Or rather their barrister does. The case somehow got as far as court without the police giving Caroline's representations to the barrister. Once he read them he declined to proceeed.

If I saw anyone calling anyone a pig I'd report it.

I have read every* post ALand saw none calling anyone a pig.

  • except most of the repetitive wallottexts, those are filed in the round drawer labelled TLDR (I can read 600 wpm+ and my time is too valuable to me to even bother)
SabrinaThwaite · 04/08/2023 11:09

As before, if anyone thinks an offensive comment has been made, report it to MNHQ.

Although it seems that there must be a very low bar for “grossly offensive” for anything on this thread (bar the troll posts which I didn’t see) to be deemed meeting that definition.

People do not have a right not to be offended.

DogsAkimbo · 04/08/2023 11:09

I’ve already got kids, not into being someone else’s mummy.

But it doesn't make the comments right in the first place does it.

No, it doesn't, which is why you presumably reported the posts and they were deleted. Would "grow up" be any more acceptable? OK, that's possibly expressing my frustration a bit more forcibly than if I was as mature as I'm asking you to be. But my sympathy for you wore thin some weeks ago, because of the repetitive hammering of a point you made clearly the first time.

going to answer this and only this:

So I should just accept being called a pig and being told to FOFF as well as other abuse then?*

no. You can report those posts. HTH

I was answering a post from DogsAkimbo.
i know the thread is not about me - i was answering their post.

SabrinaThwaite
Its not just 'talking'. It's when it drifts into 'offensive comments'.
And similar threats to women (Louise and Caroline) should be investigated.

DiabolicalFinial · 04/08/2023 10:50

FFS Felix, it’s not all about you! Please give it a rest, stop repeating yourself over and over - it is annoying, frustrating and honestly can feel as though it is trying to be intimidating/threatening. Just back off!

DogsAkimbo · 04/08/2023 10:50

Yes. It reminds me of my kids, when one is bothering and needling the other over and over and eventually the other snaps and says something less than kind. The ‘needling’ one is often somewhat more at fault.

SabrinaThwaite · 04/08/2023 10:47

It seems like ‘malicious communications’ is such a low bar for women talking on the internet.

Whilst actual stalking by men, and I’ve seen some of the nasty, stalkerish Twitter posts aimed at Louise and Caroline by one man in particular, seems low on the list of priorities.

So I should just accept being called a pig and being told to F* OFF as well as other abuse then?

And MNHQ should not have deleted these posts - event if it breaks their rules?

So is at acceptable for me to be just as abusive back then......?

The thread will just descend into a tirade of abuse to each other - on what is a very important issue on discussion.

So is that a case of 'one rule for me, another rule for everyone else'
You're correct - is is becoming a little clearer!

You’re not accepting it, you’ve told us many times, and MN has deleted the posts. Is there something else you need?

I agree - it is a very sensitive subject and I hope its resolved very quickly.

I have said that its a horrible situation for Caroline to be in and the length of enquiries just add to her stress.

And because i think its a very sensitive & important issue to discuss - I'm not sure why certain posters on here descend it into posting pictures of seals, desserts, cheese? Or deflecting by questioning my grammar & spelling but no one else is challenged. Or try to use a username in another forum which happens to be the same as mine and state that it must be me?

And I don't think being called 'a pig' and repeatedly being told to 'F* OFF' as well as another abusive comments on these threads can be seen as 'mild frustration'. Its borderline Malicious Communications and goes against the rules of the forum - which is why MNHQ deletes the posts.

Only one other poster came out and said calling me 'a pig' was wrong - so does that mean the others are complicit in this? Another poster agreed with the comment.

On threads in which such abusive online comments is seen as being unacceptable - why should I have to accept them being thrown at me as merely 'mild frustration'?

And there it is, sounds like we need to get the women here ‘policed’. Great that you’ve pointed it out and MN has deleted them. It’s becoming a little clearer.

visiting the website

Wish I could even find the farms!

Warning: thread derail

BTW, the Heterodorx - the fabulous Nina Paley and Corinna Cohn - have Joshua Moon as a guest on the latest number of their podcast. It’s interesting …

I’ve really come to enjoy Paley and Cohn for their banter and particularly Corinna Cohn’s courage - he really is “stunning and brave” and ferociously clever.

Also mentioned by the Heterodorx is the other double-gander podcast I’ve become a bit addicted to: Blocked and Reported. I sometimes worry that this gender extremist ideology has turned me into an intolerant old fogey but their intent reminds me that there’s always nuance.

Thanks @DogsAkimbo and @DrLouiseJMoody

It's absolutely unbelievable what Complainatron and PC Useful at Sorry Police are putting Caroline through. I look forward to this being shut down, and getting some clear statement from leadership of Sorry Police and the PCC about how this has come about and what lessons they can learn from it.
We simply cannot allow our precious and limited funds allocated to policing to be spaffed away harrassing someone at the behest of a malicious individual. We deserve better, the police can do better.

What @DogsAkimbo said. Given the profound invasion of our lives, we don't really want to listen to a man asking questions when we know the facts.

