Ah, if she's now got a 'trans child', that explains quite a bit. Doesn't excuse it though.

Can you imagine being a Conservative voter and being looked after in hospital by her?

Could you imagine being a conservative voter after 13 years of failure and corruption that has lead to a overwhelming poverty and inequality. A party so without policies or ideas they've turned to racism and xenophobia to win votes.

The country is falling to pieces in every area, they're destroying our future economic outlook with regressive ideas and people are worried about what a nurse thinks about trans.

Honestly, it's pitiful. We can't complain when things get worse when people tolerate and even embolden this nonsense.

I work with all kinds of clients. I don't squack about who I prefer.

The post is talking about being a patient on a ward not the nurse preferring who she’d treat. If you’re going to repost something from someone’s SM and bring it to a discussion forum then at least get it right

No. It isn’t. It’s about her hatred for half the population in general terms. And she works for the population as a whole.

If Govt staff hate half the public, the public should know.

In this case, it’s prompted by a very un conservative personal attack on her family by the Govt. She should definitely be able to protest.

Expressing it as hating half the population is weird but possibly helpful to prompt more Tories to say “not in my name”

It’s a bad rule though.

The public should be allowed to know when the public sector workers hate the public.

Not being allowed to express themselves doesn’t make the views go away.

If anything does happen the it’s better for everyone except the Government that’s the prejudices can be demonstrated.

When they support policies, the public should be entitled to know where that is coming from too.

However, conservatives politicians are trying to distract people from the disastrous economic impact of the past three years by abusing trans people.

Your contact should be entitled to object.

If she had to break rules in order to object then it demonstrates bravery.

The duty to protest and break bad laws or guidelines is one that we in this nation don’t acknowledge enough.

No one said she was injecting her patients etc etc.

Have you never been bound by a social media policy at work?

I've always been told I can't make political statements on social media.

It’s a bad rule though.

I'm not going to report her. She's just some misplaced woman I worked with year ago no doubt all puffed up with Mermaids crap.

But she's totally in breach of NHS social media policy.

Very sad for a senior manager in peadriatic nursing to sink so low and be so unprofessional. I feel sorry for her but I have no intention of getting her into trouble at work.

Just wish she'd exercise some personal discretion.

You realize you've been very indiscreet with her personal information. We now know she has an 8-year-old trans child, is a senior paediatric nurse, you've shown us her profile picture, need I go on?

Please ask to have those posts and the photo removed before you find yourself in a lawsuit. It would be fairly easy for someone to find her. In fact, withdraw the thread. You may not have done so with deliberate malice (although your dislike of her is very hard to miss- puffed up?) but you are opening her up to harm and ridicule because you dislike her opinion.

addictedtotheflats · 06/10/2023 05:27

@Guavafish1 agreed.

Guavafish1 · 06/10/2023 05:22

So you think the UK should be like North Korean and sensor peoples opinions based because of their line of work.

You may not agree with it, but its not unprofessional.

addictedtotheflats · 06/10/2023 05:19

Multiple nurse colleagues of mine have reposted this plus more. Some part of the LGBTQ community and some not. Management haven't mentioned anything

beenwhereyouare · 06/10/2023 05:19

@Brokendaughter

And what makes her evil? 🙄

@Brokendaughter

Please- you can't seriously be equating this! She posted a transphobic/anti-Tories meme on her SM account, and you're putting her in the same category as Lucy Letby? Since when does having an opinion make someone equivalent to a killer?😕

TheFairyCaravan · 06/10/2023 05:07

Bloody hell! If you’re offended by that don’t look on Twitter to see what nurses and other HCPs are saying about the Tories!

How could you know that? I could be earning mega bucks in the growth industry profiteering by the reclassification of a drug used to treat prostate cancer and to medically castrate paedophiles to stunt gender none conforming kids?

What??

I wonder if the people who think that this is a reasonable political statement which is fair game for a nurse who wishes to publicly express these kind of preferences would be such freedom of speech champions if the words tory and transwoman were reversed in that sentence?

It's not a "reasonable political statement." It's a spectacularly half-witted meme.

And she's still entitled to post it. It doesn't impinge on her professionalism in the slightest.

If you are reporting someone to their employer because you don't like their personal opinions, whatever they may be, you're weak and pathetic.

TBH I'm sure a lot of NHS staff are feeling a little anti right wing right now. I don't think it's any harm - I don't like people pushing their political agenda's either way but that's facebook for you

This is a very good point. I suspect not.

OP stated "I'm not going to report her" on Page 1 of the thread.
OP stated "I have no intention of getting her into trouble at work".

The most she's said, in another comment, is that she plans to delete the person on social media, which seems fair enough if she doesn't want to read her posts.

And yet I'm reading comments in which people are asking OP what is wrong with her, that she's harassing the nurse, that she's asking whether she should try to get the nurse fired, and how nasty it is that she's reporting this woman and getting her into trouble at work.

But she isn't? Is there something I'm not understanding? You may disagree with OP's views just as OP disagrees with the nurse's views, and again that's fair enough, but why say she's reporting/harassing/trying to get the nurse fired if that isn't the case?

Desecratedcoconut · 06/10/2023 03:43

Personally, I'd rather share a ward with a trans man than a trans woman. I'm glad that we can state preferences without accusations of bigotry.

14blackcrows · 06/10/2023 03:40

Stating a preference doesn't mean you would give sub par care.
I've had to give medical care to convicted paedophiles... and I've done it with the same level of care and professionalism that I would afford anyone.
But that doesn't mean I have no preference over who I'd rather be caring for!
As an NHS worker it is your job to give everybody the best standard of care that you are able... it is not your job to have no personal opinions about what type of people you prefer to be around.

Desecratedcoconut · 06/10/2023 03:38

And if she posted:

I'd rather share a ward with a tory than a trans person

...then that would be fine too, right?

Toddlerteaplease · 06/10/2023 03:32

This is referring to if she was a patient, not her treating anyone. If she said she'd rather treat a transperson over a Tory. That would be different.

Karensalright · 05/10/2023 22:30

Nurses are not supposed to post professional issues on social media report it

It's not a professional issue.
