'Louise Redknapp pulls out of Eternal reunion after her bandmates REFUSE to play LGBTQ+ festivals and Pride over claims they are being 'hijacked' by the trans community'

'the debate about the trans lobby and the erosion of the rights of women and children'

Nice and clear.

“This is about the debate about the trans lobby and the erosion of the rights of women and children. Vernie said she had some concerns about the Pride movement being hijacked - and she is not alone - but this has now been weaponized against her, with Louise’s team trying to get her cancelled. The fact that the public statements by Louise’s team conveniently failed to acknowledge these concerns...once again shows how women are being excluded from the conversation.”

Yeah, this. I can't say I predicted that the potential reunion of a minor 90s girl band would be the catalyst for this debate moving further into public debate, but here we are.

MargotBamborough · 27/09/2023 09:54

That's a powerful rebuttal by Denis Ingoldsby.

I'm glad someone spelled out the details even if Vernie herself clearly preferred to take the high road.

ScribblingPixie · 27/09/2023 09:46

I like Vernie's statement.

'Eternal’s original manager Denis Ingoldsby issued a passionate defence of sisters Easther and Vernie, who he now manages. He said they have been left 'devastated' and accused Louise’s team of misrepresenting details of a private email.'
...
“Louise and her team have thrown them under the bus and everyone is totally appalled at their bullying behaviour by totally misrepresenting the situation to suit their own agenda,” he said. “The girls sent an email to Louise’s camp saying they loved playing Pride, and they loved the ethos of the event. For her camp to go on the record suggesting they are homophobic is utterly outrageous. This is nothing about gay rights. The girls have played numerous LGBTQI venues their entire careers and have been inspired by the love and acceptance they have received.

Bernie's statement on Instagram

I’m thinking womanstanley understands perfectly well and has happily skipped onto this thread for a lovely little wind up.
No one who reads this board can be ignorant of the aggression directed at those who dare disagree with trans ideology.
It’s also been explained very clearly.
It amazes and baffles me how anyone can learn about the violence and abuse meted out by some trans activists and not be utterly horrified and disgusted.
And Louise is most definitely in the wrong. No one has the right to disclose another’s personal and private views or opinions without consent. It’s pretty basic stuff!

ScholesPanda · 27/09/2023 01:37

Oh I absolutely agree. But it works both ways.

What works both ways?

Absolutely nobody is going to send Louise rape or death threats for making this statement.

And religious extremists are dangerous to everyone. You’d never tar everyone following a particular religion with the same brush in the way that you’re desperate to do with the trans community.

You seem not to have understood. Not a single poster on this thread (or anywhere on this part of Mumsnet) has said that all trans people are a threat. Trans activists, most of whom are not actually trans, are a different story.

You clearly don’t think that there are activists out there who will harass and punish the sisters now that their views have been revealed.

If you believed it was the case, would you think it was wrong?

And what would you need to be shown to be persuaded that it is true?

ScholesPanda · 27/09/2023 01:37

Oh I absolutely agree. But it works both ways.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 26/09/2023 20:21

Many are. Like the one who punched an elderly woman in NZ. Or threw soup at a woman. Or screamed in a baby's face. A fucking baby! The intimidation from some trans activists is out there for all to see.

Show me any trans event where GC people have turned up in masks, followed them down the street harassing them, exhibited violence, held placards saying 'punch trans people in the face'. Go ahead.

MargotBamborough · 26/09/2023 20:16

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 26/09/2023 20:10

Throw around all the buzzwords you like - you’re still making an assumption that trans activists are all violent.

No, we are stating the undeniable fact that a lot of them are.

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 26/09/2023 20:10

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 26/09/2023 20:04

I think the words were 'trans activists'. Did anyone state 'the whole trans community'? Nice bit of whataboutery though.

I'm not tarring the entire community with the same brush.

I am saying - and this is a fact, not an opinion - that some trans activists regularly threaten, harass, doxx and assault women who disagree with them.

Louise made a public statement about Easther and Vernie.

Those trans activists are members of the public and can see what she has said.

She has given them a new target for their criminal activities.

PaperWalkAndTalk · 26/09/2023 20:03

Risk of violence is a major concern and is something that has happened to many women who have raised this issue, but cancellation is almost guaranteed.

The statement was deliberately put out as revenge for not agreeing to all of the shows. It was done knowing that they would be punished (in the form of limited media appearances, cancelled shows etc).

Roisin Murphy expressed views on a private FB page, the Bennett sisters didn't even write of say anything that could be shared (as hard evidence), this was part of confidential negotiations with agents etc.

But you're wrong.

You're as entitled to that opinion as I am to mine. It doesn’t make my view irrelevant.

How much evidence do you need that trans activists are dangerous to women who don't agree with them?

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 26/09/2023 19:57

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 26/09/2023 19:34

I don’t believe she is putting them at risk.

Well that is shocking coming from a misogynistic movement apologiser. Just shocking.

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 26/09/2023 19:56

MargotBamborough · 26/09/2023 19:53

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 26/09/2023 19:48

What you believe isn't relevant.

I was asked to explain my view. It should be obvious that what I believe is not only relevant, but fundamental, to my answer.

But you're wrong.

There isn't really any other way of putting it.

Trans activists are violent and threatening towards women who don't share their beliefs every day. The internet is filled with evidence of it. And those are the people Louise chose to share Easther and Vernie's views with, without their consent.

Of course she has put them at risk.

This isn't a debate.

She risked their safety for woke points. Or else she is a complete fucking airhead who has no idea about the violent and predatory behaviour of the vulnerable and marginalised people she believes she is supporting.

What you believe isn't relevant.

We have seen time and time again that women who choose to put their own heads above the parapet and object to this misogynistic, homophobic movement are harassed, threatened, assaulted and doxxed.

Whether you choose to believe it or not is neither here nor there.

Louise chose to disclose Easther and Vernie's position to the same group of people who brandish placards saying "punch a TERF", threaten to send pipe bombs to JK Rowling, and try to get people fired from their jobs for saying men can't be women.

StephanieSuperpowers · 26/09/2023 19:44

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 26/09/2023 19:34

Oh well that's fine then, they've stopped attacking women. Phew!
