'The Quebec Boxing Federation was reportedly aware of Walmsley’s biological sex, but justified the fight by stating they had chosen an appropriate referee for the match. Ultimately, Bissonnette says her decision to withdraw came down to safety.'

'Following Bissonnette’s withdrawal, Walmsley issued a statement to the press accusing her of “outing” him and warning that similar actions would have a negative impact on female athletes.'

I am ex forces and boxed for my regiment.

We trained against men because as my trainer said "if you can stay up against a man you can definitely stay up against a women"

The men hated it and went easy on us. It was still hard and we still never ever won and were always hit harder than when sparing with women.

There are different fitness levels required between the sexes because we are built differently.

The different levels included the times on a 1.5 mile run, lifting a weight etc.

"Let me beat you to a pulp, but I only fight people who are smaller and weaker than me and I insist that you must #bekind while I do it."
🤢
The deep-rooted misogyny of the fighting sports just keeps coming out over and over again (especially boxing) as they keep deferring on this issue and not taking a hard line. It really does nothing to challenge the stereotype about male boxers having a bad reputation when it comes to women.

I don't know how many people on here have done martial arts in mixed groups. I have, so has black-belt DH. The list of ways men are advantaged is long and scary. Reach alone; if DH and I extend our arms, he has a good few inches of reach on me, meaning that even if I could punch as hard as him, I couldn't connect.

I've seen the female black belts in his group. They are incredibly impressive, athletic and strong. They could never beat DH. Not on his worst day. And he'd never agree to fight them. Good martial artists are ethical. He was once at a meet where they couldn't find a black belt so he was fighting red belts. There was a long discussion beforehand about moves they wouldn't do, ways to minimise danger, how he would behave. Not pretend to be a red belt and pummel the other bloke.

I've also done martial arts in a mixed group. Even as 11-year-old children, all of us green belts (the third belt you earned in the discipline I was in, usually after 6-9 months of study), the boys were significantly advantaged. Just in the warm-ups, they had more strength and stamina.

And THEN they go through puberty.

Any woman who values her life should NEVER get in a ring with a man. Never.

FairFuming · 15/11/2023 20:30

If someone identifies as trans then thats fine by me but eroding the rights and safety of women and claiming its their right to do so is not acceptable. A Womans safety is more important then somones feelings being hurt because they don't feel accepted.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 15/11/2023 20:27

the best policy for gender self-identification in sport was for athletes to “trust” each other

Cos no man in the history of the world ever has told a woman she can trust him then fucked her over for his own purposes, amirite?

God these trans women have no fucking idea what it is to actually live as a woman. Women lose any default trust in men before they are out of their teens.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 15/11/2023 20:14

Good this is what women need to do to call them out and to have our voices heard and let the men fight men or piss right off.

Do they want to fight women because they are not good enough to fight men or do they just want to fight women.

When did the world get so crazy and when did these men decide to go down this route. Let them get in their own lane. Shocking that this is happening and continues to happen as so many will not speak out.

Voila, c'est l'interview:

'Comments are turned off'.

That's a shame.

FantasticElasticBand · 15/11/2023 20:09

Ahhhhh come on now folks - there was going to be the ‘right’ kind referee there.

#right kind of referee

Exactly.

What more could a girl want?

What is this “trust” bull?

Women should trust the lack of evidence and science?

Women should trust the governing body that hasn’t even looked at the issue in any meaningful way just bent over?

Women should trust that people who could be bullied, fired, arrested for saying the wrong thing are going to speak up at any point?

Women should trust a person who is lying to their face, erasing history and falsifying documents?

Fucking cheek.

MsRosley · 15/11/2023 19:47

Kudos to this woman. Absolute shame on the people who think a woman should allow herself to be beaten up in service to a male ego.

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 15/11/2023 19:36

Why should she fight him

Surely it's entirely her prerogative as to whether or not she accepts any fight. If it was against another female of a similar size/weight and age, her refusal would just make her look like she lacked confidence in her abilities; but anybody who would judge her for that in turning down a fight with this person must have extremely limited cognitive skills.

If you would never dream of having two men like David Haye and Amir Khan fighting each other, why would anybody seriously think that any mixed-sex bout would be remotely fair or safe?

UnremarkableBeasts · 15/11/2023 19:26

Maybe we should all be able to trust that biological men will recognise how utterly inappropriate it is for them to enter female competitions.

But apparently not. Or is that not the kind of trust Walmsley thinks matters?

ZiriForGood · 15/11/2023 19:26

Good for her.

It is disgusting that someone would even consider letting them to fight each other without an official disclosure of the trans status.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 15/11/2023 19:23

accusing her of “outing” him and warning that similar actions would have a negative impact on female athletes

Is this the old bollocks that butch women might be accused of being men?

went on to assert that the best policy for gender self-identification in sport was for athletes to “trust” each other, and defer to coaches and policies in assumption that matches were made fairly

Trust a male who cheats and lies in order to hit women?

Always anime porn isn't it...

Thank fuck for the person who sent that text.

ArthurbellaScott · 15/11/2023 14:51

This is a political activist, keen on 'revolution' and anarchy, looking to fight women without warning them beforehand that he is male.

This is dangerous.

Yep. The world has plenty of men that enjoy hitting women. Giving them prizes for it is a whole new level of horror though.

EasternStandard · 15/11/2023 19:12

Why should she fight him

It’s beyond normal comprehension as pp says. A good phrase

Just looking at the image of him makes me feel how ridiculous, unsafe and unfair this is

SirChenjins · 15/11/2023 19:09

Good on her for taking a stand - she and all the other women who are refusing to bow down are incredibly brave. The fact that they are having to challenge these ridiculous decisions and the men who are invading every space that women have fought hard for is beyond normal comprehension.

JamSandle · 15/11/2023 19:00

It's nice to see women standing up and being counted and now bowing down to these bullies.

oakleaffy · 15/11/2023 18:53

My 13 yr old son once physically lifted me up like I was nothing.
The strength in XY's is very different compared to women.

A boxing match with an XY's longer reach, more powerful muscles that were formed during puberty would give a massive advantage in punch strength.

gentlemum · 15/11/2023 18:45

It baffles me that ANYONE could think this is ok or safe or acceptable. I genuinely cannot see what argument could make this ok.

1982mommaof4 · 15/11/2023 18:16

Good for her, I think it's absolutely disgusting that women are out in these dangerous situations. If this continues it will completely ruin womens sport

nepeta · 15/11/2023 18:14

IdleAnimations · 15/11/2023 16:51

It’s always anime or porn.

Without fail. It’s vile/sinister when you realise that’s how they see being a woman.

Actually, it is surprisingly often both anime combined with porn, based on what I have seen online.

A research project which needs to happen is to see how consuming lots of that combination affects young people's mental states and their views of what womanhood means. (I have seen someone state an anime girl as this person's transition goal looks.)

ErrolTheDragon · 15/11/2023 18:08

Even Caitlyn Jenner, one of the most famous trans women in the world, is against biological men competing with biological women.

That may be because Jenner was a genuinely world-class athlete who beat men in the decathlon - an event women can't even compete in at the Olympics! Jenner isn't a loser who needs to compete against women to win.
