The bit about the non binary teacher who wears white clothes when she has her period and doesn't wear sanitary protection is particularly disturbing - which particular school is this I wonder, it's in Brighton.

Ha, ha, no. Secondary school kids are savage, any teacher that tried that would get eaten alive.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/10/2023 17:30

I'm out of touch with what happens in schools these days, but don't some schools use isolation as a form of punishment? I'm sure I've seen threads from angry parents whose kids have been put there for not having the right uniform, or similar. Could that be what's meant here, rather than literally being locked in a cell?

JanglyBeads · 28/10/2023 17:19

From the link in theOP

She said: “We’ve had Year 7s who are innocently going ‘Yes miss, I’ll do that’. Bang, they are in what’s called a non detention … like lockdown, something like that where they lock them up after school. Two years in a row the Year 7s have been given this punishment for misgendering this teacher in their first three days at school.”

Er teachers never "lock up" children. I smell a 🐀

TheDogthatDug · 28/10/2023 17:16

I don't believe it about the non sanpro using teacher.

noblegiraffe · 28/10/2023 17:13

Yes, this was part of a user’s live tweet of the event https://x.com/sarahvaci/status/1717838503436820700?s=46&t=vKGM6xpoeW3wdlaVVVagQA

How has this become a teacher deliberately visibly bleeding on period days to discuss being non-binary with her classes?

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 28/10/2023 17:10

There are some conflicting reports from the conference.

One twitter user reports that a speaker described a pupil who doesn't use sanitary protection.

Does it sound more plausible that it's a pupil who is trying to make people aware that she doesn't identify as a girl, and yet still has periods?

borntobequiet · 28/10/2023 16:35

This sort of “free bleeding” nonsense has been around for ages. It was pushed by idiotic hippies in the 1970s (I was an idiotic hippy at the time, but even I thought it was bonkers).

noblegiraffe · 28/10/2023 15:27

I'd set my fake story about a trans teacher in Brighton too....

Yeah, but that's what I mean!

The reason you'd set it in Brighton, is precisely because it sounds more plausible.

That's where we're at.

I've personally challenged totally unsuitable PSHE resources. I'm not claiming that doesn't happen.

But even if you are thinking about ideological capture, what part of any ideology means that women can just bleed everywhere at work and not be challenged on it, on health and safety grounds even before we get to kids being present?

I disagree that this ideology has any boundaries.

I agree with you that it should, of course.

I could see a daft, woke, weird woman faking blood to spark a conversation about menstruation re someone who doesn't think they are female.

This ideology is all about the body parts and biology standing alone without any sex attached to them.

I hope you're right. The Daily Mail is repeating it, now. So hopefully, some verification is going to be called for.

Datun · 28/10/2023 15:20

...oh, apparently it is Brighton. I missed that.

Well, I cant remember how far anus dildo dice got. But it went through enough layers of approval to make you wonder who the fuck was approving it.

Likewise, kids crawling all over men in drag in public libraries.

But, I agree with you, it depends how deep the capture goes. It could be Brighton where it's plummeted.

Thelnebriati · 28/10/2023 15:10

I used to think that a kid couldn't starve to death in front of teachers in the UK.

noblegiraffe · 28/10/2023 15:08

What I don't agree with is that it couldn't happen.

Repeatedly, in a UK school, and the first time anyone hears about it publicly is at this conference?

I'm pretty confident that massive tits guy couldn't happen in England. Fuck knows what's going on in Canada.

Thelnebriati · 28/10/2023 14:59

I'll wait and see on the free bleeding - in the past, users of 4chan trolled the internet with a free bleeding campaign. And I've seen an increase in Reddit-style trolls calling themselves gender critical feminists on Twitter.

Free Bleeding

Free Bleeding refers to the practice of abstaining from using feminine hygiene products during menstruation. In February 2014, free bleeding was promoted by members of 4chan as a prank to convince women that feminine hygiene products were a form of pat...

