A Tory Party chairman exposed an alleged cover-up of serial 'rapes' committed by an MP by reporting his Government colleagues to detectives, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Jake Berry sent a bombshell letter to police in which he revealed that a number of allegations about the MP had been made known to the party – but only limited action had been taken.

Mr Berry uncovered the scandal when he discovered the party had paid for one of the alleged victims to receive treatment at a private hospital.

Neither the alleged perpetrator nor the women said to be involved can be identified for legal reasons and the MP is referred to here as X.

Devastatingly, Mr Berry, who wrote the letter jointly with former Chief Whip Wendy Morton, another MP and a Downing Street official, claimed that the failure of the Tory Party to act had allowed the MP to continue offending after the alarm had been raised.

I dont know which is worse, the fact that it happened, or the fact that it was covered up.

It's worrying when it's a case of 'another Tory sex offender' not just 'a Tory sex offender'.

It’s tricky though- if the women don’t want to report, can other people?

I would hope they have clear guidance about what to do if such allegations are made- as in a thought through, legal and effective response.

What if there is no solution without going against the complainants wishes?

It’s an appalling situation and if anyone under reacted they need firing. I’m not sure what the correct reaction is, though.

Its strange that more isn't being made of this by the media, not just the Tory cover up, but that apparently the police were sent information but did not act on it.

Fair play to Wendy Morton and Jake Berry. It seems like the Tory Party is rotting from the inside out. The police haven't covered themselves in glory of late either. Perhaps they can now redeem themselves.
