There’s clearly someone in that police force who is —still— monitoring Ms Farrow’s social media, and thinking that they —he— can decide on the legality (or otherwise) of her communications.

It’s starting to turn me into a free speech absolutist. Ms Farrow’s experience demonstrates how close we are to a police state.

DI Gritty Tunnocks was the lone voice of reason in the Sorry Police Force, hounded out of her job and threatened outside of work by mysterious agents. That is truly disturbing. There really is something rotten going on there.

Sorry Police need to be sued for harassment as well as wrongful arrest.

It seems that Surrey Police need something stronger than a warning, such as some of them being drummed out of the force.

Do the police honestly have any idea how this looks to any sane, rational person?

On Growing kiwi fruit, we were in Croatia and saw them growing in a few places and stopped at one house to marvel at the size of the vine and the plethora of fruit on it. It covered the gable end and half the front wall

A woman saw us from the window, came out and told us to take as many as we liked; she seemed disappointed that we only filled a carrier bag. There were several orders of magnitude more than she could deal with and piles of the rotting on the ground!

Passion fruit, doh! Feel stupid now

Same house had a big hibiscus growing round the patio. Felt quite tropical.

No hummingbirds though - we had those in Texas and I found them ridiculously thrilling. Our (rental) garden was very sparse so I used to put sugar water feeders out for them.

I've been investigating kiwi farming and it is an absolute non-starter. The little fuckers only produce 2 or 3 eggs a year while chickens bang out 300. Also the eggs are massive and are useless outside of commercial catering. They also have a very poor conversion of feed to meat, need a very large area of land per kiwi and are highly vulnerable to predation.

Basically, trying to farm kiwis is a stupid idea and anybody who is obsessed with kiwi farms needs to reconnect with reality.

Passiflora edulis is passion fruit. I also grow those.

Kiwifruit is Actinidia. It is a huge old bastard of a plant.

Kiwi berry is Actinidia arguta. Smaller fruits than kiwis.

Grew a kiwi vine from seed a few years ago but it was killed by The Big Frost. No idea what I’d have done with it had it survived.

I think the passion fruit and the kiwi fruit are very different genera(?) - passion fruit are from South America, kiwis from China (hence Chinese gooseberry).

I used to have a passionflower vine that was like a triffid - it self seeded like mad.

I had wondered about this.

I got my hopes up them. Alas that is just normal tablet with desiccated coconut stirred in.

I will replicate it correctly myself one day!

Is the plant the kiwi fruit grows on the same species as the passion flower vine?

I must confess I am a kiwi farmer.

As in, I literally grow kiwi berries, the males are there to pollinate the females. Literally their only job.
