Steph can't even get adenomyosis right.

Steph seems to think Steph is CEO of an organisation advocating for sufferers of adenoyosis.

TrainedByCats · 13/11/2023 11:57

I saw the tweet this morning and had an immediate involuntary physical reaction to the picture beside the words before I’d even quite clocked them. Not uncanny valley exactly because picture wasn’t computer generated but similar

TrainedByCats · 13/11/2023 11:55

I think we’ll probably find this is text book targeting and take over a small organisation by TRA’s and redirect it to validate TW

we should look at recent trustee appointments

I never post on these discussions because I’d be afraid to be on the wrong side of the debate. However, I wanted to ask something. What if Steph just really empathises with women with endo despite not having it? Then Steph would be a fine choice, right?

I don’t have children but I’m very passionate about parental rights in the workplace. I can be good on that front without having children so why can’t Steph do this? Genuine question, I’d just be interested to know people’s thoughts.

Edited

Because now Steph has been appointed, we can pretty much guarantee that the word woman will be removed across this whole website, if it hasn't been done already. Remember, cancelling of women usually starts from the top.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/11/2023 11:20

1 in 10 people is not the same as 1 in 10 women of reproductive age

This is a common blunder genderists make, and makes their stats completely misleading, and unclear. Is this 1 in 10 women (so "people" has just been inserted wherever "women" appears) or is it 1 in 10 of the general population, so approximately 1 in 5 women? Don't quote me on the maths there, it's not my forte Grin just highlighting the potential for confusion.

Quite.

It doesn't exactly fill you with confidence, does it? From that sentence alone I know that this organisation:

  • Prioritises male wishes over their core remit which is only relevant to women
  • Doesn't understand figures/ statistics
  • Has no concept of fact checking or attention to detail
Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/11/2023 10:55

Does Steph think Steph is going to hell then? Interesting.

ChishiyaBat · 13/11/2023 10:50

I've posted this on one of the other threads, but i'll post it again, nasty little individual!

Sorry if I've missed it but does anyone know Steph's background? Other than being a man? Does he have a track record in women's health or in the charity sector? Just wondering what qualified him for the role.

I believe he owns a business selling baby equipment (car seats, prams etc).

Steph seems to have missed out any non-binary identifying women, or those with other gender identities that aren't woman/transman (of which I think there are possibly infinite varieties) on that tweet. tsk tsk. I expect that Steph will now cancel Steph-self as a result of this omission.

pickledandpuzzled · 13/11/2023 10:14

The problem with people like Steph being advocates for women is the implication that there was no woman with an equal skill set along with her sex based advantage.

Also, people like Steph tend to very visibly demonstrate lack of empathy for women. Again, implicit in their personal presentation and behaviour is a disrespect for sex based experiences and women’s sex based vulnerabilities.

An organisation that puts out that incorrect '1 in 10 people' statistic is actively spreading misleading information about the condition they are supposed to help with. I'm sure the new CEO will sort that out...

Looks like Steph's already on that point to be fair.

Just so tired of all this male bullshit.

Fenlandia · 13/11/2023 09:56

Is this the same person who claimed to have evidence of a biological, testable basis for being born in the wrong body, and was going to release the "evidence" before getting a backlash from trans people? Sorry if I've got my TRAs mixed up.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 13/11/2023 09:48

@AlisonDonut I don't know anything about him, apart from.the fact that he's a man who thinks TWAW. I was responding to.those people who said a man can't represent/advocate for women's health, which I don't agree with.

I like what @FlirtsWithRhinos says.

Justme56 · 13/11/2023 09:41

Jodie is hook line and sinker a believer that gender is far more important than a person’s sex so it does not surprise me that she approached Steph for the role.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 13/11/2023 09:37

I have no objection to a man being the CEO of a charity supporting a female need if he is committed, effective and ensures it's women's understanding of their needs that sets his agenda not his own assumptions.

If that man happened to wear male-cut dresses and makeup not because he associates them with womanhood but just because he likes them and thinks men should be able to wear them as well as women, that is also totally fine.

But I do not believe a man, or indeed anyone, who displays disordered thinking about womanhood, women or women's lives is an appropriate choice.

A man who believes womanhood is a personality trait and thereby blinds himself to the huge impact being born female has on our lives is displaying hugely disordered thinking about womanhood, women and women's lives and for that reason alone should not be CEO of any charity supporting a female need, let alone one tied so closely to female biology.

Froodwithatowel · 13/11/2023 09:32

There's that phrase isn't there, about a lovely warm bath of someone else's oppression.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 13/11/2023 09:31

He is using women’s pain to validate his pathetic identity

Froodwithatowel · 13/11/2023 09:29

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/11/2023 09:25

Just asking, did you pretend to be blind for this charity work?

I imagine she didn't turn up outside events for blind people with a set of people with abusive placards to protest them, either.

Or insist that blind people recognise that someone with self identified blindness is just as 'valid' as someone who is actually blind, and that those actually blind people recognise them as more oppressed and important to centre, due to people not fully appreciating the vulnerability of someone who self identifies as blind.

PermanentTemporary · 13/11/2023 09:24

Given Steph has made a brilliant start by making 2 relevant typos in their first post, this seems to be an appointment made mostly for Instagram. If they are one of the vanishingly rare males who have endo it's odd it hast been mentioned before.

Shows the danger of assuming that any old thing is a meaningful organisation to talk to. Two friends who go to the gym together deciding to make up a charity or community interest company or whatever it is shouldn't have any special voice in local healthcare etc.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/11/2023 09:22

He hates Mumsnet too, unsurprisingly. All those women talking. Tsk tsk.

The desire to put one's fist through a screen just because some disobedient women aren't convinced by you is such lady behaviour.
