AC's Green Career
It was frustrating being in a party where members joined to promote a particular hobby horse and showed no interest in environmental matters. But that's democracy for you - any member could propose a policy to a Conference where only the time-rich retired or time-rich-and-subsidised students, could attend all the days.
The interest group that took their trans hobbyhorse to another level were LBGTQWERTY. Mostly Young Greens.
It was very noticeable that Conference after Conference saw at least one self-interested trans policy proposal from AC's mob. Ames is a one-trick pony and (probably, rightly) steered well clear of things involving science and evidence.
It amused me to think that Ames' mob would have to talk to people who were more interested in bins and bus stops than trans oppression, when canvassing in the ward.
Real life can be a come-down, can't it?
