I mean, the people slagging me off are just displaying cognitive dissonance.

There is absolutely no doubt in fair minded people 'who' is pushing gender-critical ideology.

It is a far-right political target.

Maybe not 5 years ago, but it 100% is today.

There are people arguing that Matt Walsh understands what a woman is, more than the majority of women on every survey that supports trans rights.

And there are people on here reading this, that will throw their weight behind Matt Walsh, rather than women like Stella Creasy who is literally trying to make misogyny a hate-crime.

The fact that so many people on here fall into that, is because far-right radicalizing propaganda is what pushes Gender-critical agitators.

The fact that radicalized people push back against the idea they are radicalized, is neither here nor there, thats a feature, but when you are being told it from multiple sources and multiple feminist sources, it's time to wake up and smell the coffee.

Unless you actually are a far-right political agitator, then maybe you havent been radicalized, you are part of the radicalization process.

It is beyond obvious all gender-critical groups contain both these elements within.

“Gender traditionalists” believe that sex is real AND that men and women should have distinct social roles based on gender stereotypes.

Transphobic trolls like to harass and insult trans people, usually based on their appearance.

Neither group is GC, although some trans activists are desperate to persuade people that they are.

babyjellyfish · 16/06/2022 12:45

Why don't they get that not everything is supposed to be inclusive of everyone?

Why don't they get that a lot of us no longer want to be an "ally" of people who don't believe we should be allowed to have a word for ourselves, or any single sex spaces? Why would I be an ally of people who don't respect my identity, my rights or my boundaries?

mrshoho · 16/06/2022 12:43

The motion also encouraged the negotiation of inclusive language in local government agreements and policies, urging branches to promote the fact sheet ‘why pronouns are important’ and ask employers to adopt a policy that allows all staff to have their pronouns on name badges, ID cards and email signatures.

Ms Prashar said: “You don’t have to be trans to fight for trans rights, you can be a trans ally. We have a new training programme on being a trans ally and are rolling it out across branches and regions.”

Fuck that

Tanith · 16/06/2022 12:23

I wish they fought as hard for women as they do for trans women. We’d see less discrimination in the workplace if they did.

Another organisation being deliberately destroyed from within, to the detriment of the worker members who need them to do their job and represent their interests.

DialSquare · 16/06/2022 12:17

My Dad was a Shop Steward. He still believes that sex is real.

Beamur · 16/06/2022 12:10

Unison have been sucked in by the same lazy tropes about right wing funding etc.
You really don't have to look very hard to see that's probably quite accurate in a US context but not what's happening here.
I wish trade unions would just stick to doing their core business and responsibilities and take a step back from virtue signalling.

babyjellyfish · 16/06/2022 12:04

@SunbowRainshine31 Do you realise that we no longer have words to describe biological sex in humans?

DeaconBoo · 16/06/2022 11:48

Oh I get it, sorry - you think we are pretending that sex is real.

I'll leave it at that, then, if that's your genuine belief and that there is no such thing as sex.

DeaconBoo · 16/06/2022 11:45

Unison quite rightly points out transphobia is used as a far-right recruitment tool via propaganda.

I've yet to be recruited to the far (or indeed, centre) right, so they can't be working very well.

I can't understand what you mean by "pretend transphobia and bigotry, is just ... 'sex is real'". Could you rephrase it so it makes sense, please @SunbowRainshine31 ? I definitely don't claim that 'transphobia is "sex is real"' - quite the opposite.

babyjellyfish · 16/06/2022 11:35

SunbowRainshine31 · 16/06/2022 10:22

Unison quite rightly points out transphobia is used as a far-right recruitment tool via propaganda.

One angle of which is to pretend transphobia and bigotry, is just 'legitimate concerns' or 'sex is real' whilst fearmongering and demonising trans people, especially trans women.

This forum responds with the EXACT same far-right propaganda, fearmongering, and demonising trans women, unison are pointing out.

You know, anyone would think Unison was bang on the money here.

They so blatantly ARE.

Do you not think people's concerns about single sex spaces are legitimate then?

Really?

Karen White? Laurel Hubbard? Lia Thomas?

Nothing to see here?

Waitwhat23 · 16/06/2022 11:17

Lorna Slater made a similar claim that feminist groups are being funded by 'far right fundamentalist groups' but such a claim was found to be utterly baseless through a FOI to the Scottish Government. No retraction or apology has been made so far. It's a childish tactic by TRA/MRA/incels - repeat a claim, against all evidence, until those unable to exercise any sort of critical thinking take it as an absolute truth.

It's a bit like the TWAW mantra. Extremists can repeat it as often as they like in an attempt to brainwash impressionable people. Still doesn't make it true.

ControversialOpening · 16/06/2022 10:46

One angle of which is to pretend ... 'sex is real' whilst fearmongering and demonising trans people, especially trans women.

I admit it. I pretended that 'sex was real'. Please forgive me.

Also, as always, I'd request that you highlight some of this "far-right propaganda, fearmongering, and demonising trans women" you claim to have seen on this thread.

RhubarbCrumbled · 16/06/2022 10:36

I've just cancelled my Unison membership and given them the full reason why. They're sending me the complaints procedure so that I can send extended information too.
I'm so flipping ANGRY!!!

mrshoho · 16/06/2022 10:28

Hope you are reporting the transphobia and bigotry posts you see then @SunbowRainshine31 . I don't see any?

They are the union for Early Years and nursery workers.

Floisme · 16/06/2022 08:58

You would think that a UK trade union would at least show some basic awareness of the employment tribunals for Maya Forstater, Allison Bailey, James Esses and Jo Phoenix, all happening under their noses while they witter on about the USA.

TitInATrance · 16/06/2022 07:41

I was a rep, retired member.
Not surprised but particularly disappointed in Unison who were always a particularly pro-woman union.

However, I am aware of two TW in my former workplace who did pass to anyone they hadn’t outed themselves to - so whilst GC I am a little bit conflicted.

KittenKong · 16/06/2022 07:34

So they have green lighted any male to go after anyone (mostly women) who don’t chant the mantra, who object to mixed sex loos/changing rooms/showers etc, who don’t use the demanded pronouns, say ‘guys’, looks at them ‘funny’. So they are now going to spend effort demanding maternity/menopause rights for everyone, demand companies give time off for ‘gender’ stuff etc etc etc.

mrshoho · 16/06/2022 07:21

I'm flouncing out of there today!

JacquelinePot · 16/06/2022 07:17

Next motion on the agenda: the earth is flat, the sun revolves around it and the moon is made of cheese.

Wtf are they playing at?!

NothingIsWrong · 16/06/2022 06:58

I'm eligible to join unison and has been dithering. Not going to bother now I think!

mrshoho · 16/06/2022 06:43

Ffs I'm a unison member. The safety net for my work in a SEN school. I've never had to contact them personally but they were helpful in guiding us during a TUPE transfer/academy takeover. I want to cancel my membership now.

Selkiesarereal · 15/06/2022 22:42

I read an article recently which I will paraphrase as follows:

Unions should be sticking up for the rights of all workers, not get sucked into this divisive subject, this plays into employers hands of divide and conquer, workers shouldn’t be hounded out of work by believing that sex is real, etc.

And what fat right publication this was in - The Morning Star. Union’s should wake up soon before they become completely obsolete they need to represent their members as otherwise they will leave.
