Important new initiative for government workers. This is where a huge fight back is going to happen in behind the scenes government, in memos and meetings. If we don't win in the civil service, it doesn't matter how many demos or cases we win, how many twitter threads we write, sooner or later sex differences will be erased. If you work in government/public sector get involved asp.

seen-network.uk/

"We are happy to announce the launch of our new UK cross-government staff network, the Sex Equality and Equity Network.
SEEN is a staff network committed to promoting and supporting sex equality and equity between women and men in our workplaces, and helping all staff to thrive at work and fulfil their potential. The focus of our network is on challenging sex discrimination and upholding rights and protections that relate to sex (including the protections provided to those with the protected characteristics of sex, pregnancy and maternity and sexual orientation, as set out in the Equality Act 2010). We recognise that to achieve this and ensure sex equality and equity sometimes requires treating women and men differently, according to our different rights and needs.

We are also committed to the protected belief (covered by the protected characteristic of religion and belief in the Equality Act 2010) that biological sex is binary and immutable, that biological sex matters for both women and men in our everyday lives, including for our rights and needs in the workplace, and that biological sex must not be conflated with, or replaced by, the concepts of gender or gender identity."

Funding is growing nicely - civil servants draft laws, it is important to all of us that some are prepared to stand up for women. I'll be getting my spade out too.

Planted some veg. I’m currently outside the CS, but this is still really important to me.

GerbilsAllTheWayDown · 08/08/2024 20:54

Planted a carrot!

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 08/08/2024 20:23

TL:DR is: good news is that the specific case against the chair of SEEN has been withdrawn but the bad news is that there's still a case against the government department.

If that case succeeds there will be serious consequences for SEEN, for SEEN members and GC expression, and possibly again for the chair herself. Gardening is needed so that SEEN is represented in the case.

I have gardened.

PriOn1 · 08/08/2024 20:14

Thanks. I’ll have a look.

*Duemmer Wrigley, too late to edit

@PriOn1 it was Elspeth Dummer Wrigley's latest update on her litigation on behalf of SEEN, I think it must have been deleted as its on the crowd justice site, if you Google her name though it can be found easily.

PriOn1 · 08/08/2024 19:59

Oh no, @FuriousBroccoli I don’t know what you wrote or linked to, but is it something that can be rephrased or referred to with info on how to search for it?

Good news at the end of the article: "On Sunday night, a government source said: “The current funding arrangements for a:gender will cease with effect from April 1 2024.”

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 21/03/2024 11:15

The crowdfunder has met its initial target. Quick work!

Scientistranswidow · 20/03/2024 17:52

@teawamutu I'm sorry, but there are more of these cases coming along every day: Lizzy Pitt, Kevin Lister and others. I call my payments to these cases my "GC tax", which I pay because the alternative is unthinkable. Thank you!

Oh I think that came out wrong - I also donate and regard it as my form of activism (work in v captured place).

I'm sick to fucking death of women being persecuted for telling the truth. I'll keep donating till it stops happening but WHY IS IT STILL HAPPENING?

£28k now. Including a shovelful from me. I am so done with this shit.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 20/03/2024 09:12

The "a:gender" network gets government money while the rest of us pay to be gender critical. The SEEN crowdfunder has 26K already and rising. I'm not even a civil servant.

WellHereWeGoNow · 19/03/2024 21:45

I hear the odious “a:gender” network have now had their funding cut. The fact they were getting such an amount of tax payers money for so many years though needs an immediate investigation though in my opinion

They got £82k for one year. Why?! And who signed that off?

SEEN civil servants have been asked not to leak the letter.

It is an excellent letter. The authors are articulate and sure of themselves in their pushback against TRAs and fear. It is a letter to copy and keep, because bits of it will be useful, I think. Congratulations!

Anyone got a copy of the full letter?

A damning letter from SEEN in the civil service about the levels of fear and intimidation created by a small number of powerful transactivists and their ability to undermine government initiatives despite their lack of democratic power:
Well done to all of you tackling this Flowers
