I loathe Blunt and will happily see his downfall if he is guilty, but it has to be said that gay MPs have been the victims of attempted extortion in the past - and not just in the era when being gay was taboo.

I hate him, but I do think we have to remember that he may be innocent of this (though he is undoubtedly guilty of being a creepy misogynist).

He's a long term misogynist, wanting men to identify into women's safe spaces is consistent with his record on women. He isn't too fond of some minorities either.

I think he was planning to stand down at the next election but not sure if the was related to the undeclared payments from lobbyists.

But now, it appears, he's also possibly an actual rapist.

Although, literally nothing surprises me about the Tory party these days.

Though OJ thinks Crispin is better than the Labour Party Leadership too.

He is gay so likely a male complainant. He was standing down at election. Justice will take its course. Possibly another by-election though he will likely hang on until a GE for the salary, given he can't be sacked, or made to do anything, and has been ordered to stay away from parliament for now. And unlikely to progress to Trial any time soon!

What have we come to though when a Tory MP accused of rape is the most unsurprising news of the day ☹️

Dd and I had the same reaction! From the first notice that an unnamed Tory MP' we were both convinced it would be him. Then the confirmation came and we found ourselves celebrating! Not of course for what he's (allegedly) done, but that he is being publicly called to account.

He is an utterly odious man.
