This. I mean, we knew he was a misogynist because he asserted men could be women. But this takes him to utter, despicable, misogynist prick level. He clearly has never ever taken the time to learn about trauma or the many ways women have to act to appease dangerous men.

RoyalCorgi I don’t think he’s tweeted directly about it but he talks about a son where before he talked about daughters (and the son isn’t a new baby from the context) and I’ve seen him tweet about how unfair the guidance for schools was for trans boys. I realise I sound obsessed but I only went looking when I saw him getting into arguments about puberty blockers and thought hmm.

I wasn’t quite such a fan but I did used to listen to and enjoy Remainiacs. The fact that Dorian has come out with such an attack on HJ has actually taken me aback. I knew he had a trans child and was in with the fox killer but still. Also disappointed to see Ian Dunt getting in there too. I thought he was a bit more balanced.

Do you have any more info about this, inkjet? I was struck by the vehemence of Lynskey's attack on Helen Joyce, but if he has a trans-identifying child that would make some sense.

It's harassment if it happens to a man. If it, however, happens to the 50% of the population who were put on the earth to serve men, it's fine really.

He's a working class guy from Essex, who left school at 16, learned to play the guitar and fell in with radical pop and folk songs. That's his identity, and he's sticking to it. It has served him well.

Lots of people, perhaps even most, are not really instinctively political thinkers - but they are very social creatures and so they tend to align with their frienndship group - or the views of those in their immediate circle. Belonging is more important. I suspect Bragg is one of these people. I've just found an interview he did in 2015 in which he says:

"Although the household I grew up in was apolitical, the music I listened to was full of opinions. Simon and Garfunkel, Dylan and the other singer-songwriters were always asking questions, but the politics of the 1960s ran deeply through soul music too. Bragg is a noisier version of ‘left’ wing men who have totally thrown women under a bus. I used to enjoy the work of so many but now won’t have a bar of any of them. Mark Thomas ( who also stopped his ex wife publishing a book - but purports to support free speech), Ben Elton, Mark Steel, to name a handful. It’s almost impossible to enjoy the work of any left wing comedian/ commentator because you know underneath the work, ideals they place no value on women’s rights, spaces, feelings and autonomy which directly contradicts true left wing values.

Bragg was an absolute cunt during the time Corbyn's antisemite chums were ruling Labour. Got my measure of the man then. Everything he has since done is just further proof of his tribal vindictiveness.
