Yet more police idiocy.

This shows the arrest of a teenage autistic girl by about 5 police officers. From what I can make out it is for a 'hate' crime. She apparently said a police officer was a Lesbian. Her Nan is a lesbian - that police officer is like my Nan.

I cannot comprehend the mindset of these officers.

That’s a huge part of the rottenness at the core of so many police forces. They stick up for their colleagues no matter what.

They have deleted it on their fb page too and put up the new update with comments disabled. On a post about some missing teenagers people are commenting that it’s unsafe for girls to contact the police as they’ll be arrested.

Sadly they're not wrong either. This force is not fit for purpose. Any dealings with the police make sure you have your phone camera on. I still can't believe 7 officers and not 1 would speak up and say how out of order the whole situation was.

I would totally throw a wodge of cash at that. It's probably too much to ask of an autistic teen girl though, who no doubt is already traumatised by the situation and that it's received so much attention.

Of course this is how they get away with this behaviour.

I think there are some things the family could do (again with the caveat that not everyone is up for life consuming battles). If I was the Mum I'd be on the phone asking Paula McGowan for some pointers in forcing public services to admit to their mistakes and provide mandatory training.

Please contact them and tell them to have a hard word with their colleagues. They should be leading the way in condemning this publicly if they are in fact excellent.
