He's not @'d her but he's tweeted her comment piece in the Telegraph from last week:

twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1667297563719122945?s=46&t=WHoOZ_3Kv5G6-FyQuvE0LQ

Underneath, he's added an archived link and a comment, saying: "It is worth noting that kids who are same-sex attracted and/or autistic are the most vulnerable".

As he's has a lot of followers (140M or so), this means a lot more chance of the issues reaching a lot more people.

Previously this kind of thing would have risked being taken down on Twitter, so it's maybe a sign that #nodebate is gone/going.

Lordy don’t these journalists realise that if the only newspapers that will have them are right wing then they might just selling their souls for one area of opinion.

Because the left wing media has driven them away. Have you been living in a cave?

OnHerSolidFoundations · 23/04/2024 21:35

He could have posted a readable article!

BlessedKali · 23/04/2024 21:26

He bought twitter in in order to restore freedom of speech. Thats one of the most important things any human has done for humanity recently

An example would be the interview where Hadley Freeman was mean about Margaret Atwood.

Mean about how? What did she say?

It's a lot more than mean for your co-workers to bully you out of your job as happened to Suzanne Moore a the Guardian merely because she didn't agree with them.

There was nothing "mean" at all about the Atwood interview. Freeman asked her about how she squared the world she wrote about so lucidly in The Handmaid's Tale with also believing TWA-literally-W. Atwood stumbled a bit because it makes no sense and she knows it.

Some beardy bros and TRAs got the vapours over it. Quelle surprise, eh?

mastertomsmum · 10/06/2023 15:45

Ok, then I will tell it like it is. She wasted valuable interview time trying to push her own agenda.

Just like you're doing right now?

duc748 · 23/04/2024 18:07

He's one of the biggest arseholes on the planet, IFAIC.

Seriously what is it with the zombie threads today?

And X blocked the LGBTIQA+ Greens Twitter.

DevilinaCardigan · 12/06/2023 16:49

I think gender ideology is the new face of eugenics. Cross-sex hormones, SRS and puberty blockers serialise (or at least greatly reduce the fertility) of the neurodivergent and children who will probably be gay or lesbian. It’s horrific.

Sunlight, sunlight, sunlight.

I can't stand this "he's no friend to feminism" shite. Purity spirals help no-one.

What he is, is one of the most well known people on the planet, with huge reach and influence. And he's an enormously wealthy man so he can't be cancelled or told to shut up.

Well said

This is brilliant. It's a massive step to have Elon Musk behind this. He ain't holding back. Keep the pressure on Elon.

ResisterRex · 11/06/2023 22:08

Musk is not letting this issue go:

twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1667982248614739970?s=46&t=WHoOZ_3Kv5G6-FyQuvE0LQ

It's such a change from how Twitter was.

But why is Polly Carmichael still there? I asked this on another thread. She was a huge driver of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones at GIDS and worked with Susie Green. It really worries me...why isn't she gone?

Polly being a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

Which involves lots of good quality training that is very hard to get onto, but it is not and never will be medical training. Polly isn't the one who will be making medical decisions about how to treat repeated infections or osteoperosis or any of the other horrifying things some trans people get stuck dealing with as they start to go down the surgical route. She should have been one voice in a team of medics, at best, when it came to pushing treatment options.

Backstreets · 11/06/2023 18:51

Re: the discussion of Jackie Green's surgery, this is where I think the antipodean fruit farms have really done quite the service. I genuinely think that a decade or so ago people were so incredibly ignorant about the realities of SRS that they thought these patients were getting something close to functional. At the time I just thought "but how could that possibly work" without looking into it, and if I had I probably would have just found youtubers bragging about how happy they were with the procedure and how it was just like the real thing and thought "okay". The farmers' archiving and compiling these horrors of medicine may have been driven by an interest in the grotesque, but it has made the lie untenable.

Moonandstarz · 11/06/2023 18:45

This is brilliant & I believe it's true. There has been a huge pushback. The tide is turning. Pride is very muted & toned down this year also companies are seriously fearing the boycott culture so are rowing back on the wokeness😁

Summerhillsquare · 10/06/2023 09:53

He's no friend to feminists.

Why does that matter in the context of his sharing an important article to his millions of followers?

No-one outside of your own head is ever going to align exactly with every single one of your opinions across every aspect of politics, philosophy, economics, art, everyday life, etc.

If I only listened to people who already agreed with me on everything, I'd exist in a creepy echo chamber and never learn anything or grow as a person.

Lots of famous and celebrated physicists were probably misogynistic arseholes but it doesn't mean I'm going to refuse to acknowledge that they were correct about physics just because they were other things too.

SmartHome · 11/06/2023 13:17

I'd much rather Interact with Elon Musk than Susie Green or Polly Carmichael, that's for sure. Elon is pro free speech, doesn't block everyone that disagrees with him and, crucially, doesn't think it's perfectly fine to give dangerous off licence drugs to vulnerable and unhappy kids that stunt their growth in all ways.

I really don’t understand it. Polly Carmichael was GIDS, it was her service, what she said went. All those mentions in Hannah Barnes’ book about people being admonished for daring to question practice with “You made Polly cry”.

But she’s still there! All that was wrong with GIDS, her baby, came from her (and her pal Susie Green).
