Green Party Women under attack

Can anyone help explain what's happening with Green Party Women and the Green Women's Declaration? I've looked for a thread on here but can't find anything. Apologies if I've managed to miss it.

I'm a long-standing member of the Green Party, though not v active. There have been a lot of emails arriving in the last couple of days from people on both sides and it sounds as though things are blowing up.

I haven't been able to keep up-to-date with what's happening but get the gist of it - attempted (illegal?) booting out and silencing of GC people, that doesn't appear to have worked and has backfired fairly spectacularly.

I'd really like to understand the background and what ordinary members can do to support the GC women in the current situation.

There's a Zoom mtg for members tomorrow but bang in the middle of kids bedtime so I can't make it unfortunately :(

Can anyone throw any light on this and maybe point in the right direction for more info? Many thanks!

I think you are confusing Green Party Women with the Green Party Women's Declaration which is about women's sex based rights.

I think that you are being led a run around by someone who delights in disrupting threads with whataboutery.

By "women" you mean anti-LGBT.

It's a common tactic of GCAs, "women" is used when it would be more accurate to say either anti-trans or anti-LGBT. Almost as if homophobia and/or transphobia are being disguised as "women's rights" in the hope people who don't know what it's about will automatically support them because of the word woman.

We see you.

Seems like "anti trans" and "transphobia" are disguised terms for extreme trans ideology and trying to silence and demonise opponents.

In the hope that people will automatically support the trans activist side because they don't understand the manipulation going on.

I have seen your side's violence, threats, censorship, empty slogans, and general inability to rationally defend their position.

I see you MF!

I wrote an essay and still didn't cover the questions in the OP.

How can women support the GC Green Party Women who are under attack and are fighting back?

Don't give up and leave the Party - GCs need your support.

When something negative happens, send an email to show support. Could just send to the Secretary or send to the Co-chair and copy the secretary.

Members worried about confidentiality or being known as GC, can use the Secretary's personal email. It's in a post by the Secretary which is currently pinned at the top in the GPW Space in Green Spaces.

Sign up for Green Feminist emails. They always give good advice eg who to vote for in internal elections.

Their official stance is anti-LGBT rights

No it's not, it really is not at all.

cariadlet · 26/10/2023 01:25

I'm a member of the Green Party and of Green Party Women so have been getting all of the emails and have a good idea of what's been happening.

At the last election, the membership of Green Party Women elected a majority GC committee. The women who make up the majority of the committee stoid on a platform of defending women's sex based rights.

Because if this, they have been under constant attack from the TRA's in the Green Party. They have also been undermined by the 3 TRA members of the committee, particularly Chesca Walton, the co-chair.

The GC women are not homophobic or anti LGB (one of them happens to be a lesbian).
They support the right of gay men and lesbians to be same sex attracted.

They don't believe that lesbians should have to do girl dick. They recognise the conflict between women's rights and trans demands.

Things reached such a point that GC co-chair Zoe Hatch, with the support of the GC majority on the committee, emailed members to explain some of what has happened.

For this, she was put on a no fault suspension.

Meanwhile, no action was taken against Chesca, the TRA co-chair whose shocking behaviour had been revealed. This is despite a viral video, bringing the Green Party into disrepute, in which Chesca attempted to defend the criminal dsmage she had perpetrated by attacking women's banner outside Conference.

Chesca then asked the Green Party IT team to make some changes to the email structure. The IT team thought it was a legit request.

This led to the creation of new co-chair, membership secretary and treasurer email accounts.

Chesca didn't request an account for the GC Secretary, despite the secretary dealing with a lot of the correspondence. All existing emails in the old GPW email account were moved to the co-chair account which only TRA Chesca has access to.

In between monthly committee meetings, committee members used Slack to communicate and make decisions. Chesca kicked out the GC members.

The GC majority had enough of her behaviour. They called for a vote of no confidence in Chesca which passed. Then they called foelections to get a fresh mandate from the membership.

Phew! Think that's the main points covered.

And no, I don't wish any group to be "destroyed" as you put it.

Yes you did, you said you had told the Green Party, in all your grand importance, that you wouldn't vote for them while GPW existed.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/10/2023 01:19

You’re not allowed to talk about Women’s rights - off to the gulag!

Heaven forbid that you should discuss matters pertaining to female people only at a women's group Shock

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/10/2023 01:17

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/10/2023 01:15

Their official stance is anti-LGBT rights and also seems to be their top priority, which would suggest it is basically just another "LGB Alliance" or gender critical group posing as a woman group.

That's not the case, as I have said several times now there are both GC and non GC members in the group. You are simply poorly informed and wrong.

Stephannee · 26/10/2023 01:00

And no, I don't wish any group to be "destroyed" as you put it. I just think names of groups/charities shouldn't be misleading anyone as to what their main purpose is about.

Stephannee · 26/10/2023 00:59

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/10/2023 00:56

No, I mean women. And I believe it includes all "gender variant" people or something. As I said, not all the members are GC.

Gender critical groups really should IMO have the words gender critical in their name so everyone knows what they are about.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/10/2023 00:57

And we sure see you.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/10/2023 00:57

Perhaps you were overhasty in wanting it destroyed?

From what I can deduce Green Party Women is just the women's group for the Green Party, no?

which should be run by men who say they’re women.

It was at one point.

Yes, but that should be the Green Party Non-men, which should be run by men who say they’re women. It’s simple really Eresh, keep up!

HiddenLegoOuch · 26/10/2023 00:39

@Ereshkigalangcleg - I read it the same as you!
Plus, the attitude that comment conveys seems consistent with other gems the poster unveils.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/10/2023 00:38

It seems there are both GC and non GC members, according to the threads and articles linked.

You told the Green Party that as long as they had a women's group you wouldn't vote for them? That's nice.

Don’t you recognise “inclusivity”when you see it Eresh? Tut, you need some more brainwashing.
