The last few days, there have been several claims of misandry on Feminist Chat. Please post examples here using a link and screen shot.

Thank you.

Prat do you spend as much time urging men to call out all the rampant misogyny that takes place every single second of every day, as you do telling women to call out misandry?? Or do you just want to tell women what to do?

Of course he doesn't.

AssassinatedBeauty · 26/02/2018 20:42

Just admit you think that misandry is as much as an issue as misogyny, and that man-hating from women is as dangerous and violent as misogyny from men.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 26/02/2018 20:41

I don't think it will take long.

Pratcatcher · 26/02/2018 20:38

So basically..."haha male tears, but don't forget to challenge the behaviour of the other men who make nasty jokes about women". Confused

AssassinatedBeauty · 26/02/2018 20:37

I would address any misandry I come across. I don't think it will take long. Now, about the misogyny...

thebewilderness · 26/02/2018 20:35

It is not women's job to appease abusive men, prat.
We refuse to set ourselves on fire to keep you warm.

sawdustformypony · 26/02/2018 20:33

Just as some misandrists don't realise that there is a difference between them and the rest of the female population. As long us they find company in each other they're happy enough, I suppose.

thebewilderness · 26/02/2018 20:33

Individual women express misandry. Class men abuse class women.
One of these things is a very serious problem while the other is individual women acting like people.
Atwood: "Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them."
Prat seems to think the women laughing needs to be urgently addressed as the dead women by Feminists.
I prefer not to say what I think prat is but it is not good.

BertrandRussell · 26/02/2018 20:32

“Why can't you focus on misogyny whilst still calling out misandry? They're not mutually exclusive.”

Two things. Why can’t you? Misogyny seems to pass you by.

And please show me some misandry.

Pratcatcher · 26/02/2018 20:25

Assassinated.

Why can't you focus on misogyny whilst still calling out misandry? They're not mutually exclusive.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 26/02/2018 20:14

Do you really think it's equal pay and maternity rights that they have such an issue with?

No. They just don't know what feminism actually is and have eaten up all the bollocks about feminism being just man hating. I used to think this too, as my only actual experience/knowledge of feminism came from other people..usually men..who would constantly tell me that 'feminism has gone too far and is not needed' and 'feminists do not want equality, they want more rights than men' and so on. I also felt sorry for men when they went on about how courts were biased and such, I wondered why feminists did not care about this, and concluded from that that these men were right, feminists are just man haters. I know now its all bollocks and I am glad. Feminism should not have to focus on mens feelings, or mens problems. No-one would expect an anti-racism group to focus on the woes of white people or say that when discussing their own experiences, they are blaming ALL white people and such and that they should keep in mind that their comments may upset white people and make them racist. Seems to be only feminism that gets this treatment oddly enough. I wonder why that is.

LangCleg · 26/02/2018 20:12

The only times I hear women speak of wanting nothing to do with men and possibly even absolutely hating them, is when these same women have been violently and viciously abused

The confusion occurs because some women want nothing to do with misogynists. Some people - you know, misogynists! - don't realise that there is a difference between them and the rest of the male population.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 26/02/2018 20:07

The only times I hear women speak of wanting nothing to do with men and possibly even absolutely hating them, is when these same women have been violently and viciously abused...like one young woman from Somalia I worked with, who had been gang raped and left with the HIV virus. So no way am I going to challenge how they feel or their views on men. They are perfectly within their rights.

AssassinatedBeauty · 26/02/2018 20:04

Why the bloody hell can't you see the issue with suggesting that feminists need to spend their time addressing apparent "misandry" committed by other feminists, over actually addressing misogyny? I can only conclude you're being deliberately obtuse in order to goad. Or you genuinely believe that so-called "misandry" from feminists is as much as an issue as misogyny.

BertrandRussell · 26/02/2018 20:03

"Ok, Bertrand, you stated earlier in the thread that men should actively call out instances of misogyny. Why doesn't this work both ways?"

Well, if you can find some misandry then show me and I'll call it out. I have already promised to stop using my Male Tears mug. My teenage son who gave it to me is bored with putting my tea in it now, so he won't mind. It's too chunky for my taste anyway. What else?

LangCleg · 26/02/2018 19:57

Someone
make
it
stop.

Datun · 26/02/2018 19:53

I'm not blaming women. I'm saying that there is a certain type of feminism which doesn't really help matters and that it largely goes unchallenged.

Proper lolz at this.

Feminists are relentlessly challenged.

Imagine equating someone who wants to put a section of society into camps with the Nazis....Bastards eh?

I believe it was slightly tongue in cheek comment. But it's interesting that you focus on that, and not the work she does. Interesting, but unsurprising.

Pratcatcher · 26/02/2018 19:51

Ok, Bertrand, you stated earlier in the thread that men should actively call out instances of misogyny. Why doesn't this work both ways?

And I don't profess to have all the answers. I'm just commenting on something which I and many others consider to be a toxic part of feminism. Much like people in the middle ages knew that the black plague was an issue despite having no understanding of microbiology.

If you don't want to hear it from me then perhaps consider the surprising popularity of groups like 'Women Against Feminism'. Do you really think it's equal pay and maternity rights that they have such an issue with? Are they all female MRAs? Confused

thebewilderness · 26/02/2018 19:30

God, feminists really shouldn’t ever make jokes, should they?
Self deprecation is the only acceptable joke for women to make. It is known.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 26/02/2018 19:29

Men are so tiresome when they insist feminism isn't nice enough to men. Men have to make everything about THEM, even a women's movement.

BertrandRussell · 26/02/2018 19:24

“Imagine equating someone who wants to put a section of society into camps with the Nazis....Bastards eh?”

God, feminists really shouldn’t ever make jokes, should they?

BertrandRussell · 26/02/2018 19:23

Fair enough, Prat. You really don’t want to engage properly at all do you?. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt.

You must be really disappointed at the lack of “ad hominems, by the way. And you changed your name and everything........

MasterWu · 26/02/2018 19:23

And men look at women like Julie Bindel, who has spent her entire life tackling these very issues, and say bloody feminazi

Imagine equating someone who wants to put a section of society into camps with the Nazis....Bastards eh?

HandbagKrabby · 26/02/2018 19:21

What’s the point? If you think women aren’t nice enough to men and therefore deserve what they get then what can anyone say to change your mind? If you can’t see women as human beings the same way as you see men, then until you are able to change your perception there is nothing more to be said.

But donate to some women’s charities. Think how smug you can feel then that your turned the other cheek, even when someone got out the male tears mug, which is the worst thing that ever happened apparently.
