'The Quebec Boxing Federation was reportedly aware of Walmsley’s biological sex, but justified the fight by stating they had chosen an appropriate referee for the match. Ultimately, Bissonnette says her decision to withdraw came down to safety.'

'Following Bissonnette’s withdrawal, Walmsley issued a statement to the press accusing her of “outing” him and warning that similar actions would have a negative impact on female athletes.'

And now a footballer has withdrawn and threatened to sue for discrimination because other teams are refusing to play against the team with a trans woman in it - becuase of the safety issues. Multiple women have already been hurt.

yeah I know, it’s pretty hard to notice it. Btw I thought “mums” would have more love and understating, but I notice more hatred.

I hate liars, bullies and cheats and trans identifying males who want to participate in women's sports are all of those things. Every time one of them gets to have a go with women, they seemingly smash all the records, even if they were the 500th best man.

There are several cases of trans MMA fighters seriously injuring women, which is almost unheard of in woman-woman contests. They report that they've never been hit, or gripped as hard by another woman.

Fox broke Tamikka Brents' eye socket.

During Fox's fight against Tamikka Brents on September 13, 2014, Brents suffered a concussion, an orbital bone fracture, and seven staples to the head in the 1st round. After her loss, Brents took to social media to convey her thoughts on the experience of fighting Fox: "I've fought a lot of women and have never felt the strength that I felt in a fight as I did that night. I can't answer whether it's because she was born a man or not because I'm not a doctor. I can only say, I've never felt so overpowered ever in my life and I am an abnormally strong female in my own right," she stated. "Her grip was different, I could usually move around in the clinch against other females but couldn't move at all in Fox's clinch

I feel so sad that a woman had to withdraw but for her safety it was the only course of action. Also it's hopefully shone a light on the issue.

The only thing more ridiculous than her opponent's statement was the but about a "suitable" referee 🤨. On what planet does that even out a man fighting a woman!?

This post reeks of extreme transphobia

In this sense all you mean by 'transphobia' is 'heresy'.

You are free to practice the faith of your choice. No one else is compelled to go along with it, or believe your assertion that they're going to hell/evil/infidel/yada yada.

No. Denying someone’s identity is clear. When someone identifies as she and you call her “he” is transphobia. Can’t be clearer.

WORIADS babe! Means we can state the blindingly obvious by law as in a man with lady feels is indeed still a man.

this post reeks of extreme transphobia. What a beautiful place mumnet is!

Mumsnet is indeed a beautiful place.

Then invariably someone turns up on a thread and spouts complete and utter uniformed rubbish.

Don't you just hate it when that happens

Calling a woman “him”. Is it so hard for you to get it? Is it?

No one on this thread has called a woman "him".

True

Do yours. You're citing an out of date paper.

That’s not even about the performance differences between the sexes.

Restinggoddess · 20/11/2023 18:30

So proud of our sports women who are taking a stance against this trans nonesense

Sports bodies need to get with the times and recognise changes need to be made to safeguard women’s sports

ArcaneWireless · 20/11/2023 18:29

A born female transgender person will have known all their lives that males are stronger. From primary onwards. So I expect there wouldn’t be a rush to step into a ring.

They don’t seem to forsake reality to the same extent and so if they then choose to fight a man, they will have considered it long and hard. They will know of the disadvantages and will weigh up the risk.

What they don’t do - as is evidenced here - is to put themselves forward to fight someone knowing that they have an inborn physical advantage and give their opponent no warning of that fact or an opportunity for their opponent to consider the risk.

Some should ask themselves why only someone born a man feels that this is an acceptable thing to do.

And should then ask themselves why they are so hung up on ‘hims’ and ‘males’ rather than the fact that someone born a male is so very, very outraged that someone pre-warned a woman and gave her a chance to weigh up that risk.

Babes 😳

busstopbingo · 20/11/2023 18:06

And I say that as a woman in martial arts. I fight men (non competitively) who are shorter and lighter than me who can still beat me in a match of physical strength. I've sparred teenage boys who are stronger than me. It's not safe in a competitive fight

busstopbingo · 20/11/2023 18:04

There's a trans woman fighter in Thailand who fights men. That's what is safe and fair for everyone involved. Biological differences can't be understated enough in fight sports
