I play in a women's league and in the discussions before setting it up one team requested to play trans players - both male and female. The league organisers said no, which was surprising and very pleasing. Perhaps the FA are starting to filter down that guidance based on what they are planning to issue?

The woman with the broken knee should be the one bringing legal action, against the FA for putting her in that blatantly dangerous position in the first place.

Very curious about what Needham thinks suing will achieve? Women aren’t suddenly going to think it’s safe to play against Needham, so really Needham’s just trying to get the other clubs wound up.

The FA is a disgrace, but having had extensive email comms with England Hockey, they’re certainly not alone. I really don’t understand how any governing bodies think allowing men into women’s sport is in any way acceptable, never mind a good idea

In case someone turns up to lecture us - this isn't 'transphobia', the women footballer players have an entirely rational fear of playing against a male player who has already badly injured someone.

The FA need to get their finger out and follow the science, as other sports have (belatedly) started to do and return women's football to being single sex.

Seems like this is a tactic we see a lot - taking important concepts and stretching them beyond their elastic limit to try to make them useless. Like 'female'.

Why now safeguarding in particular? Why would anyone have an interest in reducing clarity about that idea?

It makes me so angry that a female footballer's career has possibly been ruined but a male person hasn't used this as an opportunity to reflect on the damage he has caused. Instead it was taken as an opportunity to share some utterly fabricated images to boost his fantasy of himself.

We had a bloke come on here, who said he wasn't an extreme activist and who claimed to not to believe TWAW, who nevertheless told us that it would constitute "social ostracism" if female field hockey players refused to play a team with a trans-identifying male player.

I've been told many times that if women aren't willing to play trans-identifying male players, they should quit their sport. But that was the first time I was told that women aren't even allowed to quit.
