I'm really pleased to be able to finally launch this new website:

www.transwidowsvoices.org/

Some of you were kind enough to deploy your spades to enable its creation. All of the funding has been provided by feminists such as yourselves.

This is a site owned by trans widows where women will be able to tell their stories. There is a huge need for this to counter the one sided "stunning and brave" narrative that is the only story told by the media.

There are four stories on the site so far and more stories will be added as we receive them. We also hope there will be some exciting guest blogs.

I think I can risk speaking for all the trans widows here when I say, thank you so much to @MNHQ for continuing to have us and to and all FWR supporters for enabling us to get this far. Smile

Great job, looks lovely too. I think the 'leave now' button is a genius idea (and possibly a very helpful piece of advice!).

I hope it brings much needed relief to women feel alone and much needed understanding to anyone swayed by the 'brave and stunning' narrative.

The trans lobby are terribly keen on lived experience, self-definition and the supreme importance of how trans people feel. Oh, and equality and fairness and respect. But none of that applies to others.

It doesn't even apply to people who are trans unless they are politically obedient to the lobby.

I see no one has yet actually had the guts to say they object to hurt female people sharing their lived experience. Or why.

TinselAngel · 23/03/2020 18:52

Seems to be hitting a nerve, doesn't it?

People can't bear hearing how it really is. The trans lobby are terribly keen on lived experience, self-definition and the supreme importance of how trans people feel. Oh, and equality and fairness and respect. But none of that applies to others. Women in this position have been silenced for long enough, hence the website. Hard to swallow I know...

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/03/2020 16:27

Trip trap, trap trap...

Michelleoftheresistance · 23/03/2020 16:05

Ghastly in what sense? Are you objecting to the web design? Or is it ghastly to hear women's voices and experiences in your opinion?

PertEllaTitsahoy · 23/03/2020 16:02

Thanks for bumping the thread though, not so friendly friend!

rednsparkley · 23/03/2020 15:59

What an unfriendly not friend you really are. This website is a badly needed beacon of light for those women otherwise silenced by the ghastly bullying trans narrative

Be off with you - back under your rock!

I'm very lucky that my web designer friend will work for me, for cheese 🧀, however given she reached the top of that mountain we're not supposed to talk about recently, it's good for her to have a focus for the rage!

I got enough money to run the site for two years, and a bit left over (because people wouldn't stop donating after the target had been reached, I had to turn donations off!). I shouldn't need any more money for a while unless some other idea of diversification comes to me. Smile

The spare money will be carried over to year 3, otherwise.

The site is amazing. Please do post if you need more financial support for this, I am glad to contribute.

nettie434 · 22/03/2020 14:49

Congratulations Tinsel and all involved. It is great to think there is a resource for women in this situation.

FannyCann · 22/03/2020 07:50

Well done Tinsel It's a really professional website, I hope it will be an important resource for women in this situation. The "other" story needs to be heard and understood, women need their voices to be heard.

SophocIestheFox · 22/03/2020 07:34

That’s a fantastic resource, tinsel, many congratulations on it, it will be invaluable to many women.

AnyOldSpartabix · 22/03/2020 07:07

Brilliant Tinsel. Wishing you success with it. A much-needed resource.

BovaryX · 22/03/2020 06:40

That is really impressive TinselAngel especially in the face of this 'stunningly brave' narrative which is adopted by swathes of the media without question or critical analysis. Great job.

TheBewildernessisWeetabix · 22/03/2020 00:15

I am so pleased that you did this.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 21/03/2020 23:31
