This is really, really disturbing:
mobile.twitter.com/cwknews/status/1022394312556990465

This isn't sensible NHS doctors who are training or advising professionals to do this, based on firm evidence.

This is adult transactivists such as this transwoman:

mobile.twitter.com/cwknews/status/1022397462114443265

Hasn't Tara Hewitt also been attacking the NHS GIDS clinic currently, for trying to have an evidence-based discussion?

Recent thread with contributions from many working in education:

OP imwideawake asked:
(extract)
"I wonder what Head Teachers, teachers (and anyone else involved in the nurturing and educating of our young people) are really thinking about the worrying way in which activists have turned their attention to children and have successfully infiltrated the school system, to the point they seem to be having having a very real and disturbing influence on young impressionable minds and their bodies.

What do they make of this mass bombardment of our children - encouraging children to go down the trans route, instead of leaving them be - to dress and behave how they want to, and to grow up with minimal interference to their minds and bodies.

The constant scaremongering of parents by so-called experts. The rolling out of dubious stats as a threat as to what might happen if the parents don't listen to the current advice.
Children taking hormone blockers when the long term effects haven't been properly tested.
Children being encouraged to mutilate their perfect bodies..." (continues)

Senior managers are buying the 'diversity' line and enforcing it on teaching and research staff.

I expect teachers' hands are tied. They fear for their jobs if they speak out to try and protect the children.

Wanderabout · 26/07/2018 11:28

I wonder what happened in14/15 to cause that pronounced upturn?

You know what would be a really interesting study? To look at which schools and classes/age groups were trained by trans lobby orgs. To then look at numbers of trans pupils/GIDS referrals from those schools vs others.

JAnuary 2018 Times article by Sian Griffiths, Education Editor:

'Schools rushing ‘on whisper’ to label pupils as transgender
A psychologist at the only NHS gender clinic for children in England says some may be making choices they could regret'

(extract)
'Children as young as 11 are being offered medical treatments that could leave some infertile, according to a psychologist at the only NHS clinic in England and Wales for children seeking to change their gender.

Bernadette Wren, consultant clinical psychologist at the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) clinic in London, said some schools were moving too fast in allowing young girls to be treated as male pupils and vice versa — simply at the child’s request.

She said schools were rushing to allow pupils to change their names, uniforms and gender pronouns as soon as they “got a whisper that a child might be querying their identity” and this was not in every child’s best interests.

The GIDS clinic is part of the Tavistock and Portland trust in London which has pioneered medical treatment for young transgender people but is now being overwhelmed by referrals.

In nine months last year more than 2,000 children were referred by GPs, schools and support groups to GIDS, the only NHS clinic offering medical treatments such as hormones to suppress puberty and cross-sex hormones to develop different sexual characteristics. (continues)

The figure is a 20-fold increase in seven years — in 2009 it was 97. Last year’s figures included two three-year-olds, nine four-year-olds, 21 five-year-olds and 23 six-year-olds. Some are being offered treatments not accessible in the past and for which there is no long-term research data available about risks.

Wren said future generations might condemn the way such children were being handled: “Of course you have to think that in another generation we will have done something which is not regarded as having been wise.” She also acknowledged that some youngsters could regret their decision to change gender when they grow up and that there were risks involved, including the loss of the ability to have children, particularly for those born as boys.

“Perhaps the choices they make when they are 16 look different when they are 30,” said Wren, speaking in advance of a conference next month about improving support for children who question their gender. “You can accept their feeling about gender difference but you do have to say alongside that — and without being transphobic — that there are really difficult treatment choices to be made." Their friend had Mermaids come to give a talk at their daughter's school. Following this their daughter decided she was a boy.

If I were a Head Teacher I would absolutely ban organizations such as Mermaids coming anywhere near my school.
Children need protecting from radicalization and to my mind, what is happening falls under radicalization.

It's laughable,
Schools are shit hot on safeguarding in every other area, but are letting children down badly by exposing their young impressionable minds to all this nonsense.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/07/2018 11:23

Once again, truly horrifying that activists are trying to enter Child Protection fields

Yes.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/07/2018 11:22

If you couple the training of professionals to threaten a social worker if parents will not affirm their child is the opposite sex on the young child's say so with the following, you get a very concerning picture

Add to this the silencing of academic debate and of academics and the culture of fear on campuses where 'no platforming' rules and where even senior managers are buying the 'diversity' line and enforcing it on teaching and research staff.

intheparcark · 26/07/2018 11:22

These people were activists so doing more in that line. But a couple were heading towards CP fields (studying) and I strongly suspect that if employed there they would have an agenda because they were quite explicit re this being what they wanted.

Once again, truly horrifying that activists are trying to enter Child Protection fields.

