1 in 585 trans women are currently incarcerated for sexual offences

Thanks to the census data, we can now show that 1 in every 585 trans women and England and Wales are convicted sex offenders.

That compares to 1 in every 2500-3000 men and 1 in every 243000 women.

So which is it? Are trans women inherently more dangerous than men that don't identify as trans, or are men pretending to me trans in order to offend?

The answer doesn't actually matter. The same solution fixes both issues.

584 in 585 trans women are not convicted sex offenders.

LK1972 · 07/01/2023 15:57

Yes @RoyalCorgi, it does mean that transwomen are 400-odd times more likely to be sex offenders than women, which rather underlies the fact that transwomen are NOT women, doesn't it?

So next time anyone quotes TWAW at me I will thank the TRAs who insisted on the gender feelz question in the census and point out that TW are not only 5 times more likely to be sex offenders than men, but 400 times more likely to be so than women. I look forward to it Wink

Surely they’d want to be able to clearly distinguish between trans women and problematic men posing as them for nefarious purposes

Well they may want to now separate out, but I and many others will point out that for a very long time
People are who they say they are,
Twaw,
No one ever lies about being trans,

And it doesn't matter anyway, I want none of them in with women in our very very few sex segregated spaces.

Yeah their only one line of defence they could have used against this and when we tried to tell them they poo pooed the idea.

Well tough. They come under your inclusive 🌂🌂🌂 now so sorry, but this is trans just like the rest.

I think proper research needs to be undertaken into this issue. A third possibility is that the factors which contribute to sexual offending by males also increase the likelihood of gender dysphoria or AGP or other related paraphilias.

It would be foolish of TRAs to try to suppress such research, or to accuse anyone who wants to conduct it in good faith of transphobia, especially when the stats are so alarming. Unless there's research evidence indicating that sex offenders are more likely to be 'trans' (whatever that means) than the general population (i.e. it's the sex offending that's dominant or comes first, not transness) the assumption will always be that transwomen generally are more likely to be sex offenders or that criminals are attracted to transitioning to get more lenient treatment or make reoffending easier. Are there any criminologist already looking into this? The Census and MoJ figures should help any funding bids.

I'm not claiming this makes women feel any safer. It doesn't change the 1 in 585 figure and we still wouldn't know which trans-identified men are the predators (apart from the convicted ones) and which aren't.

picklemewalnuts · 07/01/2023 15:33

Poor old Apollo was too successful in their TRA logic!

Such stark differences cannot be explained or massaged away.

1 in 585 compared to 1 in 2500-3,000
1 in 2,500-3,000 compared to 1 in 243,000
And 1 in 585 compared to 1 in 243,000

Those figures are the headline and the article itself. Nothing else needed.

So, if I've understood it correctly, trans women are 415 times more likely to be convicted of a sex offence than the old-fashioned cunty kind of woman?

Jinglejanglesnowman · 07/01/2023 15:32

Well I'll be shouting this from the rooftops.

Well that's at least something new to write to my MSPs about. I don't have great hopes though as I have asked repeatedly whether the high rate of TW in prison for violent crime is because Self ID is fucking stupid being abused or if TW are just more violent answers there were none

You're unlikely to receive a meaningful, or honest answer to that. It'd mean that your MSP would have to review their ideology.

Yeah although for many it's less ideology & more the SNP "do as yer telt" issue.

One had a long conversation with me about the concern of basically making indecent exposure legal in women's changing rooms - he still fucking voted for it. OTOH he also told me that female prisoners were violent unlike the misunderstood & harshly sentenced male prisoners so "just thick" is also possible

if you stopped being weirdly defensive, you might actually think about this.

The numbers of sex offenders are very small percentages of the overall population. But there are big differences and surely you are curious about that.

We are talking between 0.03 and 0.04% of men. But about 0.17% of trans women. And only 0.0004% of women. The small numbers do not point to trans women being dangerous in any absolute way. But currently imprisoned sex offenders are vastly over represented among self-identified trans women. Even compared to men as a group.

There are lots of potential reasons why this might be the case. Just shouting ‘bigot’ doesn’t help understand it in any way.

I thin you've misunderstood the post

HopRockers · 07/01/2023 15:02

Yes I hope the Sunday papers make hay

Yes it's good to have the data to back up letters to MPs etc.

MajesticWhine · 07/01/2023 14:31

This is so interesting. And absolute vindication for everyone expressing concern about the Scottish gender recognition bill. I hope to see something in the Sunday times about this.

SweetSakura · 07/01/2023 14:28

MrsOvertonsWindow · 07/01/2023 14:24

Worth repeating this. That loophole in the DBS system that trans organisations argued successfully for that undermines child safeguarding - just as SweetSakura demonstrates.

Yes it horrifies me that we have all these safeguarding rules and yet sex offenders could slip through all the checks by deciding to identify as female

MrsOvertonsWindow · 07/01/2023 14:24

SweetSakura · 07/01/2023 14:11

Doesn't surprise me. My concerns about this issue began some years ago after a colleague did a DBS check which revealed the woman who had applied for a volunteer role (with children) was actually a convicted male sex offender. And a less observant person might not have spotted the very recent date of the birth certificate and asked for more information.

There are no stats that show TW pose any danger to women......unless you pesky vipers collate it. Honestly is there no end to your bigotry.

Where do you get this nonsense from?
Do you understand statistics, ratios and percentages, or are you too busy hating women to concentrate?

onyttig · 07/01/2023 14:16

FlirtsWithRhinos · 07/01/2023 14:10

@onyttig I think Apollo441 was satirising TRA logic

Ah. It’s hard to tell.

Which says quite a lot about TRA logic.

in any case. They should be curious about it. Very curious.

BethDuttonsTwin · 07/01/2023 14:14

Further to my post, go do a deep dive yourself, if you can stomach it. You’ll get to the point where you’re utterly unsurprised to read they later transitioned in prison. More like surprised when they haven’t!

BethDuttonsTwin · 07/01/2023 14:13

Well I didn’t know the figures but one thing I noted years ago was just how many vicious/serial murderers of women seem to have fetishes around women’s clothing and often later “transitioned”. It’s been as plain as the noses on our face that there is a significant correlation statistically, but we weren’t allowed to acknowledge it, which frankly is terrifying in itself.
