New sports club at DC’s high school only open to LGBTQ+ pupils and their allies

Are they legally allowed to exclude GC pupils? Or pupils who are not one of the special alphabet children?

This is a really great club - nothing like the school has offered before. Seems a shame to limit attendance based on sexuality/gender ideology rather than interest/ability.

We’re in Scotland if that makes a difference.

‘You keep repeating that this club is for gay kids. ‘

I do. My friends and I use that as a catch all to not have to say ‘lesbian, bisexual, gay, trans, queer:questioning’ because it’s a mouth ful.
and it’s quicker than typing LGBT etc etc
gay, queer call it whatever. Same same.

But that’s nonsense. Being LGB has nothing to do with being TQ. Any male who fancies females is either straight or possibly bisexual, regardless of how they identify.

MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 16/09/2023 14:37

I think they identify as pan sexual. But my point was that "gay" doesn't mean "trans" so using the word "gay" as a coverall is nonsense.

I suppose non binary and pansexual (what's the difference between pansexual and bisexual) makes slightly more sense than being non binary and either gay or straight.

Because you'd have to be like, I identify as being neither male nor female, but hypothetically supposing I were one or the other it would be this one and I only have sex with people who are hypothetically the other/same one.

MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 16/09/2023 14:37

MargotBamborough · 16/09/2023 14:12

So your friend is non binary but only attracted to members of the opposite sex even though they class themselves as neither male nor female? 🙃

It's a club that is available to everyone. Everyone should be a LGBT+ ally as it relates to school children.
If it's a physical sport and they put your DD in/against a mixed sex team (and she's over 12) then she needs a strategy to be able to remove herself without making herself a target.
BTW if she shares your 'alphabet soup' mentality she probably won't enjoy the group dynamic anyway.

LGB is not the same as T.
Is someone still an ally if they don't agree with TWAW?

Froodwithatowel · 16/09/2023 14:25

Everyone should be a LGBT+ ally as it relates to school children.

You do realise this means NOT being an ally to school children who are homosexual? The politics of the word ally and that phrase mean compliance to the TQ+ politics, which by definition means that being homosexual is being a sexual racist. Are you really in favour of everyone telling lesbian girls that they are wrong for not being attracted to boys when boys say they are girls? That they must learn to cope with unwanted sex with penises?

Seriously?

Is ANYONE competent in reading comprehension on this thread and able to address their own lack of understanding? These issues are explained multiple times on every page! It's one long 'cancel the cheque'.

But they aren't the same.

DS1 is gay. He is a male who is exclusively attracted to males.

DS2 and I are bisexual. We are attracted to males and females. Although both prefer men. We are not Gay and would not claim to be.

I have a good friend who is NB. They are also not Gay. They are trans-non-binary (their words)

You're this close to getting it.

The reason it's a mouthful is because of all the other, unrelated identities that have been lumped in with the LGB.

But they're not the same. LG and B are sexualities. All the letters after the B are identities (of straight people). Those are two different things.

SirChenjins · 16/09/2023 12:40

Not not.

‘Why should any child not have access to a sports club?’

any child does have access to this one, even though it primarily exists for Gay kids.
our school has a BAME support grp -
but white kids can attend.

You keep repeating that this club is for gay kids.

Anything called LGBTQ is not about gay kids and definitely not about lesbian kids. But you’re clearly very determined to ignore all the points that GC lesbians have made on this thread.

You have been given tons of examples of children who may not feel comfortable attending this group. I'm not sure why you are choosing to ignore them?

And anyway, this isn't an LGBTQ+ support group. (I expect there is one of those as well.) It's a sports club. A sport which isn't catered for by any other club in the school and which has nothing to do with being LGBTQ+.

Oh that's good. Did you type that with a straight face?

Huh?

Every child should have equal access to play sport.

Don't you agree?

And with every post reinforcing the message that the TQ matters more than the LGB.

@SirChenjins how did you get on at the school. What’s their response at your sons distress at being denied this magical activity?

SirChenjins · 15/09/2023 11:58

Oh they’re reading them @Froodwithatowel - they’re just looking the other way and choosing not to answer them because #bekind and rainbows.

The problem is that there's huge amounts of homophobia in traditional male sports, especially team sports (interestingly not in female sports where my dd found she was sometimes in the minority being straight) this club is to try and reach a group that traditionally has been excluded from sports and allowing allies means they can come with a friend, perhaps those not "out" yet or those who also don't feel comfortable in testosterone fuelled team sports. I don't see it as discrimination I see it as correcting a situation that exists.

Again, the homophobia is inside the political movement organising this for kids

LGBT means compliant to TQ politics, girls experiencing homophobia from those going ew, you're gay are going to experience it again inside LGBT groups (and probably a lot worse) from those going 'if you don't do boys who identify as girls you should be throat punched/kerb stomped and you're not welcome here bigot'.

But no one's reading any posts on this thread before adding comments like this, so I don't know why I'm bothering really.

MagpiePi · 15/09/2023 11:47

If the school was to set up a sports club only for children who still believe in Santa or who think Stormzy is better than Beyoncé then people would rightly object, but because the magical LGBTQ+ letters are involved then everyone is supposed to think it is absolutely wonderful and giving a safe space to ‘the most marginalised group in society’.

Any situation where adults are organising activities and clubs for children based on sexuality or trans beliefs (LGB and TQ+ should not be force teamed) are creepy as fuck in any case.

SirChenjins · 15/09/2023 11:43

Edit - small as in part of the much wider context, not small as in insignificant. Just wanted to clarify that.

It's a lot of things @gogomoto - sexual harassment is only one small part of it. Would you care to address the other issues?
