Feminism: Sex and gender discussions
Helleofabore · 18/10/2023 09:29

Dylan Mulvaney:

“And some people don’t see me as a woman at all. No matter how hard I try, or what I wear, or what I say, or what surgeries I get, I will never reach an acceptable version of womanhood by those hateful people’s standards."

The misogyny is very clear here.

Waitwhat23 · 18/10/2023 09:20

I think it probably started off as just a spotlight hungry performer looking for attention but then he realised just how much money he could make and leaned into it. When all this bullshit starts to die down (as is coming), he'll be able to say -

'Of course it was all fake! It was actually a really clever commentary about society and erm...well, the female lady brain and stuff'.

'Oh. Well, presumably you're going to give back all the money you got under false pretences then?'

'Well, hang on! Let's not go quite that far!'

Froodwithatowel · 18/10/2023 09:10

I don't intend to jibe about appearance much as Mulvaney works very hard to provoke it.

But is it necessary that he and others should respect my beliefs as much as requiring me to respect their beliefs? Including my belief that he has not changed sex, is not a woman, but is a male who identifies as a transwoman, and that I will not be enabling alternative realities that harm me and every other woman?

Yes. It is.

timenowplease · 18/10/2023 09:10

I actually like Dylan. I reckon he'd have landed some other type of gig if he'd held out a bit longer.

Seems like he's still got normal testosterone levels and not on any female hormones. As PP said, it will be very difficult for him to extricate himself from this without some massive fallout.

Was this absolutely necessary? Feels like being mean for the sake of being mean at this point.

'I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat.'

Yes, basically just plastic surgery to the face. I don't think it makes him look more feminine particularly, it does make him look more 'Hollywood' though.

I don't think any other surgery or body modification has been done.

WickedSerious · 18/10/2023 08:54

Bananalanacake · 18/10/2023 08:52

When I first saw a photo of this person I thought it was a woman as they were wearing leggings and didn't have much in the underpants area, have they had surgery

Have you seen his 'normalise the bulge' video?

Bananalanacake · 18/10/2023 08:52

Helleofabore · 18/10/2023 08:51

Yes just facial surgery.

And supposedly to appear more feminine however, I haven’t seen that it did that. Maybe male people see the surgery as being successful as appearing more feminine.

AFieldGuideToTrees · 18/10/2023 08:48

Counciltelly · 18/10/2023 08:32

I dunno, why the surgery if it’s all a long con?

💰💰💰💰💰

theDudesmummy · 18/10/2023 08:48

I understood that he has only had facial surgery? Or am I wrong about that?

Counciltelly · 18/10/2023 08:32

I dunno, why the surgery if it’s all a long con?

It was a very lucrative surgery if you consider what had been achieved with it and since. It adds credibility.

theDudesmummy · 18/10/2023 08:40

I had not read this Malcolm Clark before, he seems a really good one.

He recently talked about starting to feel more male, so if he morphs into being gender fluid, then quietly disappears into being a man he'll be fine.

He must be made for life.

Oh I see. He already has an exit strategy. What a grifter.

cheezncrackers · 18/10/2023 08:29

That's a very good article - thanks Malcolm Clark - but if a woman had written it she'd be inundated with hate mail, death threats, rape threats, called a TERF, etc. Men can call out this bullshit and people just nod and say 'Yup', but god forbid a woman do so. I'm so tired of this misogynist crap that just won't go away.

Dylan Mulvaney is a man.

A misogynistic grifter of a man.

The fall out once his time in the spotlight is done and the genderborg turn on him is going to be epic.

I can't wait 🍿🥂🍾🥳

"We need to stop enabling Dylan Mulvaney"

Well ok, why not start by stop talking about her?

Was this absolutely necessary? Feels like being mean for the sake of being mean at this point.

My first day as a girl and I’ve already cried three times. I wrote a scathing email that I did not send, I ordered dresses online that I could not afford. And then, when someone asked how I was, I said I was fine when I wasn’t.’
These are Mulvaney's own words. Day three of being a girl was about embracing being a 'bimbo'.
Mulvaney is making millions out pure and unadulterated sexism, so no, its not 'mean' to criticise that.
Anyone who has even a minimal respect for the humanity of woman would be horrified by Mulvaney's depiction of womanhood.
Frankly, there's not much difference between how Mulvaney views women and how Andrew Tate does.
I'm sure as hell going to criticise both of them, because how they define women goes well beyond 'mean'. It's inhumane.

Reader note:

The recent past has now shown us just how important pronouns are in getting changes of law and policy. It has come to light that it is a leverage tool so that activists can use the rhetoric ‘I am fully accepted as a female, people call me ‘she’, it is cruel to deny me access to [insert female single sex space or sex based opportunity here]’. And it works.

For instance, Rachel McKinnon - now Veronica Ivy, has repeatedly used this emotional manipulation in media interviews since 2018. It is interesting to read media from that time when at the time McKinnon was kicked off another male with a trans identitiy’s cycle team because of differences of opinion about advantages of male puberty.

So, when posters declare it is ‘mean’ or ‘unnecessary’ to correctly sex a human who has chosen pronouns that obscure their sex it causes immense harm to other’s rights. By moving the discussion to where activists such as Ivy use it as ultimate leverage. ‘If the world treats me as a woman, even using female pronouns, I am female and need to be treated as female in all law and policy’.

It is up to you whether you use a person’s preferred pronouns, but it is important to understand the overall result of doing so.

I would bet that he regrets his success tbh as there is no easy way out now. I can't see this ending well for anyone.

Someone really should've told Dylan that if you go from dark to blonde, you probably need to change the colour palette of your make-up. Smoky eyes and dark lips may look sultry on a brunette, but risks making you look like one of the undead if you're blonde and pale.

I don’t usually comment on appearance but I saw that photo and for the first brief second genuinely all I could see was one of the Gentlemen (ironically) from the Buffy episode ‘Hush’.
