I think this helps give another viewpoint to the "gay people are anti-trans" trope that is often used by the LGB-Alliance and Julie Bindel etc.

Lesbians often have to put up with harmful stereotypes that may deter them from coming out, and in recent years the "lesbians are anti-trans" is another stereotype on top of the existing ones.

Right, so what this article is saying is that ‘our side has libeled GC lesbians as anti-trans, and now we are going to beat you with the anti-trans slur that we have smeared you with, to claim the label we gave you is putting lesbians off coming out as lesbian’

That’s some insanely nasty thinking there.

LGB do not call themselves anti trans as they are not. You slur them with that.

@CoozudBoyuPuak, noone is being called "anti trans" or "transphobic" for who they do or don't want to sleep with.

I've never heard LGBA or JB use this 'trope'. Do you have any links?

Totally depends what you mean by the words "lesbian" "anti-trans" "transphobic"

Lesbian - does the word mean "a person with a female body, exclusively attracted to other people with female bodies" or "a person with a feminine gender identity, attracted to other people with feminine gender identities regardless of body type"

"Anti-trans/transphobic" - does it mean "hating someone, denying their validity as a person, wanting to deny them basic human rights" or does it mean "not wanting to participate in someone else's fantasy, and not being attracted to a body type that isn't included in ones own understanding of one's own sexuality"

If you don't define your terms, any article like this is meaningless.

Strangely the lesbians i know don’t want to sleep with men, don’t think men should be calling themselves lesbians and don’t care about whether society as a whole finds them to be ‘attractive’. I’ve never seen an article in Gay Times or elsewhere about gay men worrying about whether they are generally attractive. I wonder why there would be that difference?!

Depends on what you mean by anti trans. Pretty sure most lesbians don't want to sleep with transwomen (what with them being biologically male, or be told they are transphobic for being same sex attracted, so there's that.
