they don’t move them.

Human trafficking. In the U.K. In 2023.

Good, sweet, lovely people don't buy humans. Or refer to the process by which their children came into being as 'prostituty'. Or consider 'smoking hot' to be a priority characteristic of babies.

WhereIsBebèsChambre · 02/12/2023 20:41

Thats horrendous @NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision but am not surprised, need to get the kids out there earning!

I hope they make sure she knows that she isn’t merely a series of body parts to be utilised by men.

I hope the nanny or teachers or whomever ends up doing the shitwork of raising both children is able to both model a loving, caring relationship, and communicate that women are not body parts to be bought and sold.

WhereIsBebèsChambre · 02/12/2023 20:10

OK, bit dramatic hyperbole but if that's what you need to do, its not exactly interesting debate.

Why so vitriolic? I happen to like 'Made In Chelsea' it is one of my guilty pleasures, and I've always liked Ollie. His husband Gareth is sweet and lovely. I've been following the development of this story.

I'm not suggesting thats surrogacy is without issues, but like it or not it is increasingly common for people to use donor sperm, and now eggs too.

Why more so because they were specially selected and cost lots of money and give their parents coverage in crappy 'sleb magazines and social media?
Oh yes, so much more...

No, because the fact is that many children are not loved and cherished at all. As countless tragic murders of young children born to natural parents reveal.

I read the post you refer to, as just meaning with so many children who suffer intentional neglect, these babies were very much wanted and will be surrounded by love. I dont think the posters meant because of money or means.

I think they are acknowledging they are hiring a woman for her services, akin to prostitution, which lets be honest, wether you agree with surogacy or not, its true.
