As Olenna pointed out: Someone who is unable to comprehend basic information regarding safeguarding. Someone who always needs to be accompanied for difficult conversations was standing for deputy leader of the Green Party

The same person who, earlier this year after the revelations about DC came out, boasted in an interview:

I am taking a break definitely, but equally I'm a trans person publically notable and that won't wash away. That doesn't just stop at the drop of a hat. I'm quite lucky, I'm 20. I've contested elections at local and national level. I've been involved in global politics. I've been an expert at the Oxford Union. I've done so much in such a short timeframe. I don't think I'm going to live a boring life. Theres still so much more to be done. I've got so much time. And I'm still going to be speaking out loudly for Coventry, for Coventry's residents, for LGBT equality as a member of Stonewalls Trans Advisory Group and on other matters. I've always enjoyed speaking out for what I believe in. Standing up for what matters. And I'm going to continue to do that. Just clearly not under the Green Party banner.

That speaks to me of a) a quite staggering level of self-delusion and self-aggrandisement;
b) hyper-woke organisations so painfully keen to scramble onto the bandwagon that they'd promise the world on a platter to this person in return for having them as a figurehead (an EXPERT at the OXFORD UNION?? FFS); and
c) truly grotesque levels of dysfunction in said organisations.

I can't actually convey how appalled - and frightened for the future of the institutions that are supposed to regulate our public life - this whole debacle has made me feel.

Here's Aimee Challenor writing for Liberal Democrat Voice about how Mermaids helped her to circumnavigate medical professionals

WIthin the article is demonstration of Aimee Challenor, Sarah Brown, Zoe O'Connell and Helen/Mimmymum from Mermaids (amongst others) use of power as influence.

@KataraJean

I remember at the time a few Mumsnetters emailed Scouts to check whether Baloo had continued volunteering during his trial. They never got a reply, I believe.

R0wantrees · 12/01/2019 08:53

I’ve also never seen AC campaign on green issues

Its about personal power
Green issues by definition are rooted in altruistic principles.

The need for it, aquiring it, using & misusing it
It predates The Green Party eg the hacking, Mermaids campaign.

See also TFL complaint which led to ceasation of the announcement 'ladies & gentlemen'
See terf blocker, control of BBC, use of party, police & courts etc

'AngryBird' founder of TransOxford who is transsexual condemned TRAs "shameful campaign of bullying & intimidation" against the women attending Oxford's WPUK meeting last year.
In her statement she said,
'Last night the bullied became the bullies'

Prof Michael Biggs (Oxford) also wrote about attempts to prevent and disrupt the meeting and women's right to assemble. He concluded,

(concludes)
"I have entered this debate not because I am a feminist but because freedom of speech is one of the highest values of a democratic society, and the basic foundation of university life.
Transgender activism poses a grave threat to freedom of speech. I think of the young MPhil student who had to disguise herself to attend this meeting because she feared the reaction of fellow students. This is the generation that we have educated."

KataraJean · 12/01/2019 08:50

I read the full report last night.

Has anyone established whether DC continued to work with the cub scouts after his arrest and bail? This association is mentioned in the report, but Verita seem to have only contacted Coventry Pride. The safe-guarding risks regarding his involvement with the Cub Scouts seem enormous. I do recall it being discussed on here last year, but was there any outcome?

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 12/01/2019 08:20

Waidda minute: is that how they are biologically? How bigoted! They need to identify as a one-legged, blind, pigeon fancier or the deal is off.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/01/2019 08:16

So why not have a one legged, blind, pigeon fancier officer?

ReflectentMonatomism · 12/01/2019 08:12

Never mind AC, do the Greens campaign on Green issues? The last few things I have read from
Their role MP have been about trans issues affecting about 0.001% of the population.

Bowlofbabelfish · 12/01/2019 08:04

I’ve also never seen AC campaign on green issues.

Like madigan, they use their position to campaign solely on trans issues.

Neither are fit for office.

PilarTernera · 12/01/2019 07:36

If Amy had been a normal 19-year old they wouldn't have stood a chance.

It's tokenism, all about appearances and obviously nothing to do with political skills or experience.

