'The Quebec Boxing Federation was reportedly aware of Walmsley’s biological sex, but justified the fight by stating they had chosen an appropriate referee for the match. Ultimately, Bissonnette says her decision to withdraw came down to safety.'

'Following Bissonnette’s withdrawal, Walmsley issued a statement to the press accusing her of “outing” him and warning that similar actions would have a negative impact on female athletes.'

CANADA: Female Boxer Withdraws From Competition After Being Matched Against Male Fighter - Reduxx

Interesting that in one of the articles above he actually says "Equality..... requires men to recognise how their masculinity offers them relative advantages, and think of strategies to address that." and then allegedly fails to see that choosing to fight against biological women is a way of giving himself a "relative advantage". You couldn't make this stuff up.

Well, he's 'addressed' it by realising he can win in a fight?

I judge any male, regardless of gender identity, who wants to get in a ring so they can hit a women around the head.

They know their advantages against women but still want to do it.

How else are they going to win.

They can’t win in the male category, so they find another way to win.

Even Caitlyn Jenner, one of the most famous trans women in the world, is against biological men competing with biological women.

There is a certain type of person who thinks it’s ok.
I highly doubt these are people who have genuine gender dysmorphia issues.

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/11/2023 17:03

In my 20s I did mixed sex Taekwondo for a short while. I really enjoyed the exercise, formations etc. What put me off was having to hold the kick pads (or whatever they’re called) whilst the men kicked them bloody hard. I used to be almost falling over every time and this is ultimately what made me give up.

oakleaffy · 15/11/2023 16:59

This biological woman would be at great risk of fighting with an XY person.
Don’t blame her at all.

XY should fight XY

Ffsnotaconference · 15/11/2023 16:58

The audacity of a biological male believing they have the right to fight women, without women being aware they are a biological male.

It’s beyond a fucking joke. The fact that they can’t see how ridiculous the ‘but they outed me’ claim is, says everything we need to know.

A biological male trying to fight and/or compete against women should be outed. No exceptions.

ArcaneWireless · 15/11/2023 16:26

Uncanny.

It’s always anime or porn.

Without fail. It’s vile/sinister when you realise that’s how they see being a woman.

JL690 · 15/11/2023 16:36

Well done Bissonette. Men should not be boxing against women.

pyjamalife · 15/11/2023 16:31

This absolutely pisses me off.

Women will be losing their best years in their sports just to protest against something that should NOT be happening.

Way to fuck up our sex even more than the previous years of misogyny we clawed our way out of.

Fucking bravo.

A side note to recognise the impressive stand made by Bissonnette. Maybe if we shout loud enough, it won't take as long. Good on her, sacrificing her position for her safety. Although it's ridiculous that she was in that position.

Maybe the females need to start their own side contest just for them.

Absolutely.

It's outrageous enough when it's a sport that involves speed, strength or stamina - of the kind that a male-bodied person will naturally have a far greater advantage; but to think that a male person is actually trying to demand that he be allowed to punch and beat up a woman, even though she has (unsurprisingly) made it very clear that she does not consent to this.

This is not the kind of attitude that any man with a semblance of dignity or respect would remotely entertain. Indeed, as stated upthread, you would expect them to refuse to even countenance it for a moment on a basic matter of principle, not stamp his feet and insist on it.

What kind of character must a man have to make him feel good about beating up a woman - and actually seeking a medal for it?

SophiaElise · 15/11/2023 16:27

Well done that woman!

warning that similar actions would have a negative impact on female athletes

So you can either agree to be beaten up physically by a naturally much stronger person with a huge biological advantage; or otherwise you can retreat quietly and give up the sport that you love and have trained for years to become highly proficient at.

What's that the TRA always say about women (i.e. the female ones - I'm not using their favoured 3-letter 'c'-word slur) being much more privileged than they are?

itsfinallytime · 15/11/2023 16:23

I think this is interesting in Canada, although it was Hobson's choice really, why should Bisonnette put herself at risk of serious injury. She is likely to face significant backlash though sadly as Canada has lost it's mind when it comes to women's rights.

toomanykittensnow · 15/11/2023 16:22

A female shouldn't have to fight a male no matter what!! Good on her for withdrawing. Shame on him for being a dick about it

EasternStandard · 15/11/2023 16:21

More women need to do this.

Good to see it

ArcaneWireless · 15/11/2023 16:19

Absolutely 409

I wonder how long they would bleat about ‘trusting’ the relevant bodies to match things fairly in a truly mixed competition.

I suspect if they were matched against anyone other than a woman, they would be withdrawing as well.

It isn’t about competing at all.

PaterPower · 15/11/2023 16:18

reddux have also got an article about a martial arts competition in South America which was dominated in at least two categories by male fighters who’d signed up for female categories.

Note the ‘joking’ use of soft porn images by the male cheats competitors:

*Danielle Lenane, one of the only females involved in the competition, was made to fight Cordelia Gregory and Corissa Griffith, the latter representing Odyssey Jiu-Jitsu. Following the fight, Lenane asked for her record to be wiped clean of any indication she had fought either one of the men.
Smith said that during the October 21 tournament, there were more males participating than women in some of the women’s divisions.

In the Women’s No-Gi fight for the 160-169lbs weight class, only Griffith and Gregory participated and took home medals. On his Instagram, Griffith joked about the match, posting a scene from a Japanese “softcore” pornography series and suggesting the two women depicted represented him and Gregory.*

Every woman (and man) needs to do this.

If trans people want to compete in mixed sexed sports then that’s absolutely fine but female teams should be for biological females only and male teams should be for biological males only.
No ifs, no buts.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/11/2023 16:09

If TW don't want to be 'outed' by women refusing to compete against them, they have the simple and fair option of sticking to competing against other males instead of trying to colonise female sports.

(Though the piece said this particular individual had an overtly male appearance so not sure what was suppose to be 'outing' about the refusal to compete? Outing as a bullying cheat, maybe?

Boredanddejected · 15/11/2023 16:03

Bloody hell. That’s really taking be kind to the limit. Allow yourself to be seriously injured or worse to avoid outing a transwoman.

ArcaneWireless · 15/11/2023 15:58

I should say that it wasn’t a competition or a sport.

If I’d have known what was going to happen before hand? I’d have withdrawn too.

ArcaneWireless · 15/11/2023 15:53

On paper, thirty years ago, I should have been able to prevent my face and body being changed irrevocably.

On paper.

My opponent was a man.

Reality is not the same.
