I have intentionally not read the link to the Paper that Supported the Blackshirts, so apologies if this has been mentioned.

Are there actually any people born male who want to attend, or is it just someone thinking they are showing how supportive they are to trans people by objecting?

grow up

Can women really not have anything to themselves? Shocking - but the sunlight is welcome.

People need words to describe themselves clearly so there’s no confusion. Those words of course already exist but the original meanings have been blurred.

Let’s have some clarity.

Lesbians - women exclusively attracted to women.
Gay people - exclusively same-sex attracted.
Bisexual people - attracted to both men and women.

Those words need to be kept clear for people whose sexuality is based on sex/biology as opposed to being based on gender/identity, which is a social construct.

Those who are same-gender attracted are free to use (and have embraced) the term “queer”, which basically means anything goes. If I saw a sign for a Queer Dating Night I would expect trans people to be included. Not at a “lesbian” event though.

Oddly enough, I don’t think lesbians would mind being excluded from a trans-only event.

You may have "little knowledge and experience" of transmen, but you have zero of gay men if you think they won't be put off by a vagina. All the gay men I know would run a mile in the other direction rather than shag a transman.

For reasons I won’t go into, I know quite a lot of gay male paramedics/ambulance crew. If they ever have to deliver a baby they are fighting off vomiting just from having to be that close to a vagina. There’s absolutely no way they would go near one for fun!

I wouldn't go all in on the venue, it's a business. Making pubs reluctant to host is part of the idea. The organisers need to address the issue and they have.

Oh, I mostly agree, and from the article it seems that haven't made a decision yet.

I've emailed to point out that single sex lesbian meetings are perfectly legal under the equalities act, and that forcing lesbians to include men in their dating pool is homophobia, and discrimination. I haven't accused them of doing so, as I don't believe they have, yet.

What I didn't want to happen was fir them to have an onslaught of TRA contact, with nothing to balance it out. If they only hear from TRAs their likely to do what they want. Imo.

heathspeedwell · 13/08/2023 10:14

One of my best mates is a gay man. He's pretty popular and has a few hook ups a week. Like all my other gay male friends he's very open in saying that what he really likes is dick. There's no way in a million years that he or any of his mates would hook up with a trans man. At a push they might get together with a trans woman, in fact he says some gay men are quite into trans women. But not anyone who doesn't have a dick.

Funny how men are so able to be completely blunt about their preferences but women are expected to be kind and supportive and accommodating. They literally don't think our sexuality matters in the slightest.

Ms Watson, 31, added: 'Transgender individuals deserve respect. But there is a need for protection of sex-segregated spaces for lesbian women.'

such a reasonable view

how the heck have we got to a place where someone who says that gets 'reported' to her employer, basically for being a lesbian? homophobia never went away, did it?

How does one tell the difference between a genuine, and non genuine transwoman?

Sorry my post was unclear I do not believe anyone can change sex.

By genuine transwomen i mean someone who believes they are in the wrong body (I don't believe they are but can sympathise with them being unwell) Rather than someone attending a female only event with his erect penis on show through a latex suit. That person is trying to cause trouble @TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening

I did think it was going to be about her fancying trees but I just read the word wrong 😁

This is getting really silly. Lesbians want to meet other women. End of!

This article from 4W seems
relevant. The combination of “lesbian” porn and the “Be Kind” mentality encouraged their presumption.

https://4w.pub/these-men-were-promised-lesbians/

In a 2019 study, only 3.1% of straight (and non-trans) people were willing to date a trans person. Lesbians were more likely to be game, though it turned out that their willingness only extended to natal women. And in news that would have shocked not a single female – had any of us been consulted – it turns out almost nobody wants to date trans women.

Whose idea was it to tell heterosexual men that they could change their wardrobe and the world would see them as women? A non-exhaustive list: your local government, your government, your federalgovernment, your national broadcaster, theHER app, and your local arts centre.

She goes on to explain the reason why this big lie has been perpetrated is because transactivist went straight to politicians, uninterested in trying to win the hearts and minds of the public to get them on board.

The public aren't on board.

It's an interesting question, though. For a group who are very effective in changing rules and regulations, and shutting down opposition, what did they actually think would happen in the end? We don't live in a totalitarian state.

And public opinion will prevail in the end.

They knew they had to circumvent public opinion. How did they think it would actually carry on forever?

Who will date a trans person? | Fifteen Eighty Four | Cambridge University Press

In a recent study published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, 87.5% of the participants who were asked this same question only checked off the cisgender options and excluded transgender and non-binary individuals from their hypotheti...

@GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut what's the email address? Wouldn't hurt to have a onslaught of emails telling them how ridiculous this is. Also so sick of this shit.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 13/08/2023 09:53

This has really really riled me. I work for a stonewall diversity champion, fully captured, no debate.

I've just emailed the group that owns the pub to tell them how outrageous it is that they're 'investigating' a group of people for wishing to exercise their legally protected rights.

I only have one email address. I'm probably very traceable. But I have had enough of selfish priveledged MEN trying to wrestle hard won rights and protections from every other disadvantaged group they can think of. I'm sick of it.

xXJoy · 13/08/2023 09:45

That is so ridiculous isn't it. Men would never tolerate being told who they should date. A lot of men won't date a woman their own age and nobody can make them! So the idiocy of telling lesbians they're transphobes for not wanting penises......... give me strength

Grimchmas · 13/08/2023 09:39

@SamW98 because only TW would turn up and they know what we do - that TW don't want to date TW any more than lesbians do.

Anxioys · 13/08/2023 09:37

Does it matter? They are male. Being a lesbian means you are interested in biological women, not a photocopy

Grimchmas · 13/08/2023 09:36

In a world with as many sexual preferences as our alphabet soup, it's a bit rich that it's Not Allowed for people to have a preference that excludes trans identifying people.

You're allowed to exclude women, you're allowed to exclude men (*if you abide by some dodgy rules), you get a special alphabet letter and your very own flag for almost every special way you can think of to identify up to and including pony and rubber kink pride flags, but to say you are only attracted to people who think gender ID is bobbins, or whose gender expression is in alignment with their sex? Absolutely awful, you aren't allowed that.

It is useful to transwomen to state no transwomen at the event rather than just feeling rejected and perhaps not knowing why.

The man in the purple latex or the other man pressing against a women in the toilets do not sound like genuine transwomen looking for a date. I expect other events are on offer elsewhere.

Lesbians not wanting to date someone with a penis is not transphobic.

How does one tell the difference between a genuine, and non genuine transwoman?

Theeyeballsinthesky · 13/08/2023 09:30

does the fact they’re a man not clue them in at all?

I mean seriously they know full well they are male, they just couldn’t give af about women’s boundaries especially lesbians because everything is about them

SamW98 · 13/08/2023 09:29

Or maybe trans women start their own speed dating event and stop trying to gatecrash others enjoyment.

I would bet money those reporting the organiser didn’t even want to go, they just wanted to stop those pesky women having something of their own without entitled men.

These Men Were Promised Lesbians
