Employment Tribunal starts next Monday, not sure if it is available for remote viewing.

I have sent a request so we will see.

Shameless placemarking. And also wishing @RocketPanda the swiftest of recoveries 💐

SerpentEndBench · 26/09/2023 23:41

RocketPanda very best wishes from me as well.

AutumnCrow · 26/09/2023 23:28

Jo's raised £200,535 thus far, so if trying to out-spend her was a tactic - well, it hasn't worked. A lot of people like me will donate again as needed.

The general rule I apply in my cases is to get one witness to support each point you need. Avoid overlapping as much as possible as that just increases the chances of contradiction and getting in a right old mess. If you need to prove that x said y, get one credible person to support it, tick the box and move on to the next point. 18 witnesses has the potential to be an absolute shambles, as well as a colossal waste of court time.

But not our time … or Ben Cooper’s? I imagine it is going to be very entertaining.

on a serious note, would it be expected of a solicitor or barrister to take note of the opposing barristers experience and track record, and then consider the risks of one’s witness list, and advise the client.

All good thoughts @RocketPanda

Sisterpita · 25/09/2023 21:15

Flowers @RocketPanda

LarkLane · 25/09/2023 20:22

Eighteen witnesses? What a shambles that promises to be.
I can't think I've ever seen an Employment Tribunal with so many witnesses in all my years. Going for quantity rather than quality of testimony then, in a foolish attempt to intimidate?

@RocketPanda I've been through a similar op, still here and still terfy years later. I'll be thinking of you Flowers

Melissamelisante · 25/09/2023 20:19

Thanks. Have requested access and cleared my schedule.

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 25/09/2023 18:51

All the best @RocketPanda.

ickky · 25/09/2023 15:53

Has anyone got a verified Twitter account? I tried to message Tribunal Tweets to see if they can send someone to attend, but it won't let me unless I have a verified account. 😠

Can anyone else try?

All the best, RocketPanda

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 25/09/2023 14:54

So pleased she’s made her target. I shall be following along

RocketPanda · 25/09/2023 14:54

Thanks @AutumnCrow , I didn't mean to hijack this thread.
We're in the middle of a huge cultural shift where people are questioning instead of blindly following. All these wonderful women bringing their cases are shining sunlight on the whole thing.

RocketPanda · 25/09/2023 14:39

Thanks @ickky , they will be taking a tumour out of my brain so I'm going to be pretty out of it for a few days, although if I come back here a raging TRA they operated on the wrong part 😆

You take it easy, @RocketPanda Flowers

We can fill you in on any developments when you return to us.

ickky · 25/09/2023 14:43

Oh bless you @RocketPanda I will be sending positive thoughts your way. xxx

You will also need to submit to "questioning" upon your return to the thread to make sure you are still a terf!!

Yes there may well be some laugh out loud moments when Ben Cooper gets going on the Open University's unflagging loyalty to Stonewall WEI, and to its own EDI policies and networks, and how those and its behaviour towards Prof Jo P are compatible with, you know, the actual law.

I would love for all 18 witnesses to be examined on this.

ickky · 25/09/2023 14:27

@RocketPanda I think the first day is usually a lot of waffle and titting about so the next day it should start properly.

Will you get home the next day?

Although, If you have stitches, you probably shouldn't read this thread. Bad for blood pressure and popping stitches😁

Jokes aside, best wishes for the surgery and I hope it all goes well and you have a fast recovery.

Thanks @Rightsraptor.

Rightsraptor · 25/09/2023 13:59

I hope your surgery goes well, @RocketPanda, and that you'll be well enough then to enjoy Ben Cooper wiping the floor with the OU's many witnesses.

Besides a possible strategy of thinking 18 witnesses will greatly assist in obliterating Jo Phoenix's funds, it strikes me that they might also be thinking they'll have a stronger case with Uncle Tom Cobbley and all on the stand. All those witnesses! Wow, how persuasive they'll all be! But only if they're any good. If they're rubbish they'll be a massive handicap to the OU's case. Fingers crossed 🤞.

Has anyone started a book on number of witnesses' mums, invisible lawyers, and emotional support goldfish?

It could end up as a cast of thousands, I'm not betting. 😂

Are the OU trying to stretch out the time and Jo's finances?

MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 25/09/2023 13:26

Hoping it is made available online. I doubt we’ll get support animals (unless Ben’s wren appears) but I would really like to hear more about the mindset that exists in academia these days. Hopefully 18 witnesses will give ample opportunity to do so.

Also interested to see how the academic mindset/personalities react when giving evidence. On the face of it, I would have thought an academic would relish the ability to do a bit of back-and-forth. But then remembering how some of Alison Baileys colleagues behaved it could get quite, er, spicy. Never get a barrister to give evidence was my takeaway from that one.

RocketPanda · 25/09/2023 13:00

I've my final surgery on that date so I'm going to rely on you all to give me all the details, support dog descriptions, birdsong and bundle errors.
