Wow. Equating it with anti semitism. Loved the thoughtful “whatever”. There says the privileged man.

He’s steering a new religion that’s far left and woke 🤷🏿‍♂️he’s more aligned with stonewall than Jesus he disagrees with Christ on most social issues

This

Quite.

The new gospel goes 'serve those we tell you without question or self interest, spit on those we tell you without hesitation or conscience, and we might let you have a bank account and health care. Embrace the glory of co dependency and meekly be a NPC in other people's lives'.

The scribes and the pharisees want you to join their club, and they're not even going to promise you heaven and some chance of a paradise reward at the end of it.

Soros junior, whose Dad funded Gender ideology, met the Pope the other day.

Spat out my tea!!! What?!!!

JanesLittleGirl · 07/07/2023 18:22

In other news Rev. Richard Coles has decided not to go ahead with his application to become a prison chaplain to avoid an interview about his sexuality with the Bishop.

I am grateful to a mn poster a month or so ago for the information that the Pope has spoken out frequently against gender ideology, and the cultural pressure being put on individuals, families, schools, churches who try to resist the redefinition of what it means to be human.

We wish he would speak on church issues

the reason why he can’t because he doesn’t believe in them

Yep my church is standing room only

loads of teens and young families if you don’t get their 20 minutes early you pretty much can’t get a Sunday school place and they have capacity for 80 kids

ButterCrackers · 07/07/2023 16:33

What has he got to do with politics? Answer is nothing. He needs to only speak on what he is qualified to talk about which is CofE religion.

Today is the anniversary of the birth of the sci-fi author Robert A. Heinlein, who presciently wrote:
It is a truism that almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so.

Really struck by that quote Biology, (thank you), so I looked it up- and I thought it's worth posting the longer version too!:

It is a truism that almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so, and will follow it by suppressing opposition, subverting all education to seize early the minds of the young, and by killing, locking up, or driving underground all heretics.

Honestly, he is a plonker.

I've spent much of my life working for the C of E, including in a senior role. What he says isn't the result of intentional misogyny, it's the result of the penny not dropping in the mind of a caring but overstretched man that 'persecuted' isn't a uniform category, and that the rights of different groups can be in conflict.

Many senior church leaders (of all traditions) are so guilty about the Church's historic attitude to gay people that they've swung to a 'just be kind and inclusive' default with everything to do with gender. It's the new mantra.

The blind spot here is that if you think 'transwomen are women' is the only kind position, this leads to the invasion of women's sports, prisons, refuges etc by anybody who claims to be a woman. It means you're siding with unhinged and violent activists against the hard-earned rights of biological women.

It's a real blind spot in the Church. Banging on about kindness, without realising kindness has been weaponised by crazies.

TodayInahurry · 07/07/2023 15:44

He is really nasty and pointless. How big are CoE attendances, in are area of older people only about 6 turn up. He does not seems to care. And he is clueless and out of touch about ‘refugees’. He needs to go

Welby is a Fool

A conclusion I came to a long time ago. He's one of the irritants of life.

DontYouThreatenMeWithADeadFish · 07/07/2023 15:29

Would love to know what the definition of an insult would be? Not showing enough deference? Misgendering the 6ft bearded bloke? Complaining that the 110kg transwoman has injured another woman on the rugby field?

JellySaurus · 07/07/2023 15:24

meowgender · 07/07/2023 12:59

Interesting analogy, given that anti-semitism has the same sort of problem as transphobia, in that accusations of such are used to silence people with dissenting views. For example, criticism of Israel's apartheid-like actions against Palestinians.

The hypocrisy of this statement!

How many times throughout the last 2000y have the Jews been told by people of other faiths "Believe this - or else!", "Behave this way - or else!" "Your beliefs are disgusting!", "You want children dead!" ?

QueenHippolyta · 07/07/2023 15:23

@DysonSpheres I'm actually a Greco-Roman pagan and perform rituals with men. I do my witchy stuff alone right now but if I get a group I'd easily tell the man to fuck off.
Transwomen (men) do not belong in Dianic women-only covens.

Men are dead afraid of women getting together and accessing our power.

DysonSpheres · 07/07/2023 15:15

He is the head of the church - a traditionally conservative organisation.

The Anglican church hasn't been truly conservative in this country for a long time. I am surprised by comments saying it is.

Now in other other countries latin America, parts of Africa it is conservative. But that's because the culture also has more conservative values. If the values in those countries shift. So will the church.

The Church of England in the UK has been getting increasingly liberal for years.

If you want conservative I have to to say I would only class the evangelical old order Calvinist, Methodist etc and the Catholic Church as such anymore.

In the religious news bulletins it is said Welby comes under pressure from within the HoL itself. Now, the Anglican church is the stabiliser state religion. Every church, even the muslims and hindus benefit from it not folding completely on this issue. Welby has to be seen to give a little whilst keeping the line. That's how serious it is and difficult the balance he has to keep is.

caringcarer · 07/07/2023 15:11

Unfortunately Welby has a big gob and can't keep it shut. He needs to stick to church issues and not poke his nose into political issues which he seems to not be able to do.

Patriarchal institution supports patriarchal ideology.
There is no such thing as 'God' and if there were, She would be female, because we are the life creators. Put that in your pipe and smoke it Justin.

This is why I'm a pagan witch and goddess worshipper.

Out of interest, what would you do if a man wanted to join you in moon salutations or something?

I was reading a review under a book on witchcraft on Amazon. There was a review from a transwoman complaining that the book wasn't inclusive because it didn't use pronouns making witchcraft only accessible to 'cis' women.

ThisTimeIts · 07/07/2023 15:02

The last most on page three mentioned witch -hunts then I look at the first post on page four from a witch.🤐😄

DysonSpheres · 07/07/2023 13:20

Sorry but whilst I understand the anger, I really do, this is a short sighted comment.

Saying that 'biological reality should be respected' isn't even been said by left leaning female MP's let alone the Archbishop of the Church of England.

It's not the Catholic church, it's far more in servitude to the state and has to be inclusive as far as possible so no. He cannot just come out with such a statement no matter what he may think privately.

He is the head of the church - a traditionally conservative organisation. He is very capable of having a backbone and saying it. Equally every female MP who fails to say it is pathetic when they have a moral responsibility to acknowledge reality.

Reality does not go away just because you don't like it. This is one of the most basic principles of liberal leadership. You don't pander to authoritarian dictates that undermine the truth. That's how you abuse power.

Saying men can be women and anyone who disagrees with that (for whatever reason) should be punished IS an abuse of power. There has to be a justifible reason to punish people. Otherwise you are either into state mind control or witch-hunts - both of which depart from liberal values of truth and justice. 'Being kind' is a two way thing too. If someone wants respect for belief they need to also respect reality too.

So no I don't buy any excuse from the head of the church of England for not only allowing it but also being part of the problem of injustice and abuse of power.

piedbeauty · 07/07/2023 14:14

redfacebigdisgrace · 07/07/2023 09:16

To add, of course no one should be bullied or insulted. However by saying I think a trans woman is a man am I insulting them? I bet they would say so. So therefore to state biological reality I am insulting them and University funding should be cut. Chilling.

Yeah, this is it. What's an insult defined as? If it's'i don't believe you can change sex', that's not an insult. If it's 'I hate Jewish people and they are to blame for everything', that is.
