Tough Crowd, due out 12 October. I’m delighted to see this. He is such a good writer and has sacrificed so much in defence of women’s rights and reality itself. Hope it’s a smash hit.

Glinner is going to be very busy signing his books.
I imagine he'll do some book tours too, but the tedium of having to fight your way through the mask clad posh boys - let's do it women! Im going to get Glinner to sign my book again twice!

Ohyoudodoyou · 14/09/2023 14:57

My friend in another country has just ordered it too thanks to me... spread the word.
I don't like being told what I can read, watch or listen to.

Worldgonecrazy · 14/09/2023 14:54

I am going to annoy my local Waterstones by buying it from them. I know it won’t be signed but I will enjoy asking the assistant whether they have it, and could they direct me to it. Yes, the assistant did have blue hair and a septum piercing last time I visited.

itsmylife7 · 14/09/2023 14:52

Thanks didn't know about this book.
I've ordered it direct from the publisher.

Looked on Twitter x and he said he preferred that but not an issue if you can't.

Free postage as well.

Very much enjoying Willoughby's rage on the RA quote, which comes with a helpful round up of other celebrities who have been brave enough to speak for sense and science

What did Helena BC and Louis Theroux say? I must have missed those.

Glinner said MB apologised, he doesn't seem bothered by it.

That's good - now I can like him again.

DialSquare · 14/09/2023 14:27

I've also ordered through Eye Books. Will buy the audiobook too when it comes out.

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 14/09/2023 14:18

I would like to see this on the shelf at my local library

Can you still order books in libraries? Ones that they don't have, but they get them in for you, at your request; then, when you've read and returned them, they stay on the shelves for everybody else to borrow indefinitely?

I know they always used to - presumably they reckoned that, rather than guessing what people might want to borrow, they might as well order something with at least one guaranteed borrower.

If so, how many public libraries could then have a copy in them, if MNers from across the country all request it? And if any libraries refuse, on the (completely spurious) grounds that 'the author's views are controversial/hateful', ask why they stock Mein Kampf, then?!

Ohyoudodoyou · 14/09/2023 14:16

Just ordered mine, yes signed hopefully via the website.
I feel like the bloke who bought the first copy of 'Lady Chatterley's Lover"...

SueVineer · 14/09/2023 14:15

Apparently if you order it directly from the publisher (Eye books store) you will get a signed copy.

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 14/09/2023 14:12

Matt Berry said the IT crowd episode was of its time and he did not align with Graham now. “I don’t condone anything that that comedy portrayed, you know? I don’t share any views that the writer has.”

It was on 15 years ago - not 150 years. Surely, with something as basic as this, you would know what your views were on it, one way or the other?

I mean, it's not like any new evidence has come to light recently, has it - either you're a believer or you're not. And if it were, say, a traditional religious faith that you'd since embraced in the last few years, you would fully acknowledge that "I'VE changed"; you wouldn't say that not believing was of its time, but the world has now moved on in a decade or so, so that everybody surely must.

PaperWalkAndTalk · 14/09/2023 14:11

Surely as their calls for boycotts grow more and more ridiculous, this time it is to cancel people whose views on the matter are unknown but essentially liking an unrelated book, people will grow tired of it.

This again is like the cancel JKR because she liked a tweet of someone who once posted a completely separate "transphobic" tweet that wasn't liked by her.

GrandmaMazur · 14/09/2023 11:35

Did Matt Berry throw Glinner under the bus? I seem to remember Graham saying that MB had been supportive. What did I miss?

Glinner said MB apologised, he doesn't seem bothered by it.

TheClitterati · 14/09/2023 14:04

It was all the X/Twitter frothing that alerted me to the book release - cheers dudes!

The Babs Streisand affect will be powerful with this one 😁

TheClitterati · 14/09/2023 14:02

I've pre-ordered one direct to get a signed copy, and another on Amazon so I can review etc. and give as a gift.

Congratulations @Glinner - I can't wait to read it.

MaryShelleysMonster · 14/09/2023 14:00

I ordered it today.
Although the last time I ordered books from Simon Edge (and liked his tweets about the books I'd ordered) - some TRA went on GoodReads and gave my own book a scathingly bad review. Tossers.

JoodyBlue · 14/09/2023 13:59

This is wonderful news. Especially the tweet from Simon Edge about newspaper serialisation. Hope Glinner is finally in a position to earn a living again. I've just pre-ordered it, together with the forthcoming Strike book which is also due out soon. Great to see RA and JR endorsements.

ihavespoken · 14/09/2023 13:53

Pre-ordered -thanks!

maltravers · 14/09/2023 13:52

I would like to see this on the shelf at my local library (or will it be locked up in the restricted section for dangerous books?). I think I will try to order it there.

Calistano · 14/09/2023 13:49

I never buy anything because I'm always skint, but I will buy this. Absolutely love glinner and his sense of humour (I'm willing to believe I lack context for count Arthur strong lol). He has lost so much, also he was willing to realise he harmed others with his previous behaviour and apologised. Admirable.

Why do people think, as a bloke he has been (almost) singled out for cancellation, when most men just get gentle blowback? James dreyfuss and Gareth Roberts were also treated to the same treatment.

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/09/2023 13:46

@Glinner says he's recording the audiobook Smile

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/09/2023 13:45

Newspaper serialisation too!

And Glinner and Richard A are trending on twiXter - the frothing blue hairs are doing a great job of publicising the book Grin

Perhaps if it does well he might be encouraged to write more. It will give him a new platform now that he can't get tv work for love nor money.

Cosmosforbreakfast · 14/09/2023 13:42

Thank you Graham for supporting us, for not apologising, for not backing down.
Thank you Richard and Jonathon for supporting a man who supports us.

Looking forward to my nice new book arriving.
