The wonderful singer Alison Moyet has dipped a toe in controversial waters regarding all the different sexualities and identities being bandied around.

This was her tweet earlier today:

New speak really can be a right old dose of bollocks. Graysexual? Demisexual? Jesus. Some people badly need to get a paper round or a sudoku habit.

Good for her to reject this craziness. Lots of people on Twitter/X are agreeing with her, but others are not very happy. Hope she stands her ground!

Her no-nonsense stance on twitter is so refreshing and I agree with her. A young non-binary person I know also has a nigh-on incomprehensible sexuality, something to do with not being able to have sex without being in love... How is that so unusual as to need it's own term?!

I have no idea why people feel the need to put every aspect of their sexuality into a little description box. Not being able to have sex without being in love - big deal. That’s not unusual!

I wonder how much of it stems from role-playing video games, where you get to choose, craft and refine your character in minute detail. People’s lives seem to be increasingly like an RPG game.

Greysexuals are probably into wizards!

She’s a legend, but bites her tongue more often than not these days because she can’t be doing with the abuse. She’s also been busy completing a degree in fine art too. Love her.

Oh I love this anecdote about the origins of ‘Alf’! What a formidable character she was and still is.