What would a teacher expect by calling children bigots, or whatever it was, for disagreeing that another pupil was a cat!

I think deliberately and repeatedly bleeding all over your clothes during your period so that your classes can see it and talk about it with you is a step up from an assumed private conversation?

Dealing badly with the cat conversation is something I can imagine happening, particularly given the lack of guidance.

I think deliberately and repeatedly bleeding all over your clothes during your period so that your classes can see it and talk about it with you is a step up from an assumed private conversation?

i'm not sure the other conversation was private. There were at least two girls, and I had the impression it was being had in a classroom.

I completely agree that deliberately bleeding on your clothes is wrong on all levels, and she should be fired immediately.

What I don't agree with is that it couldn't happen. Maybe in some more deliberately structured way? I can totally believe that the reporting is deliberately dramatic.

I think what I'm getting at, giraffe, isn't so much whether it's true or not, but the fact that something that is utterly ludicrous and difficult to swallow, today, could easily be far more commonplace tomorrow, given the direction of travel of some of these schools.

We had children being taught with fake 'chance' dice how to insert things into their anuses. We've had Mr Giant Breasts in Canada. We've had a questionnaire on another thread trying to determine identity by asking things like how often they cry and whether they are rational.

I hope it's not true. But to say it couldn't be, in my opinion, minimise is the problem.

Rudderneck · 28/10/2023 14:53

I think this is a "not sure" for me, for all the reasons previously mentioned.

There has been this "free bleeding" thing around for the last few years with some people seeming to believe that it's some kind of liberation. I think maybe it was the Guardian that had an article about a marathon runner who decided that it was the best way to compete, including photos.

It's difficult to picture it actually happening in a school, although I can imagine some idiot somewhat faking it, maybe only going without sanitary products on a light flow day, say.

noblegiraffe · 28/10/2023 14:52

but what sort of ‘evidence’ can there be? The pupils won’t be allowed to whip out their phones and take a picture, will they?

You think if a teacher were repeatedly proudly walking around school in bloodstained trousers that no teen would have surreptitiously taken a pic?

Or mentioned it to their parents?

Or posted about it on social media?

You don't think that any other teacher at the school might have reported it as a safeguarding issue?

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 28/10/2023 14:46

‘I'll be waiting for a bit more evidence for this one than 'I heard it from someone' or 'I read it in the Telegraph'.’

but what sort of ‘evidence’ can there be? The pupils won’t be allowed to whip out their phones and take a picture, will they? I seem to remember several teachers on this board claiming vociferously that the cat girl story was made up, or the tape was misinterpreted , until it emerged that…..it wasn’t.

as for the Health and Safety aspect, is it so very unusual for the scared caste to be immune from regulation?

noblegiraffe · 28/10/2023 14:44

And with the cat conversation, it was reported almost immediately on twitter by their parents and went internationally viral.

This, however, has not?

JanglyBeads · 28/10/2023 14:43

But in the cat case, we have no evidence of exactly what happened either.

@noblegiraffe, either someone gullible on the Telegraph staff or someone pushing a particular agenda??

noblegiraffe · 28/10/2023 14:42

Generally the really weird ones are blokes with fetishes, not woman.

I'm assuming that was why Datun was trying to suggest it could be a man, even though they don't bleed and it would have definitely been reported as a man if it were a) a real thing and b) a man doing it.

So what would a woman, in normal employment by a school, be expecting to get out of this other than a P45 and to be hauled in front of a teacher misconduct panel?

What would a teacher expect by calling children bigots, or whatever it was, for disagreeing that another pupil was a cat!

And if I remember correctly, there were people more outraged that the children had had the nerve to tape it.

I have no way of knowing if period teacher is authentic or not.

All I'm saying is it's easy to believe. Especially if it was faked, in order to provoke a conversation.

pineapplepinecones · 28/10/2023 14:32

Might be varndean - apparently their MTF comp science teacher had to leave recently as a pupil found someone of their homemade porn on the school computers.

and another teacher smacked a kid’s bum on a school trip.
