The last few days, there have been several claims of misandry on Feminist Chat. Please post examples here using a link and screen shot.

Thank you.

Are you sure that privileged middle class women face less sexual violence than those on the fringes of society?

LangCleg · 27/02/2018 10:28

I think we should just all accept that we are mere splinters of bone from Adam's rib and stop upsetting the manly penis.

HandbagKrabby · 27/02/2018 10:25

Driving a bmw and working in sales doesn’t stop you getting raped or being sexually assaulted or being domestically abused or being murdered by your partner or being discriminated against if you have a baby or being discriminated against if your boss decides you might have a baby etc etc. Do you even consider anything from a woman’s perspective or is it just men and men’s concerns that bother you.

TellsEveryoneRealFacts · 27/02/2018 10:24

I used to work in sales for a large security firm at which most of the guards were working class men (many of ethnic minority) on close to minimum wage, whereas the majority of the sales team were white middle class degree educated women. Despite undoubtedly facing some issues that were unique to women, I found it pretty laughable how some of my privileged female colleagues seemed to genuinely play the oppression card whilst driving round in their company BMWs

How were you colleagues? Were you one of the security guards?

AngryAttackKittens · 27/02/2018 10:21

And then at the end of the day the men all went off to their second jobs working in a coal mine, and then women all drove their company BMWs to a spa where a second set of men were forced at gunpoint to fan them with palm fronds. This is totally a thing that actually happened (in Zimbabwe, where Prat used to live) and not at all the result of him flailing desperately in the hopes that we won't cut off the current flow of female attention. Poor lamb, the last time a woman talked to him for this long he was in school and she was teaching him math (which he was of course better at than her, because penis).

Terftastic · 27/02/2018 10:19

Perhaps prat is actually the oppressed one - because of his lack of multiple orgasms.

Terftastic · 27/02/2018 10:16

Prat, I loved your story of the saleswomen and the BMWs being all mean and victim-y to the poor men.

Cool story, bro.

AngryAttackKittens · 27/02/2018 10:15

Normally I wouldn't say no to a pizza, but I'll have mushrooms and a less greasy sausage on mine, thanks.

Congrats on your most interesting and relevant comment so far in this thread though!

Collidascope · 27/02/2018 10:15

A pepperoni of feminists! I love it. Can that please be our new collective noun?

UpstartCrow · 27/02/2018 10:13

The actual implementation of feminism is a feminist - Jessica Eaton - fundraising to start a mens mental health clinic - The Eaton Foundation.

victimfocus.wordpress.com/2018/01/03/stop-asking-me-what-about-men/

Why is it still the only charity to support men with mental health problems? Why don't men fund male DV shelters and rape crisis?

Claiming things aren't bad for women in the UK is either wilful blindness or gaslighting.

FFS

proportion

Pratcatcher · 27/02/2018 10:12

And I do love the old trope of "most women just don't understand feminism but they'd support it if they did...".

Most women know exactly what a large pepperoni of feminists have become.

LangCleg · 27/02/2018 10:11

Must be hard to type all that out with one hand down your pants, so points for that at least.

Only women can have multiple orgasms. This may not be relevant but I felt like saying it.

AngryAttackKittens · 27/02/2018 10:10

"If women would just allow me to be in charge of feminism then I'd support feminism."

It's cute that he thinks we care. The level of coherence drops with each comment though. Isn't it a bit early in the morning to be drinking, Prat?

Terftastic · 27/02/2018 10:08

That makes no sense.

Pratcatcher · 27/02/2018 10:06

I'd support it in the textbook sense if not the actual implementation we see which is a far cry.

UpstartCrow · 27/02/2018 09:58

One reason is because as this thread demonstrates, people are happy to dismiss it as irrelevant misandry that actively harms men, without being able to give much evidence to support that claim.

If you ask people if they support feminism without using the word, they support it.

Not expecting to get a proper answer to that question btw...

Pratcatcher · 27/02/2018 09:55

But why do the vast majority of women not want to be labelled as feminists?

AngryAttackKittens · 27/02/2018 09:50

Having had his previous talking points totally crushed he now moves on to BMWs and Zimbabwe!

Must be hard to type all that out with one hand down your pants, so points for that at least.

Patodp · 27/02/2018 09:47

Conflating class inequality with sexism.
Classic.

UpstartCrow · 27/02/2018 09:44

Your third paragraph contradicts your second paragraph.

I've got no issue with feminists who are genuinely trying to improve things for women. However, I think there are many who just use it as a battering ram against men with no genuine regard for other women.

I used to work in sales for a large security firm at which most of the guards were working class men (many of ethnic minority) on close to minimum wage, whereas the majority of the sales team were white middle class degree educated women. Despite undoubtedly facing some issues that were unique to women, I found it pretty laughable how some of my privileged female colleagues seemed to genuinely play the oppression card whilst driving round in their company BMWs. It's these middle class 'victims' that I can't abide, just like the teenage university feminists who bang on about workplace issues without ever having set foot in an office or done a day's work in their life outside of a Saturday job.

Call me bitter but I just don't see the oppression for many western women having spent large parts of my youth in Zimbabwe and having seen true oppression and poverty. If it was more than 7% of women who beat this drum I'd likely be more inclined to take it seriously. Hell, I remember the thread on here where it was conclusively demonstrated that most women would rather work for a man. I think this speaks volumes about many women's true regard for their fellow females as opposed to opportunity feminism.

BertrandRussell · 27/02/2018 08:47

Mephisophes- out of interest, what do you think feminists want that will make things worse for men? It’s something i’ve often wondered.......

LangCleg · 27/02/2018 08:43

Actually, men only lead the way in completed suicides. This, unsurprisingly, is because they have that teensy weensy problem with violence. Women attempt suicide more frequently than men but choose less violent methods so are successful less often.

Since I am a feminist, I prioritise distress among women.

Men are welcome to prioritise distress among men. They may need to address the violence issue first if they want to reduce male suicide statistics. Not my fault that everything to do with men comes back to that teensy weensy problem with violence.
