'Women who oppose plans to make it easier to change gender have given a platform to “fascists who want to eliminate trans people”, according to the head of Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre.

Mridul Wadhwa, 43, a trans woman who was appointed chief executive in May, accused those protesting against the Gender Recognition Reform Bill of legitimising far-right discrimination of trans people.'

What could be more racist than ensuring the poorest women in society no longer have access to women-only services?

@Lifeinthelastlane

Whadha surely brings daylight to this issue every time they appear in print. Many people will still be shocked to read that the head of a rape support group is a transwoman. And then they read later that this is someone who opposed rape victims being able to choose the sex of the person who examines them.
And a transwomen who revealed that status, according to a poster on here. More recently, Wadhwa applied for a job reserved for a female.

I just think of Rik from The Young Ones when I see criticism like this, it's pathetic and all they have.

Many thanks for the share token. The comments are having none of it. Some very forthright views expressed.

I can't find it but what was the recent thread (about the Holyrood protests?) that had a photograph of SNP figures addressing a meeting (they were standing on the roof) with another speaker who'd been prominent in/associated with PIE?

Wasn't Mridul Wadhwa trying to work towards a senior position with SNP until early this year?

It is also interesting that some trans activists fully believe that if what they think deviates from what they understand is the activist line of thought, they might be aligning with far right.

Whoever started this ‘you are all aligned with far right’, has done such a successful job of creating this fear it does seem to keep any free thinkers firmly in line. It must be exhausting.

But it has fostered and furthered the ‘all or nothing’ approach to reality as well.

The hypocrisy of MW’s appointment to a rape crisis centre that was started by feminists for women and stating that they are even going to redefine (rewrite) the centre’s history is glaringly obvious.

They really seem to hate women, and particularly those who they cannot control the thoughts and actions of.

PronounssheRa · 16/09/2021 07:49

This is all they have, baseless fear mongering nonsense. Fling enough shit around and hope some of it sticks.

If they had a good argument they would use it, but they haven't

Helleofabore · 16/09/2021 07:47

Every time I see someone using the far right association as means to prop up their weak arguments, I think the only answer is to remind them of who is directly involved with their movement. Starting with the violent protestors that keep popping up (Not just in the UK where women are punched, their meetings drowned out by violent behaviour, smoke grenades let off near Grenfell tower, but France as well), the threats to women, the councilor’s who supported removal of single sex spaces who are in prison or awaiting trial for sexual crimes, the prominent trans people and their quotes which show exactly how they view females and hate females.

These are people directly involved in the movement that we are told has no impact on women’s rights at the same time as this particular activist resigned from their political party because the vote for allowing women to choose the sex (not gender) of the person conducting intimate examinations after rape didn’t go the way they wanted. This particular activist who was a senior staff member at the time in a Crisis centre and went on to become the CEO of the Edinburgh RCC.

Amazingly, MW is a clear example of who trans activists should be concerned about being aligned with. But then, maybe those using the far right as a means to discredit think this person’s behaviour is just the support female rape victims needs, which says a great deal about them really.

Being quoted on something you know is a lie isn't a good look.

gncq · 16/09/2021 06:39

Well these twattish comments only give more sunlight don't they. At least FWS were quoted in the article pretty neatly discrediting every word.