Terfing · 12/01/2019 07:24

Someone else put it best when they said that the Green Party are the real transphobes here. They are the ones who knowingly promoted a 19-year old purely because they was trans. They knew that Aimee had zero experience, skills, and so forth. If Aimee had been a normal 19-year old, they wouldn't have stood a chance.

OlennasWimple · 12/01/2019 01:29

Also the fact that AC is fully aware of the identity of DC's victim and actively made the decision to build a relationship with DC

That's one thing I won't hold against AC, actually, as I believe DC's influence to be so malign as to amount to grooming AC.

QuietContraryMary · 12/01/2019 01:25

Also the fact that AC is fully aware of the identity of DC's victim and actively made the decision to build a relationship with DC.

OlennasWimple · 12/01/2019 01:15

Can we just pause and consider the fact that until DC was convicted, AC was preparing to run as Deputy Leader for the Green Party Shock

Someone who is unable to comprehend basic information regarding safeguarding. Someone who is always needs to be accompanied for difficult conversations (I know it's best practice to have a companion at any disciplinary hearing, but I've never heard of that companion taking over from them if the individual concerned needs to leave the room). Someone who does not seem able to think through the wider implications of an issue. Someone who is only concerned with the thing that impacts them.

Leaving aside their age, kinks and disability, how the fuck could anyone ever think that this person is Deputy Leader material?

Datun · 11/01/2019 22:57

Who knew the chief executive of the NUS is also a trustee of Stonewall? A rogue trans in Stonewall & a rogue trans/non-binary in NUS. Bit of a Lady Bracknell moment?

Who is also a good friend of Julie Bentley, erstwhile head of the girl guides.

Rose of Dawn's recent video in which she suggests that the NUS Trans19 conference at the end of the month may reveal the NUS' outcomes of the investigation into the allegations against Jess Bradley.

Bradley was suspended as NUS TRans officer in July following allegations including 'flashing'

Additionally, Action For Trans Health are investigating separate allegations against Bradley which predate the NUS focus.

It will be interesting to see if the NUS & Action For Trans Health understand Safeguarding, their responsibilities & demonstrate accountability

SlightAggrandising · 11/01/2019 20:35

Ratking

TimeLady · 11/01/2019 20:30

It's the charity gravy train merry go round in action.

Like the CEO of Girl Guides, Julie Bentley, who moved on just as the shit hit the fan awkward questions started being asked last year too.

Jess Bradley explained in their contribution to the book, 'To My Trans Sisters'
edited by Charlie Craggs (publ Oct 2017)

"The first time I changed the world was when I told my mates to call me she rather than he. I literally constructed a new world where its possible to understand myself as a genderqueer woman, despite being asigned male at birth simply by changing the language to describe myself. This is why language and pronouns are so important. Its about creating a world in which trans people are allowed to exist"

"And I can honestly say that the work that trans people do for each other means that, for me at least, the trans community is a beautiful place to be. Despite our differences, we have each others' backs"

the book is described:
"Dedicated to trans women everywhere, this inspirational collection of letters written by successful trans women shares the lessons they learnt on their journeys to womanhood, celebrating their achievements and empowering the next generation to become who they truly are.

Written by politicians, scientists, models, athletes, authors, actors, and activists from around the world, these letters capture the diversity of the trans experience and offer advice from make-up and dating through to fighting dysphoria and transphobia.

By turns honest and heartfelt, funny and furious or beautiful and brave, these letters send a clear message of hope to their sisters: each of these women have gone through the struggles of transition and emerged the other side as accomplished, confident women; and if we made it sister, so can you!"

Ok thanks. I was going by his bio on Stonewall which obviously hasn't been updated.

Popchyk · 11/01/2019 20:23

His tenure seems to have coincided with a sharp downturn in the NUS's financial stability.

TimeLady · 11/01/2019 20:20

Looks as though Simon Blake left the NUS in October 2018

mhfaengland.org/mhfa-centre/ceo-blog/simon-blake-first-day-in-the-office-blog/

Didn't bother sticking around to sort out the Jess Bradley mess, it seems.

AC stated: "Thankfully there is no evidence that anyone was close to harm as a result of their contact with the Green Party".

Proving yet again that AC doesn't even begin to understand what actually happened.