This morning, I've supposedly (I say supposedly since some dim-witted individuals think I'm a poster on another forum) been accused of fabricating stalking. I get it sounds like fiction, but when you've dealt with the individual(s) that me and some of my friends have, you realise that you've been plunged into an episode of the absurd. Don't believe me. Believe. I don't care. But I could do without being dragged into a dispute I don't quite understand. I'm here to update with what I'm allowed given my friend has been silenced by an inept force.

DogsAkimbo · 04/08/2023 09:57

The thing is Felix, and I know this has been said many times before, you’re on the Feminist board of a site mainly for women, and named accordingly.

The subject is a very sensitive one that has been impacting women’s lives, their careers, their bodies, their private spaces and relationships. It’s so difficult in fact, that there are very few places we can talk about it safely. In fact there have been times that even here our safety has been potentially compromised. You can see the types of issues that occur when you look at the subject of this specific thread. It may be theoretical to you but it’s very real for us. Some women here have been involved personally and deeply in this fight at some cost to themselves, and their families.

So when you come here, and say who you purport to be, and repeat yourself over and over, to women involved in this, then it’s not surprising that now and then you might be on the receiving end of some mild frustration. The women here are busy.

The device (the camera that the cop wears) is on a 30 second constant loop. So it records to itself on this 30 second loop, constantly overwriting itself after 31 seconds.

When I hit the 'activate' button it starts to 'record the data' as a 'saved' record. So the footage which will be marked as 'saved' will commence from 30 seconds prior to you hitting the button.

This 'saved' footage will stay available for 30 days. At the end of the shift the camera will upload this 'saved ' footage to a database when it is docked back at the police station.

This 'saved' footage will get uploaded to this database which keeps the footage for the 30 days. After this time it is automatically deleted.

If you want this 'saved' footage as permanent record (for a case file for example). You log onto the database and mark it as 'evidential'. This 'saved' footage then gets uploaded to another database as a permanent record - which agencies such as CPS can get access to.

You don't time travel - and on the previous thread another poster uploaded a link a BWV site which explained it.

AlisonDonut · 04/08/2023 09:26
  • I remember rightly he also had no idea how the bodycams worked. We had to explain it to him. No you didn't. You seemed to not understand the principle that it records on a 30 second loop. So that when you hit the 'activate' button, the footage which is saved is from 30 seconds before you hit the button. Lots of other people on that thread who use BWV (security, door staff) told you the same.*

No, you said it didn't record all the time and we said that it must record all the time otherwise how could it recall the previous 30 seconds footage without actual time travel.

You still don't understand our point. On so many different things.

Were back to focusing on spelling and grammar - OK, you might want to tell IwantToRetire the difference between 'know' and 'now', but I guess its just me you are focusing on.

The 'humanity' comment suggested that I had no humanity on this forum - yet others can call me names such as 'pig' etc. One other poster said it was wrong to do this, no one else did - so are the rest complicit to that kind of abuse? I'll let you watch your paint dry whilst you ponder that one.

IwantToRetire
I have never said 'the police are not at fault' If you look at 'Harrassment's' post I stated that "...This is clearly wrong and should be brought to light. I hope the cop involved was dismissed...." And have said similar on other posts which show where the police have failed. I have also suggested another thread about 'things wrong with the police force' and I will gladly contribute.

Just for info - we don't all sit together in a canteen and discuss all of our jobs. If we do get a break, the last thing we talk about is work. If we are to each talk about our personal crime queue, you will need a meal break of about 12 hours. You tend to find that you will grab a quick bite to eat as and when you can, usually on your own or with your crew mater if you're lucky to be doubled crewed.

LarkLane
What are you saying I don't know about custody footage and BWV footage? Its not kept indefinitely unless it is marked as 'evidential'. We don't have the storage facilities to do it for a start and it conflicts with Data Protection Rules.

colouringindoors
I tend to focus on police threads - I have given a list of recent threads I have been on. All about different hings, but generally police based as this is the filed in which I work. And if people don't understand things I will explain it to them or offer advice. Hence the nature of a discussion forum.

I don't need to know the software & hardware specifics of how its doing it - I just need to know that it does and how to operate it.

A paramedic doesn't need to know how the software & hardware of a defib works. If you drive a car, you don't need to know how the ECU communicates with the rest of the car. A doctor doesn't need to know the complexities behind a MRI scanner.

You just need to know what it can do and how to operate it. Same with a BWV

A page or so back he got himself all confused between the spelling of 'surely' and his own mis-spelling 'surly', and when I gently teased about his resulting phrase 'surly humanity' he started going on about abuse and all sorts. I couldn't be arsed responding as I had drying paint to watch.

Shostakovitch the allegations about abuse and so on, remind me of a somewhat costly legal case close to all of our hearts. It involved a certain bobble hat wearing golf fanatic who unsuccessfully attemped to make a similar claim.

Mr. Justice Nicklin in that case commented:
"For someone who complains about harassment, visiting the website on which this alleged harassment is posted is not altogether easy to understand"
