The sickening thing is that we all know that if the situation was completely reversed, ie transmen wanting to attend a gay mens speed dating club and told no, men only, then that would have been it. There wouldn’t have been a carefully orchestrated backlash, the venue targeted, the organiser threatened on social media, the event forced to close. It is about using a stalking horse to target women, their rights to meet, their rights to choose sexual, partners, our rights to say no to men.

ArabeIIaScott · 16/08/2023 08:24

Appalling. It really does show that lesbians are effecively banned from organising women-only events.

Anxioys · 16/08/2023 08:22

That is concerning and definitely needs litigating.

But I do think also that this is about social compliance- the threat is to the business and its reputation.

What is the threat here? Groups of protesters outside venues. No business wants that. They will be nervous that the police will not disperse them and they would be right to worry.

It's not the alleged discrimination against trans people but what enforcement there is in law to run an event peacefully. That is what business is concerned with.

Helleofabore · 16/08/2023 08:18

That is absolutely crap for Jenny.

I think it might have to go to court to force the issue.

fromorbit · 16/08/2023 08:08

UPDATE

Jenny has reported another venue has closed down a different lesbian meetup she organises this time after hosting them for 6 years. Homophobia in full swing in 2023. Though it seems the LGBA is getting ready to strike. Imagine they are taking their time, gathering evidence, getting their lawyers all in a line so the case is as strong as possible. It will help that the bigoted venues keep on exposing themselves publicly.

Get ready for some gardening if needed though don't be surprised if this never goes to court these places are relying on no-one being ready to challenge their hatred for homosexuality. They have no legal case lesbians are legally allowed to gather. Whatever happens we need to keep shedding light on this. This mass homophobia is going to peak a bunch more people.

So TW says these things happened, trust validated it. That's the extent of the evidence, yes?

Yes. Those of us who've been through the judgment with a fine tooth comb (several very long threads here) are somewhat sceptical of the complainant's version of events, shall we say.

Yes, iirc the allegations of name calling and the locker note suddenly and miraculously appeared only after the TW was made aware that women had complained that the TW behaving inappropriately in the change rooms.
No one was ever identified, even though the TW claimed to have heard multiple women who they worked with making comments.
My guess is that there were women who raised concerns and spoke out but what they actually said was so massively twisted and exaggerated, that it wouldn't have looked good if they got to speak for themselves about the likely very reasonable things they'd said.
I remember reading the details at the time and thinking, 'is that so'.

I read the link that @WeWillLookBack posted and then clicked on this one

WTAF?

Yes, I read this one too.
This part jumped out for me:

We’re all learning new things about ourselves all the time – that’s what growth and development is about.

It's me, me, me. Look outside yourself. Whole world out there. Obvs you can sleep with who you like (if you both / all want to). Doesn't need it's own special name. It's a bit ,,,, self-absorbed. Expected, and usually tolerated, in teenagers.

Waitwhat23 · 15/08/2023 16:25

I don't think it was that one - the one I'm thinking of specifically had the TW outraged that the women were choosing to change somewhere else.

Was it the thread where the transwoman was upset because the women in the office said they couldn’t use the tampons that were provided by the women in the female toilets? Was that one where the women decamped to a toilet on another floor?

In other cancellations it seems like Leith Arches have cancelled the comedy unleashed gig at the Edinburgh Festival. Complaints by activists on the opinions of comedians.

It appears to be as a result of complaints from TRA's that Graham Lineham is part of the line-up (only recently revealed - he was previously listed as 'special guest - cancelled comedian'). Leith Arches seems to be a relatively new venue - surprising they haven't learnt from The Stand's humiliating climb down.

It was "docile" Grin

I remember the batshit insistence that a 'lady dick' would have a very 'different mouth feel' than the dick on a male currently identifying as a man. 😖

I don't care, I do not do dick at all. This is not an experiment I will ever be participating in.

BellaAmorosa · 15/08/2023 16:33

Iirc, the trust behaved very badly to the women - verging on psychological abuse. And then betrayed them again by barely putting up a defence to the allegations.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/08/2023 16:33

I wouldn't doubt for a minute that these things were said. I've worked in the NHS for a long time and there are some disgusting attitudes and prejudice in the NHS. It is not ok to call people who've transitioned 'freaks' or 'trannies' or to leave anonymous notes in people's lockers or to chat shit behind a colleague's back. I find all that completely believable and completely horrible.

These allegations were extremely dubious.

Informing women that they are going to have male colleagues changing in a room with them because they have transitioned is a questionable thing to do and I wish that was seen as discriminatory against women. I have taken everything off in a women's changing room, that's what it's for, I have a few continence issues, though yes normally I would keep my pants on or go into a cubicle). It doesn't make the specific reaction of these women OK and I won't be on 'their side'.

I agree that it's not OK to use that sort of language or leave notes etc.

Informing women that males will be changing with them is more than 'questionable' though.

IcakethereforeIam · 15/08/2023 16:31

I think that was a post, possibly on reddit, from a tw in Norway.

Or, I need to stop eating cheese before bed.

Grimchmas · 15/08/2023 16:15

And for fucks sake, women who are getting changed for work don't go around without underwear on. Ever.

Grimchmas · 15/08/2023 16:14

"The authors of the notes and the women who made the offensive comments were never identified despite an investigation, however the trust admitted all three incidents happened."

Helleofabore · 15/08/2023 15:54

We recently had a poster berate women with the reassurance that males suppression their testosterone had reduced ‘sexual urges’ so were very much safer than males in general. Wouldn’t produce any evidence. Just told us to Google it. And never came back when we provided evidence of the unreliability of testosterone suppression, that males with lower testosterone don’t reliably have ‘reduced sexual urges from erectile disfunction studies and that there is evidence that males with low testosterone sometimes committed even worse sex crimes because of their frustration and a whole slew of evidence.

They couldn’t seem to accept either that males with trans identities just lurved their penises and also lurved getting them out for self published porn.

HirplesWithHaggis · 15/08/2023 15:54

Waitwhat23 · 15/08/2023 15:51

Slight tangent, but I'm getting a vague recollection of a TW who demanded access to a women's changing area and when the women began to use different facilities in preference, demanded that they be forced to use the facilities that the TW was using. I've got a feeling it was a workplace and the TW complained to HR?

It's all about the validation.

A hospital in Sheffield, maybe? Catering worker, not medical staff.