ProfessionalsHaveFII · 26/07/2018 11:20

The professionals involved display FII (fabricated induced injury) behaviour! I guess using the gender cloak they will continue with the misogynistic myth it's a female thing!

intheparcark · 26/07/2018 11:20

I was rubbing shoulders with TRAs who were in SW and related fields who were there deliberately to make sure that children who in any way identified with trans anything were referred for treatment and/or parents referred to CP

This is truly horrific.

BirthCanal · 26/07/2018 11:16

On the graph I mean

BirthCanal · 26/07/2018 11:15

I wonder what happened in14/15 to cause that pronounced upturn?

R0wantrees · 26/07/2018 11:15

Datun yes, that has been my thought too.

The individuals, groups and organisations who have been part of the criticism is significant.

Datun · 26/07/2018 11:09

They are going to struggle to keep the lid on ROGD. It seems,to me, to be the biggest increasing cohort at the moment.

Criticising the Tavistock looks like an own goal.

People like Polly Carmichael come across as fairly circumspect when talking publicly about transgenderism.

If their work is directly threatened, I imagine that might change.

R0wantrees · 26/07/2018 11:08

With regards NHS the challenge to Dr Polly Carmichael and the GIDs / Tavistock approach by many prominant TRAs was very visible (Twitter) during the Westminster Social Policy Forum.

This was a very significant event with highly influential speakers.

dianebrewster · 26/07/2018 11:06

It really is like the whole ritual abuse myth / scandal of the 80's / 90's isn't it? We have a group of activists / experts who appear to believe, uncritically, in something with cultic fervour. They are making their living by selling their "expertise" to public and private organisations, threatening parents who disagree with their world view with the removal of their children. Angry

Parents who won't 'affirm' 8 yr old gender change being referred to social services
Wanderabout · 26/07/2018 10:59

If you couple the training of professionals to threaten a social worker if parents will not affirm their child is the opposite sex on the young child's say so with the following, you get a very concerning picture:

  1. Teach very young children in school that if they feel like they are the opposite sex this means they are:
www.gires.org.uk/classroom-lesson-plans/
  1. Entirely unrelated online world that says the same thing and social contagion:
mobile.twitter.com/itsjillgardner/status/1022077824096710656
  1. Extreme pressure on medical professionals to be affirmation only and not explore why a young child may be saying/feeling they are the opposite sex:

mobile.twitter.com/katepsychfem/status/1020957247357227008

Is it any wonder there has been a massive increase in the number of GIDS referrals of young girls in particular?

AvtarRamKaur · 26/07/2018 10:57

BertrandRussell I recently watched a documentary on that topic, linked from a thread here. Probably 4-6 months ago now? Anyway. We (rightly) talk a lot about social contagion with regards to ROGD in teens, but I think we don't talk enough about social contagion amongst adults and in professions. It's real; it's happened before - especially when money is involved.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/07/2018 10:53

Sorry - I was (and am) trying to write so obliquely that I confused the issue. These people were activists so doing more in that line. But a couple were heading towards CP fields (studying) and I strongly suspect that if employed there they would have an agenda because they were quite explicit re this being what they wanted.

BertrandRussell · 26/07/2018 10:51

It reminds me a bit of the ritual abuse thing in the 1970s. They establishment was taken over by an orthodoxy that was impossible to resist or even question. Medics and social workers who tried to resist lost their jobs....

Bowlofbabelfish · 26/07/2018 10:46

I was rubbing shoulders with TRAs who were in SW and related fields who were there deliberately to make sure that children who in any way identified with trans anything were referred for treatment and/or parents referred to CP.

That is incredibly disturbing. Obviously you may not be able to say but how did these cases pan out? How could the SW possibly be seen as impartial here?

Batteriesallgone · 26/07/2018 10:45

Feels like the NHS is mentioned a lot by TRAs recently, what with the whole thing about the lesbian protestors at Pride TAKING THE PLACE OF and TRAMPLING ON NHS representatives. I wonder if it’s because the general public image of ‘NHS workers’ is so very different to someone like Tara Hewitt, so it’s easier to bring in sympathy from people who aren’t familiar with all of this

Wanderabout · 26/07/2018 10:42

Thanks Rowantrees.

Met up with an old school friend of mine last week.

Their friend had Mermaids come to give a talk at their daughter's school. Following this their daughter decided she was a boy.

The parents had to leave the school because it went down the immediate unquestioning affirmation route with no independent medical advice or input.

They went to another school and their daughter is now happy and has forgotten all about thinking she was a boy.

How are these random adults mostly biologically male having sway over schools and kids education with NO oversight or input from sensible medics or safeguarding professionals.
