TransLucent CIC. He is listed as a Company Director on the website.

Obviously pro inclusivity to the far end of the scale. Knows Steph through this and asked a favour as she knows Steph is CEO of another charity.

What charity is Steph already a CEO of?

TransLucent, I think it's called.

She’s ill, she’s a single Mum, she’s a student. Fair enough, she needs help. But she and the trustees have a responsibility to appoint someone who is going to advocate for the women seeking the service, put their needs first and make sure that charitable donations received are spent responsibly on the core aims of the charity.

I wondered if the whole charity was a PhD project. It would go a long way to explain why they're more focussed on the trans issue than the women who suffer from these horrible conditions.

The more I hear about the charity, the more likely that sounds.

Were they that clueless that they thought their X post announcing Steph's appointment was going to just come and go without anyone noticing?

Something, something intersectional. Something, something inclusive.

Listened to the interview, well done Emma!

Jodie comes across as vulnerable and suffering from mental health on top of the physical issues…

There is a direct conflict of interest with Steph as already CEO of a trans charity and a trans activist.

Which means that even when asked about the millions of women suffering, Steph’s number one priority was the few thousand trans men, non binary and men with the condition. Not women.

Ergo Steph is not able to carry out the role.

As for Jodie’s proclamations about endometriosis not being a gynaecological disorder. There is recent research on it being inflammatory and systemic and the aetiology is not defined. But it isn’t up to Jodie to redefine the whole condition, based on a handful of papers, without consensus from the medical community. She appears to have done this both on WH and on the charity website.

Wow! That's some serious medical breakthrough that Jodie's achieved!

I hope she's already spoken to the Nobel org about winning the prize for medicine this year.

£8k gross income is buttons.

haven’t read all messages on here but I agree with @CheeseChamp . It’s a tiny local charity, run on a shoestring, and headed up by a 71 year old transwoman who said in the interview something like she just wanted to “do good in the world”, something like that.

You do get women heading up eg testicular cancer charities. There are no obvious safeguarding risks. I believe Steph has a GRC and has possibly surgically transitioned.

I think on this one the TERFS risk coming across as a bit harsh, and disproportionate too.

It's not Steph being male that's the problem it's him being a raging misogynist.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 15/11/2023 14:25

@LittleGlowingOblong got it! ⬆️

ArthurbellaScott · 15/11/2023 14:22

Steady on, Steph. Why would you want to punch Mumsnet? I thought you loved women and feminists.

SabrinaThwaite · 15/11/2023 14:21

I’d like to be a fly on the wall when Steph introduces Nancy Keeley [sic] at Steph’s own shindig tomorrow.

There's something...i dunno...important about Steph that makes him unsuitable for such a role.

It's on the tip of my tongue...

Does it begin with 'M'?

Waitwhat23 · 15/11/2023 14:17

I suspect many women's main issue with this man's appointment are his previous deeply unpleasant behaviour towards women who disagree with him. The protests outside the Filia conference at Portsmouth (which he helped organise) being a prime example - unherd.com/thepost/the-misogyny-of-trans-activists/

I'm not sure how this could be seen as 'doing good in the world', apart from to women hating misogynists.

Mollyollydolly · 15/11/2023 14:12

Great thread from Helen Joyce well worth a read. Emma was great this morning but we should remember the context. And why was there no woman with the opposing view represented? Why do we feel so grateful? We've been ignored for bloody years or treated with disrespect.

CriticalCondition · 15/11/2023 14:07

Is this a man with empathy for women? One who is going to 'strut their stuff' in women's changing rooms, their toilets, their sports teams? One who says nothing is going to stop them and wants to see terfs go to hell?

Just when you think the debacle couldn't insult women any further, here comes Ben.

Yup. Just at the point where I think the Labour tanker is slowly turning, here comes Ben to remind us what a bunch of misogynists they are.

Not to mention Zoe Williams of the Guardian, doing her best to win handmaiden of the year award.

RedToothBrush · 15/11/2023 14:04

LittleGlowingOblong · 15/11/2023 13:59

@Theeyeballsinthesky I did, yes!

If they’re a misogynist, they masked it very well in the interview.

I hope that's irony you are using there.

Given that I mentioned a female CEO of a testicular cancer charity, I don’t actually know what you mean.

I mean, it sounds like there was no recruitment process as such, but it might sail close to the Equality Act to refuse the appointment on gender identity grounds. Especially as there are (a vanishingly small number of) cis men who suffer from endometriosis.

All of this has been covered in the thread.

The acronym to describe him is verboten on here (the truth hurts!), so I won't use it.

WarriorN · 15/11/2023 14:00

So no safer recruitment systems used. In schools that's an online and social media Google

Theeyeballsinthesky · 15/11/2023 14:00

steph thinks womanhood is a set of stereotypes & a costume they can assume

of course they’re a misogynist

Theeyeballsinthesky · 15/11/2023 13:59

Steph said on woman’s hour they were offered the post over a coffee - there was no recruitment process because given the very low income of the charity, it’s unlikely Steph is being paid
